"calf" does not in itself identify the gender
Marhalhasahabz, Thank you very much for clarifying that.
Do you have any idea why they would choose a calf? What dos it represent?
ok. here is another question about the golden calf story.. just suppose this is some sort of allegory or symbolic message.
why would they choose a calf as opposed to a bull or a cow?.
a bull, i could understand.

a "calf" is sexless, it has the potential to be either male, and good for breeding or femaleAt what age does it become a male or female?
"At what age does it become a male or female?" Please tell me I didn't just read that.
Yes you did read that because Devilsnook seems to infer that it is born without having a gender. DN says "a calf is sexless". So what would that mean to YOU, Marshalhasabaszzz?

At what age does it become a male or female?
And is this by choice? or pre-determined?
just wondering, is there any information as to how big it was?
how did desert wanders carry around so much gold?
wouldn't it have encumbered them?
You are all a fun bunch.
These are some funny answers as well as more intriguing questions.
At least I can tell you are thinking about it; there just doesn't seem to be much to work with, though, in the way of logic in what's been written.
So maybe there is something else to be discovered here.
I don't know what it is yet.
All I know is that the Vatican pre-empted a lot of other scrolls to include this, back in the day. So maybe we should all write the pope.
Or since the Watchtower is so damn wise, has anyone ever written them to ask questions like these?
What do you think they would say about it?
Is there an address where I can write the Federal Slave?
Thanks

Ok. Here is another question about the Golden Calf story.
Just suppose this is some sort of allegory or symbolic message.
Why would they choose a CALF as opposed to a bull or a cow?
A bull, I could understand. It might represent strength, might, presence, aggression, stamina....many strong defensive properties a heathen might look for in a deity.
I could even understand a cow. It might represent fertility as the reproductive animal, or food, or nurturing and protectiveness.
But a CALF? To me, a calf represents the innocence and stupidity of youth, helplessness, dependency.
So what's the message here? Why would these people choose a diety that seems inept at guidance, defense, and protection?
just wondering, is there any information as to how big it was?

ok what's the point of this? all we have is scripture, and that's what it said.
The point is that I am curious because I haven't seen much discussion on it. And it seems improbable the way that scripture tells it. Something's missing here.
Maybe u can research it and come back and explain it all to us that are interested
That sounds like a journey! I thought Jehovah's Witnesses had all the answers! And that ex-JWs had all the right answers!
gymbob...I say.....if it ever was made, it could probably be held in one hand.....
I was wondering about that. That seems reasonable. But you know Hollywood. I think it was portrayed in some movie to be about 20 feet. And here is the kind of stuff we find in the bible story books.
That would have to be a damn lot of gold jewelry melted down, don't you think? How many earrings does it take to make a 20 foot statue? Has watchtower ever published a picture of golden calf in any of the mags that you know of?
gymbob... Also, if it was made, they certainly didn't grind it up and drink it!
I have seen pictures of people who have drank collidial silver and they turned blue. Permanently. I wonder what the dangers and health hazards would be if they did actually drink gold dust. Or if there might be some curative advantage?
just wondering, is there any information as to how big it was?
how did desert wanders carry around so much gold?
wouldn't it have encumbered them?
Of course they had to melt the gold down first to even make the calf. How would they have the technology to make a fire that hot out in the desert?
What would be required to make a fire hot enough to melt gold under primitive conditions and limited desert resources?

Please help me to make sense of all this.
20 Then he took the calf that they had made and he burnt it with fire and crushed it till it was fine, after which he scattered it upon the surface of the waters and made the sons of Israel drink it.
Burning a gold statue is thus impossible from a scientific point of view. With a melting point of 1337.33?K it would be impossible to even melt it using a standard wooden fire.
So REALLY...what could have happened to this statue?
Was it even real?
Is it in a vault somewhere unknown? (It would certainly be worth a chunk of money)
How could it have realistically been destroyed?
just wondering, is there any information as to how big it was?

Have archeologists ever found the golden calf and where was it? Is it in a museum now? We all hear the stories about looking for Noah's ark but I never remember hearing much about looking for this golden calf.
the following is a translation of a message to extj.com/foro (let's call it the spanish jwd).
mary, david, once again ... did you know that you are the new watchtower in many circuits?
original post in spanish .
Yes.....but unwritten in regards to male leadership within the KH.....
Thank you. Now I understand.
Wow. Then that will be a big deal to see it actually come out in print stating that.
Surely they would find some way to twist a scripture to back it up, wouldn't they? Do you think they will use "love god first and your neighbor second"? Maybe reduce the family to neighbor status?
