i can expect my coffee pots to malfunction usually about the time the year warranty runs out.

i have gotton the coffeemakers at jip*lmart for the last 10 years or more; none have lasted much longer than a year..ok maybe 18 months at the most.. anyway, since it stopped brewing, i have just been pouring hot water from stovetop over the coffee grinds....sort of the melita way, but it doesn't exactly f l o w like a melita.. i would like to have something non-electric like melita, but i hate that name now because it reminds me of jacarass's ill tempered wife.. can anyone recommend a good coffee maker?.

also, do you find any difference in the quality of a name brand product when it's sold at jip*mart as opposed to a place more upscale?.

Oh I do love espresso! Years ago I stopped at my favorite Cuban restaurant and had several cups of espresso. I went home and wrote, revised, and polished a one act play in three scenes which was selected for read and later performance at small local theatre! (Best I remember I didn't sleep for about 2 days). I am almost afraid of what a day of espresso might do to me again!!!!

Those espresso machines are pretty expensive, no?

Door to door "knocking" is a take off on the ritual of the secret society "tapping". That's why it must be done that way.

When secret societies choose candidates to initiate to become possible members, which is exactly what you all are doing, they come up from behind them (no advance warning---same as JWs---just bulldoze in) and they "tap" the person on the back of the shoulder. Then they extend the invitation.

The "knocking" is all part of the secret society code of rituals.

French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee. Because the used grounds remain in the drink after brewing, French pressed coffee left to stand can become bitter. For a 1 ⁄ 2 -litre (0.11 imp gal; 0.13 US gal) French press, the contents are considered spoiled after around 20 minutes. [ 4 ]

Not sure I like this feature. I would be making coffee all day long if the coffee is "spoiled" and bitter after 20 mins. I don't like the idea of dregs and sludge at the bottom of my cup. Is that how it is when you use French press? My usual habit is brew a pot of about four cups. I usually make a pot in morning and then another one mid to late afternoon.

ok so i think todays the day the congregation gets to hear im dissing myself,.

i sent my letter off last week and theyl have got it on saturday,.

as i was told on a earlyer post it wont be done on sunday meeting.

It looks like they want to have the final say. You can't quit until THEY say so. They are still insisting on having the upper hand just to see how far they can still manipulate you.

they said they dint take the letter cos i dint sighn it in ink how stupid

If it were me, I would sign the damn thing in ink, cut my finger, bleed on it and tell them its my blood signature and final word and don't ever darken my doorstep again.

I would send it certified, return receipt. Or better yet, send it to Brooklyn and let the local body get the word from Hdqtrs.

Maybe you could tell us more about how the style of the knife relates to its use and whether some of the "decoration" has a function as well...like the notches, etc.

I have always wondered why so many different styles and blade widths and lengths and which knifes are for what kind of jobs.

i sent a .pdf to a few friends and one of them betrayed me and forward it to a elder i know, along with the emails of the recipients.

i cant believe i was so naive to think that i can trust someone..stupid.

i have not talked to the "benedict arnold" yet, but hopefully soon.

It sounds like the WT is trying hard to distance itself from all of the KH's and the individual activities at each hall. I would imagine at all those Brooklyn training sessions there are manuevers discussed that are never written down.

I have also wondered if some of the DFing through the years has been for the sake of fund raising. If someone needs to be reinstated and is a high profile family, I wonder how many make "a special $ contribution" and are quickly restored among the brethern. These tactics are not always just for power and control. There are bills to be paid. WT is a business. When the money isn't coming in through mags and "voluntary" contributions, they have to have some people in reserve they can lean on when extra expenses come up.

I would also be interested to know just how many DF'd who were anxious to be reinstated were approached very subtly about contributions. It would be done in a way of guilting someone to "do more" to gain Jehovah's approval. People probably would not even realize they are being co-erced as they would see it as an opportunity to "get back in Jah's graces". As you know a DF'd cannot do door to door work....so there must be some other way to show repentence. Money would do it.

Anyway, from the sound of it, it looks like people need to start taking the bull by the horns on a local level. Personal slights, etc. The elders should back down if they know the corp. will not stand up for them in a civil suit. Holding your families hostage looks like extortion to me.
