  The "one-Scripture" Rule

  so much of jw belief is based on just one or two scriptures, while they ignore the thrust of true christianity!

  here are some examples:.

  1. the faithful and discreet slave--mentioned once in the bible.

  ok there is a candle light vigil and a news conference on friday for that bowen is organizing in kentucky at his congregation.

  a couple of us talked on another thread about going.

  ive got a few friends, non-witnesses, who are goin down with me.

  I stated simply:

  1....The Read the Bible Daily sign is meant to be seen from the road.

  2...It is not mean to be seen from the angle of the picture.

  3...The photo uses a photographic technique to make one thing appear larger than another.

  4...This photo in no way has anything to do with the Society's view of the bible vs the watchtower.

  5...Let's complain about real issues, not just go gunnin for anything to disagree with.

  6...Let's agree with what we truly agree with.

  Then my comments to you were that we had already had enough people state the true nature of the sign and the misleading nature of the photo. That you needed to go to new york and see the sign for yourself.

  Objectivity and This Site

  i must say that as a neutral scientific observer of this site--it seems that things are kind of one-sided here.

  i thought this was a board with both devout jws and ex-jws on it.

  on further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com.

  Here lets see if I can start a rumor that is instantly believed.

  I bet that Eutapro isnt even that myst that yall keep sayin. He's prolly that ebil hywandyr or dat tewwible Inishit.

  For christ sake people. All it takes is one person saying something and the others automatically leap upon it. Could Eutapro be myst or someone else SURE. He could be you for all I know. The point isnt who he COULD be. But the freaking mentality that if one person says something everyone jumps on it.

  And you wonder why I say folks on this board are weak.

  It is the same mentality in every segment of society...and exes are not better than JWs for the most part. Perhaps on a few key issues they are better, and those issues are important to me. But overall, you guys wreak of the JW stench that you are so vehemently denying.

  A happy people?

  viewing the tennesseans article today "disfellowship described as being 'worse then death'" one of my co-workers asked if this was true.. i told him that many have viewed it that way in different aspects.

  some have been driven to suicide because of not knowing how to deal with the prospect of being df'd.

  they are cut off from their family, and the only people they have really been allowed to associate with as friends.. this brought out a question from my husband on the way home from work tonight: "are jehovah's witnesses really a happy group of people?".

  Patricia interesting points. If I were sure I was going to remain married I would go back but for different reasons. Mostly to be a source of refreshment to those still in and to become an elder and prevent as many dfing as possible.

  But my purpose in leaving isnt to get people out. My purpose in staying away isnt to get people out. I know most here consider christianity a fine thing and left because JW doctrine did not agree with the bible. I simply left because they did not fess up to their mistakes and I realized the claim that they were a religion of truth from a god of truth were not true. I researched. Most have not done the same research of christianity that they have done of the witnesses. If they had there is almost no one conceivable reason in my mind that they could remain a christian.

  But it is not my duty to inform them of this. Nor is it my duty to save them from possibly one of the most wicked institutions on the planet (christianity). The fabled founder of christianity is claimed to have stated "Cast not your pearls before swine lest then trample them, then turn and rend you also." Which is exactly what occurs when you try to save people, even subtly, who do not wish to be saved.

  My soul has been given to the Goddess. She sent her daughter to earth to die for my sins. I have accepted her into my heart. And, unlike christians, her doctrine doesnt force me to tell anyone about it. At the moment that anyone is ready, she draws such a one to her. And then she sends them to me. Not before will I lift a finger for they are simply not ready.

  Ok there is a candle light vigil and a news conference on friday for that Bowen is organizing in Kentucky at his congregation. A couple of us talked on another thread about going. Ive got a few friends, non-witnesses, who are goin down with me. We will be leaving early friday morning as we wont be staying in a motel overnight.

  If anyone else is going and would like to arrange a couple of car groups, let me know. Or just email me.
