It's clearly a clip that they've edited. The original joke was that Alexa answered with "Mark O'Donnell"

How Much of the WT Teaching Did You Believe?
by Ding insome people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".
i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.

Someone else mentioned the Revelation book.
It's funny, I was a multi-generational born-in and I believed absolutely everything that Watchtower taught, since everyone I loved and trusted believed everything a JW is supposed to believe... except the ridiculous modern day fulfillments of prophecy the Revelation book attempted to have us believe. Even as a child, I knew some of the random claims they made without any proof whatsoever had no chance of being remotely true. It was never discussed of course, but I have a hunch very few others genuinely believed some of those claims either.
After that, as an adult, it was things like the stance on blood and only JWs surviving Armageddon had me questioning further until everything fell apart.

Lloyd's videos were a huge help in waking up both myself, and later, my wife. Without him our kids would likely be fully indoctrinated and talking about getting baptized in only a few short years.
Yes, there are occasions I'm bothered by his arrogance, and there are times he should back down and/or apologize, but his personality prevents him from doing so. But to make these little immature comments about Lloyd whenever his name comes up, I don't get it. Is this how you behave in real life when someone mentions a person you dislike?
We know you don't like Lloyd, but he has helped many (more than we or he will know), so please get over yourselves. And comparing him to Rick Fearon - really?
Can't wait to watch this episode further exposing Watchtower. More than a few JWs will watch in the privacy of their homes.

How Many Witnesses Would Really Take Blood?
by minimus inup until the very end, my mother refused blood.
it didn't matter if it was a blurred line or not, the bible says "no blood"!
i wonder if she was in the minority, in her thinking.

When we had our first child, my mom and my wife's mom were in the room when the nurse was collecting / confirming information from us, ahead of a scheduled c-section. We were having doubts at the time, but our families were having contact with us, albeit strained and awkward. They were both so pleased when we confirmed we are JWs and would not accept blood.
The moment both our moms left the room, we contacted the nurse to explain the scenario and to make sure it was recorded that we would accept blood if anything were to go wrong. She knowingly nodded and changed the corresponding information in the paperwork. It was almost like she had been in the same situation before and fully expected us to change our mind when our family was not present. I've always found that very interesting...

I agree, this doesn't sound like an authentic Watchtower letter to the body of elders. "Please stress..." along with the other phrases already mentioned.

Has anyone met Anthony Morris?
by The Real Edward Gentry inhe seems like he'd be very stern and a drag to have to be around.
obsessed with tight pants and homosexuals and all.
so what's he really like?.
-
SuspiciousMinds
He doesn't seem like a very pleasant person. Not a big fan of his rants and his comments about his imminent departure to heaven. And of course the homosexuals and tight pants. Thinks he's better than everyone else, including the lowly R&F JWs.
When I was young and the GB members were hidden in secrecy, I would have died to meet one of them. Daniel Sydlik, Milton Henschel, Albert Schroeder... they were like legends and had a mysterious aura of intelligence and maturity that we could only imagine. But the current GB - they are like a bunch of jokers.

Leah Remini Scientology series might tackle Jehovah's Witnesses in season 3
by jp1692 ini've seen comments by some on leah's expose on scientology: aftermath.
she actually won an emmy for this show.
rumor is that she might take on jehovah's witnesses in season 3. .

I think this would be absolutely amazing.
Having Leah Remini hosting/presenting may allow for some active JWs to watch as she is not an apostate JW. I can't see many of them admitting it to each other, but I think in the privacy of their homes many would view at least some of the program out of curiousity, even if many of them quickly turn away when former JWs who are now apostates make an appearance. Hoping it has a huge impact.
A celebrity helping our cause would be very interesting and almost hard to believe.

Born Ins, How Did Your Parents Get "The Truthâ„¢"?
by pale.emperor inborn ins are in a unique position in that we never knew any other way of life.
no birthdays, christmas and overly superstitious family just seemed normal.
when my parents talked about their pre-jw life it seemed like they were talking about completely different people (actually, that's true, the cult had taken their real selves).. so i'd be interested in hearing how your parents were indoctrinated.. my dad.

SuspiciousMinds
My parents were both born-ins, so nearly my entire family are JWs (mom, dad, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews). One uncle on either side is out but I don't have really have contact with them so haven't discussed their stance. Not even sure if they were baptized or not while living at home.
Thanks for relating all your stories!

Generation Teaching - Everyone is speechless?
by Red Piller inmaybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?
in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.
one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.
-
SuspiciousMinds
Each and every incarnation of the Generation doctrine has been ridiculous. Thankfully (for the WTS) most JWs don't care and likely don't know what the current teaching is and what it was.
I agree with Gregor's observation - we've often observed this too. The weak end up being the diehards because they "know it's the truth!"

Shepherding Book Cover Guessing Game!
by yknot inlets play a guessing game to help us remain patient while the "shepherding' book is being scanned by more elders than i am gonna admit cuz i don't wanna embarrass the service department!.
so we know it is a softcover..... (if you are an elder and have yours-- mums the word-- please pass on playing and just enjoy the board speculation).
speculation:.

I could call my Dad and tell him the apostates I talk to on the internet would like to know. ...but I don't think he would be any help.
Incidentally, I think it's so cool that so many current elders frequent this forum - especially those who provide info like EE etc..
I think it'll be a solid neutral color (creamy color) with no picture. Looking forward to seeing it!
