Because the words of the bible DO STAND OUT. THAT is what we have been telling you. But not from THAT angle. Go to new york and then AFTER you have seen the damned thing come back here. The person that took the photo, took it from an angle making the other more prominent, it is a standard photographic technique.
Nathan. Ive only posted a few falacious arguements today. So no worries. But it seemed like several threads in a row were silly ad hominems and I was pulling my hair out. This is one of the reasons I said many on this board are weak ass whiney MFers. Just looking for anything to complain about. I wont apologize that I cant relate to that. Even stuff that hurt my feelings or ticked me off when I was a witness, were not necessarily wrong. I felt like that then and I feel like it now. And even when something, like this sign issue, is explained to folks, they still try to put it in the worst possible light.
Like I said earlier. Complain about complainable stuff. Let the other stuff pass. Its pointless.

A happy people?
by myself inviewing the tennesseans article today "disfellowship described as being 'worse then death'" one of my co-workers asked if this was true.. i told him that many have viewed it that way in different aspects.
some have been driven to suicide because of not knowing how to deal with the prospect of being df'd.
they are cut off from their family, and the only people they have really been allowed to associate with as friends.. this brought out a question from my husband on the way home from work tonight: "are jehovah's witnesses really a happy group of people?".

I was pretty happy as a JW. Shit happens but oh well. I thnk it is just that I am pretty much oblivious to everything around me. Time just sorta passes. Life like totally kicks ass. Even for some witnesses.

by Eutapro ini must say that as a neutral scientific observer of this site--it seems that things are kind of one-sided here.
i thought this was a board with both devout jws and ex-jws on it.
on further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com.

Iarc, then I may have to pull you into my cult. I figure, Jesus and Moses didnt even exist and they got some pretty big cults. The JWs dont have psychology degrees and they run a pretty damned big cult. How much more can someone who consciously knows all of these techniques and why they work.

The size of the letters isnt the point. The letters are perfectly designed to be seen easily from the bridge. Make them too large and the message cannot be read by the passing motorist. I have been there and seen them. It gets the msg across perfectly.

Yes it is something out of nothing.
Why? Because the inference is that somehow by the position of those signs, they demonstrate their lack of appreciation of the bible. But the angle the picture is taken at tells only part of the story. The Read Gods Word The bible sign was placed so that it could be seen from the traffic. So that cars would see it ....hundreds of thousands daily probably, as they drove into the city. This was point out by both myself and Mike Musto.
If you are really trying to "get something on the watchtower" then get something real and dont waste your time whining about every little thing that they do, especially those things that are not bad. We can disagree with them on things that are truly disagreeable and not act like children in regards to every tiny nuance.

Notice the completely irrational point of view of most in this thread. Few have addressed the points the person brough up. Instead they have called him names, accused him of being someone else, and then generally insulted him.
Iarc seems pretty cool. He may or may not be a professor. If he said so I will take his word for it. Being a professor does not automatically mean that he is either better at arguing than someone else (I could argue most professors into the ground and I have no degree) or that he has better facts in hand on the topic Euta addressed.
It does seem from the threads I have read however that Iarc is well equipped. I like his style and his post. I am merely saying that simply because one is up against another of higher caliber, does not mean that the lesser is wrong in their viewpoint. I myself use Argumentum Ad Blarney. I will define that sometime for yous. But right now I have to blast some aliens that are coming up my lawn.
