They are called "Dead Peasant" Policies. They are secret life insurance policies on you without your knowledge.
Could this be the real purpose of your "time cards"?
what made jesus 'perfect'?.
he followed the laws of his own conscience.
we were all born with the innate ability to distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil.. .

there's been such a lot of "ruckus" on the board lately (well, not a lot in comparison to the entire board, but a lot for some of us - lololol!
) that i wanted to give you all something that might help you feel a little "lighter"... and remind you of who you are.
Looks like McDonald's is fixing to get an outpouring of hatemail. Good job Shelby. Now the price of hamburgers will go up.

Is it possible that by turning in a time card each week, that congregants could be considered voluntary employees, or something of that nature?
What comes to mind is an article--- I think it was sammielee24--- posted a few months ago. It seems that many of the companies we all have worked for actually took out life insurance on us without our knowledge. Many of these companies have retained insurance policies on us even though we may have left those companies years ago. The scam broke just a few months ago because of a fat check that was mailed to the wrong party.
I will see if I can find the article and link to it.
It was just a curious thought since I would imagine that anyone having your power of attorney would be able to do all sorts of things "on your behalf" that you wouldn't need to know about.
I suppose it would hurt to find out that you thought someone really cared about your well being and your health, to the point of sneaking up on you and tracking you down, inquiring of your associates, and shepherding you to make sure you are not smoking, drinking, and living the wild life....only to find out they were monitoring their stock. Good habits, low rates, bigger pay-offs. Hmmm.
any of you that are elders or ex-elders.... did you ever have certain people in your cong that would call you at home very often with trivial or constant questions concerning "what should i do"?
did you feel that your position actually served a useful purpose for people who could not think or reason for themselves?.
did you often give up time with your own family in order to be available to these constant groupies calling for advice?.
If such an organization was planned for by a hierarchy that had benevolent intentions to really care for the sheep-like ones by encouraging them with praise when they make good decisions; by asking their own questions back to them and pushing them to reason for themselves; by being supportive, kind, and loving.....could it have ever worked?
Isn't it obvious that we do need some kind of system in place to help people who are at different levels in their spiritual growth and different levels in being able to take responsibility for their actions?
If there was such an original divine plan from the beginning would it not stand to reason that it was corrupted by evil men for gain? Would WT not be the evil slave beating those it was put in charge of?
Should all of the blame for failure go to the Brooklyn guys? Do you think individuals on your local BOE are just as responsible for the corruption and abuse of power?
pondering over this dilemma:.
lets just say, for arguments sake, the report in genesis about the first humans is not an allegory, but a true event:.
watchtower teaches, that adam sinned, because he used his free will to disobey.. god grants free will to his human creation, because he wants them to serve him out of love.. ok, good, but i give an example: i meet a girl, tell her, she is free to love me, but if not, i kill her.. would you call this free will ?.
Leolaia: "Yahweh keeps humans to their place by confusing their language, thereby preventing them from entering into Yahweh's domain."
Most interesting, considering that the confusion of language in our day began in 1914.
Legalese is an English term first used in 1914 [1] for legal writing that is designed to be difficult for laymen to read and understand , the implication being that this abstruseness is deliberate for excluding the legally untrained and to justify high fees. Legalese, as a term, has been adopted in other languages. [2] [3

I guess that makes The Crown Temple Yahweh's domain.

What about the part of the story where this God makes little masonic aprons for them?

My point is that maybe there is a need for such an organization.
Maybe those of you who have escaped just recognized that you did not belong because you were independent in your reasoning skills and blessed with a little common sense.
Perhaps there is some kind of mental deficiency with some people and they need to have this security of being able to rely on someone they consider to be more "wise" because they are truly incapable of making decisions about their own life.
Suppose there is something genetic about certain people that makes them helpless and unsure of themselves?
Suppose at one time there were plans for such an organization designed to encourage and help these type of people, but it later became twisted and corrupted through the abuse of power? Suppose such a plan was designed by a benevolent group, but the WT seized the benevolent plans and turned them into opportunity to make chattel out of their wards?

Journey-on: "cameo-d....You've NEVER been a Jehovah's Witness, right?"
Oh...here we go again
No, Journey-on, I have never had the privilege of being that super-special. Please explain your point in asking.

Curious Butterfly: "That has happened to my husband. Some people call for the stupidest things,I only know because some will tell me why they called. Thank God for caller ID we ignore most calls. Why do they think he works 24/7 and would love to listen to their problems? We have a life that is relatively drama free, I do not need the wackos calling all the time. Some people cannot discern what is a problem and what they can handle themselves as an adult."
But isn't that supposed to be a big part of his DUTIES as an elder? To take those calls and comfort and guide the flock? Isn't he derelict in his DUTIES to the congregation by ignoring the members who are calling on him for guidance? Even if it is stupid stuff? How would those members feel to know that they are considered as "wackos"?
When members have a need for guidance and they are ignored or treated badly by the Elders does this affect these people possibly being DF'd in the future because of underlying grievences against them, i.e. being labeled as "pests"?

Just to show, as example, the personal powers you may have given to your "church" as a member:
the following is quoted from this website: http://www.kjbbc.org/articles_of_faith.php
quote:
4. OFFICERS WITH POWER OF ATTORNEY:
The following officers shall have the power of attorney for the King James Bible Baptist Church. Power of Attorney may only be exercised by a minimum of two officers as listed below, in concert with proper congregational approval beforehand.
A.) The Bishop
B.). One Deacon elected from the Deacons by the Deacons and Pastor.
C.) In the event of there being only one Deacon, he shall have the power of attorney.
D.) In the event there are no Deacons, the Church Treasurer-Financial Secretary may qualify for power of attorney.
end quote
-------------------------------
If you have time that website is well worth the read to understand that other some other churches also have tight regulations. Some churches will expel you if you fail to contribute financially.
This is actually a legal entanglement. What you pay is called, in legal terms "consideration". And what you get for this pay, tithe, "consideration" are the benefits of being "shepherded".
Here's an example from the same website cited above:
quote:
3. INACTIVE MEMBERS:
A person shall be declared inactive who shall absent himself from the services of the church for more than four consecutive weeks or refuse to contribute to its financial support continually without sufficient cause. The Pastor shall cause the church secretary to remove the names from the active roll and place the names on he inactive roll of the church. Such persons may be restored to the active membership provided they renew their covenant obligations to the satisfaction of the Pastor and Deacons. Inactive members will have no vote or voice in church decisions. A twelve month period of unjustified activity will be treated as a formal resignation.end quote
