If you're not DFd of DAd then is it possible for you to have the book sent to another nearby library? Witnesses have an obligation to report wrong doing, you know, and I don't think its paranoid to make sure she doesn't see you actually checking out the book - could end up in front of the elders. You only have to read Crisis of Conscence to know how true that is.

Like the friend or relative you take for granted.....
by Number 6 in.. the loss of them doesnt really sink in until you realise what you have lost or are about to lose so before i cannot post anymore and the jwd closes a few thoughts...... ------------------------------------------------------------------------.
if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfilment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years.. of the generation that observed the beginning of the 'last days' in 1914, jesus foretold: 'this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.

Things you are now embarrassed you disclosed on jwd
by rebel8 inwhat are some things you posted here that you are now embarrassed about?
here's a classic.
it totally brought down a funny thread, and totally embarrassed me because others' reactions made me realize how dysfunctional my childhood was.

Rebel8, thanks for sharing. I wasn't around when this was originally posted. Yikes, I feel for you, I can only imagine what an effect this has had on you. My mother (not a JW) also had strange beliefs about tampons, She told me I wouldn't be able to use them until after I was married (code for 'had sex'), but I knew that this couldn't be true since my teenage virgin friends were out swimming during their periods. Look forward to hearing more from you.

bad experiences with C.O.s?
by startingovernow ini am still trying to recover from an experience that i had with a c.o.
reading other discussions has helped me to start getting other bad experiences into a better perspective and since the experience with the c.o.
was really the final straw i was hoping that reading that i am not alone would help me in moving on.

TMS,
I'm at the regret part, it's the moving on part I'm hoping for help with.

Ataloa,
Thanks for your reply. I'm a bit confused about "God's way." I used to believe it was Jehovah who saw me searching for God and had Witnesses come my way. When the person who introduced me to the "Truth" decided not to continue (I never knew the reason why) I was told by those in the congregation that Jehovah must have been just using her to help me. After all I've been through "for Jehovah" I'm regretting my past decisions and beliefs. At this point I'm not sure there is a God looking out for my best interest.
By the way, where will you be going when this board closes?

I'm sorry I asked for clarification. If I wanted to just read people's experiences, I'd read the WT and Awake!.
Please don't reply back to me, I'll look for others to keep in touch with.

Thanks, but I'd rather communicate with people in the present.

Hello. I've been on this board for less than a week and now l learn that is closing. I came here to heal. Hearing experiences from others that show that it wasn't all in my head, that I was gaslighted by JW's has helped. My experience is expecially difficult because I chose to be a JW all by myself, with great opposition from many, little help from JW's. All in all it was a great disappointment, to put it lightly.
I'd like to find a new board, but one that will help me heal. I'm especially interested in those that have turned away from the organization as a result of hypocrisy and lack of support. I would also like to hear from those "apostates" out there since my understanding of apostates has done a 170, hearing from others as to what their apostate stand was will help me get to a 180.
Please let me know where to meet you.

Parental FAILURE.
by easyreader1970 inone thing i really hate.
the wbts basically says that if your child does not grow up a productive members of jehovah's witnesses, in spite of everything else they may be capable of achieving, you fail as a parent.
this bothers me.

The WBTS basically says that if your child does not grow up a productive members of Jehovah's Witnesses, in spite of everything else they may be capable of achieving, you FAIL as a parent.
At the risk of sounding loyal to the organizaiton, I'll say that its not the WBTS that says this but the people in the organization that twist things around so much that they can't see straight.
I've heard a witness complain about their niece and nephew not getting baptized until they were 17. No joy that they became baptized, just criticism that it "took them so long."
When I was finishing up my study of the United in Worship book after I was baptized the conductor had her gilead bound sister conduct my study. That sister told me on my study that I wasn't doing enough - that I had to pioneer. Even after I said, I was just baptized and so I'm auxiliary pioneering until September comes, she said uh, huh, you need to be pioneering. Oh, how I would like to go back and tell her off. No appreciation that I came into the "Truth" with unbelievable opposition and lack of support like no one I ever met in the organization. supporting myself on a high school (no trade school) education, whereas she lived with her husband's family and before that had been supported by her own her were all Witnesses.
