I feel disheartened, confused, betrayed, depressed and angry.
by NickJ999 inlike many i probably hesitated to post anything.
i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.
i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.

No one else fulfills the preaching of Matt 24:14
by passwordprotected inas explained to me recently, only jehovah's witnesses are actively fulfilling matt 24:14, thus showing them alone to be the true religion.
sidestepping the glaring issue of jesus stating that love would mark the identity of true christians, let's examine that notion.. .
i have personally rebutted that opinion by stating, with accuracy, that many christians have a gospel ministry and manage to reach hundreds of millions of people across the planet with their message.. .

You know, I always found it real real interesting how they conduct the Ministry School and Service meetings. Like any sales meeting at any sales office, they have the same terms...keep positive, don't get into anything too heavy on the first few visits. Try and place a book and start a study without them actually knowing that you are doing that...because people are stupid (or so they think) I used to ask why we don't just tell people all about the religion up front so that they can make an informed decision before getting too involved. The answer? Well, we don't want to scare them. HA!

Why does the WTBT Society exist?
by Princess Daisy Boo inthey don't really have the truth so it can't be that?
unless "they" at the top truly believe it - do you think they do?.
is it for monetary gain?

I have thought long and hard about the GB and what they are really all about. I have met some of them, been to Brooklyn Bethel more times than I care to enumerate and listened to them speak at conventions. They always seemed to me to really believe in what they were spouting out to us.
But that to me is the most disturbing part. I mean they are really old guys. They always stick to the same line of reasoning...always ending every speech with the same freekin sentence....JEHOVAH'S DAY IS AT HAND! Really loudly and alot. Is this them just trying to convince themselves that they haven't wasted their lives on this? I mean I have seen some of them really flip out on stage...ranting and raving about God and Jesus and how it is the only way to live.
They have put people in padded cells for less.

Why is something, anything, too "far fetched?"
by feenx infirst off with the contents of this post i am not here to upset anyone, nor am i promoting any singular (or collective) idea, thought or belief.
there have been some recent posts on the board the last couple days regarding ufo's, government coverups, etc.
such topics always spark the debate between what can be proved, what hasn't been proved but is "realistic" and what is too "far fetched.

I do not consider myself a person of science or philosophy. However, I am a great observer. LOOK UP. It is gigantic. It is so big that our puny little brains can't even comprehend it's vastness. What makes us think that we are alone? Is it the WT that convinces us that they have a hold on the great cosmos? REALLY?

When children leave the "Truth" it breaks the hearts of their parents.
by TooBad TooSad inlast week an elder from the platform said at the kh that "when children leave the "truth" it breaks the.
hearts of their parents.
" this has been rolling around in my brain and i thought that i would jot down.

You know this whole thing with breaking your parents heart is a little much. There has to come a time..when kids are no longer kids. You no longer have to do what your parents do. And that scares the crap out of most parents because they know as soon as a person starts to think for themselves all bets are off.
The other day, I was having a pleasant convo with my mom (I am 34 she is 54) just to clarify. We talk all the time by phone because i live in NY and she is in FL. I was real sick...sinus, flu vomiting...not to mention I am pregnant. So I tell her that my hubby is at work and that I am alone. She is like "call the brothers"
Why? I haven't been to a meeting in months...she knows this. I keep telling her to stop asking me to do that for every little thing. Especially now that I am sick and the last thing I need is soup and a speech.
She starts crying, weeping even...asking me "What happened to you?"
It's like. OK. Enough already. I love my mom but there is only so much guilt I am willing to take.

For me it's a few things...
1) Any crazy explanation they have for not celebrating any holiday or birthday.
2) 144,000 people get to go to heaven and thats it.
3) Their whole take on higher education
The fact that they call themselves the truth. I asked an elder one time where he gets off calling it the truth when there are about 100 billion people out there who believe their religion is the truth too. He said...and I quote "It just is"
Thanks!
