Rather than giving in to disappointment over what did not happen in 1914,
WHAT?
Are they now saying that Jesus didn't come in 1914 after all?
don't know if this has been posted here.
it's making the rounds on some jw sites.
this is a transcript of the new dvd: jehovah's witnesses, faith in action, part 1: out of darkness:.

i've always wondered this, and with the holidays coming up, why does the watchtower only pick on certain things, and leave other things to question, or to the conscience?.
You all already know the origins of these "holy days" that are not really holy at all.
How do you feel eating turkey for Thanksgiving knowing how the governing institutions really treated them? Giving them blankets infected with small pox so they could kill them off and take their land? Or years later still laughing at them for trading land for bead trinkets because it was something new to them? When you celebrate it, the blood is on your hands, too.
How do you feel celebrating 4th of July when you know that fireworks are intended to symbolize the noise and flash of bombs and guns and that people were killed in these wars? When you celebrate it the blood is on your hands, too.
Birthdays represent self-glorification.
warning!!!!
might be disturbing for some.. it's amazing how faith can justify anything.. .

I think the rules are that they are not supposed to wear anything at all under that big moo-moo dress.
I knew a Muslim lady and had several conversations with her. One day she visited me in the hot August sun was wearing one of those dresses--black, long sleeves, down to her ankles and I asked her if she wasn't burning up hot. She told me that they do not wear bras or panties or anything underneath and because it is not tight fitting the air flow keeps them cool. And even through the material is black it a natural material with a weave that allows air flow.
Maybe the lady that got a whuppin wore pants because she was cold. Or maybe her man was ticked because she was not (ahem) accessible.
Here are some folks that really need a beating over their fashion statements.
stretching and yawning, blinking my eyes............
where did you go, beks?
those who claim to speak on behalf of a god and claim to have his authority are often left at liberty to blur the lines.
without actually accepting these leaders as "god" their followers, through their actions, come to recognize the leaders authority as being a god.. is there much difference between a god that says you cannot touch that apple tree and a wt dictate that you cannot read unauthorized material?.
what promise did the apple hold?
I knew if it had food, cars, or sex in the title, you would be responding, ASO.
i posted a thread yesterday about my elder husband putting the publishing plant first, and i was reminded that not all elders do that.
that is very true, i know that and i pointed it out to my husband many times though it did not good.
but the elders are told over and over to the brog first and it reminded me of an experience that they had at the last dc i went to in 2009.. they had a family on the stage the husband was an elder of course, they had i believe three kids if not four.
So mom has to shut up and know her place while letting the 14 year old son lead.
Later on the kid will probably be making other bossy demands if the father is not around.
This is a psychological teaching aid also to impress upon young minds that women are inferior.

What promise did the apple hold? If you know good and evil and the difference between the two...does this not mean that you know the truth? If you were to be as wise as the god ruling over you, would you not then know the truth of all matters?
Why would such a god restrict his followers from knowing this? Could it be because he would have no one left to lord over?
What really happens when you eat the apple and "your eyes are opened"?
Suddenly you realise that Garden is walled-in. It is not all encompassing. There is something beyond it.
It is at that point that the Garden of Lies is no longer your home. You are put out. And evil angels stand at the gate with their swords of hell fire forever dividing you from your loved ones in side.
When you eat the apple, it's not your garden anymore.
Welcome to the real world.
of the congregation i spent my life in i would say a good 75% had nervous breakdowns at some point.
and often there was never really a obivous reason for it.
well not that we jw's could understand at the time.. even the queen bee's/ elderettes were not immune to this.. what about you?.
I knew one. he was a lovely sweet soul and was always spreading joy to others. Then one day I heard he had "had a breakdown....again". (Didn't know this was re-occuring.) Seems he beat his head on the concrete driveway until he was all bloody. He didn't come around for a long time. I heard he would not see any visitors either. Then , he moved away. You are remembered fondly and missed, Frank.
i saw this on the wt official site..... now, they can't have too much love for fido!
enjoyment is evil, folks.. skeeter.
petshow do you.
ziddina: "Use a spray bottle on the cat (squirt it, don't throw the spray bottle at it...) every time it scratches the chair."
Ok. I am sitting here with my full squirt bottle. problem is, it will probably happen when I am out of the room or kitty will scratch chair and run when she hears me coming. But I am armed.
ziddina: "Rub it lightly with cinnamon oil or clove oil - but ONLY if it appears to repel the cat...
Use citronella oil if the cinnamon or clove oil doesn't repulse the cat. Coffee grounds might also work..."
I can't believe you think I am going to dump coffee grounds in my chair to keep the cat out.
ziddina: " put tin foil on the chair [worked for me"
What did you do for a hat then?
ziddina:"About making the cat seek out its own food - DON'T do that!! It's cruel, and besides, a well-fed cat (with store-bought food) will hunt better than a starving cat.."
Actually I do feed the cat. All day long. I have never seen cat eat so much but maybe it's the cold weather. I don't like when cat kills birds because I feed birds also. But I do wish kitty would be a ratter because i know mice are around.
i don't know of any other religion that makes such a discussion of entitlement over funerals---who is entitled to come and who will be asked to leave, who is entitled to have a funeral and who is not.. i ran across this info on another website and it reminded me of the way jws are so ill behaved and cold about funerals.. .
in the premodern world of ancient rome, the earliest christians organized themselves into funeral societies.
these organizations helped the poor and middle classes combine their resources to bury their dead friends and family members in a manner honoring their religious beliefs and cultural practices.
Well, I have heard that a JW wedding and a JW funeral is basically the same thing.
