if everyone else can do these, get 90% wrong, and still be given the chance to do it again the next year ... like their an expert!
well then, i am going to, as well.. 1. isreal will have a full invastion happen, from two countries at once, in 2011. this will trigger a nato response and a local nuclear attack on a military target.. 2. within three months of marriage, prince william will annouce that his new wife is expecting.. 3. the us economy will show a bounce back, until gas prices sky rocket in the summer and send it skidding down again at a faster rate then before.
people will blame what ever party they do not vote for, ... and george w bush.. 4. massive flooding will happen in the united states, northwest region, as the massive snow falls and cold winters are met with faster then expected higher temps in the spring.. 5. a massive hurricane will hit the east coast, and be followed with one of equal power within only two days.

Massive flooding is likely to happen in the US but I would not limit it to the Northwest Region.
5. A massive hurricane will hit the East Coast, and be followed with one of equal power within only two days. Leaving the worst damage in US history from such storms in a single year. 1200 people will die.
Bad prediction. Expect the possibility of such a double whammy to be a few decades away.
10. The highest recorded tempature on earth, will happen, as a heat wave kills thousands in Central America.
Highest on Earth, not necessarily. Highest in a certain region like India or Pakistan, most probably. Not likely to happen in Central America though-either the highest temperature or that type of heatwave.

the thread about the cross got me to thinking about this - i think i read somewhere that the earliest known christian relic was a mosaic display of the fish symbol - which was taken as a sign of christianity.. has the watchtower ever explained why they avoid the use of this symbol?.
have they ever explained why it is ok for them to use the watchtower as a symbol but not this?.

this subject thread has been on my mind for a while, especially after seeing "zombieland" and foodall's thread about our possible ufo/reptilian over lords/realion/alien invaders.
when the great day of reckoning comes, whether it be from ufo alien invaders, realian reptilian over lords, demons in human-hybrid form, or just plain old virus-infected zombies, what will you be carrying to defend yourself from the hostile forces of e-vile?
please, no one say a "bible" or i'm going to just laugh my ass off.
MrFreeze:
"I don't own any firearms. I don't have any reason to... yet. I do have a can of bug spray though and if worse comes to worse, I can make a homemade flamethrower out of hairspray and a lighter. I have done it before...."
I doubt very much that you have done it under serious self defense situations. It can easily get knocked or kicked out of your hands by an aggressive attacker. I've experimented with such improvised weapons before, using a can of Lysol. It makes a pretty flame but it hardly reaches out a foot or so.
Get serious MrFreeze. At least pepper spray has a useful range.

BTS: Baloney. 7.62x39 is a killer at intermediate and short ranges.
First Burns, you made the mistake of confusing "killing power" with "stopping power". You should know the difference. For those who don't, getting "killed" is not the point of combat since a person can get killed by half a dozen .22s but be able to keep up his attack upon you under an adrenaline surge. So what if he dies half an hour later? Stopping power means knocking the fight out of a person with a single hit to the upper torso.
Also, at a hundred yards many AK47s have 4" (MOA) worth of accuracy. An HK91 has 1.5", I've had them with 1" without any work done on them.
Although the 7.62x39 has much better penetration than a .223 the 7.62x51 has penetration and stopping power combined; going through a car door for example.

i have noticed that people that hold no faith in the bible can easily find reasons not to believe it is god's word.
likewise, i have found that when one does hold faith in the bible they can continue to believe it against any contrary evidence.
the torah not being written by moses is not a big deal to some, neither are the two creation accounts in genises.
Maybe they can answer your question?

Sam Whiskey:
"This bullet travels at 2,800 feet per second. That's just about 2 seconds per mile..... sounds travels at 1,126 feet per second,....half the speed of the bullet."
You forgot to take into account the fact that the bullet drops markedly in velocity at such distances. That would shorten the time between impact and sound.

sooner7nc:
"5.56 has a different leade (longer or shorter I forget) and it can cause a high pressure condition when shot in most .223 marked guns."
It would have to be a heavier, thus longer bullet, to cause that kind of situation. It's been an awful long time since I've shot anything but I recall 55 grain being standard.
In my opinion, this is an indirect result of the cartridge's inherent weakness. The ballistic guys are trying to tweak more bang out of the same pipsqueak round. It would have been best, long ago, to have temporarily switched to the ballistically and man stopping superior .270 and then replaced it with a well designed 6mm cartridge/firearm.

Villabolo, thank you! I also understood it that way, BUT I was told that 5.56 was a higher volocity, higher perssure round.. thus a rifle designed to shoot .223 would not be sutable to shoot 5.56, even though techincally the same round.... just tryin to learn...
Elder, I'm just guessing at this point, but it may have been a misunderstanding based on military ammunition which uses the millimeter designation (5.56). Some of their ammo may perhaps (?) be loaded to higher pressures than civilian ammo. If so, that would quickly wear out any rifle barrel including the military's. They won't care though because they can afford to replace their weapons easily.

elderelite: Why did you go .223? Why not 5.56 so you can shoot both?
Elder, .223 is a caliber measurement (thousandths of an inch) for the exact same cartridge that is also referred to as 5.56 in European metric measurements (millimeters). They are not two different calibers, just two names for the same thing.
As far as "dynamics" of that caliber is concerned, it is well known to have substandard performance in stopping power under combat conditions. .308 NATO (7.62X51) is a much better man stopping round, although it has fallen into disuse in order to build a lighter rifle.
Depending on your physical size, you may want to accept more weight in exchange for more certain quick stopping firepower. It also has the ability to go through car doors and still do some damage. The .223/5.56 will fragment easily with only tiny disintegrating chunks of lead going through.
That does not mean that .223 don't have their place but it is a round best left for women and small men.
I'm old school, so my best choice for a .308 rifle would be an HK91. Barely kicks, and there's a ton of quality accessories made for it. It's expensive nowadays though.
