  Yes JWoods there are many examples. But the point I'm trying to make is that most of those examples are too abstract for the non JW and even for most JWs. The example I gave about their position on rape is far more visceral and down to earth than practically anything else they teach. This more so if you're talking to a woman (Bible Study? Regular JW female who hasn't read those watchtowers?).

  That is how I would grab their attention and refute their "adjustment", "refinement", "light gets brighter and brighter" cliches.

  Always use the example that would grab the attention of any non JW. I would personally use the example of how they excommunicate the victim of rape. They have flip flopped on this about five times. I would not use the example of their convoluted blood issues because it can get too technical and boring for the "worldly" audience. Ditto for other doctrines.

  for a lot of ways, the jw's firmly believe what the secular/worldly authorities & scientists have to say.

  (i.e.-how long the world has been here, etc).

  but don't they also make fun of them?

  Homeschool; Although I don't have any citations I know that the JWs bash all literature but their own. They make it clear that you should only be reading their literature and not wasting your time on any other.

  I beg to differ with you JWoods on one issue. Not that I am defending the JWs who always have something negative to say about anything that doesn't benefit their organization.

  The green revolution, no matter what its intentions, is doomed to failure and may create worse famines than before by having helped to increase the Earths population. The reason is that it relies on artificial fertilizer and lots of it to maintain the growth of freakish plants which also guzzle up a lot of water. That fertilizer is made out of natural gas which is destined to start declining in a few decades and water tables throughout India and many parts of the world are falling.

  What those nations, and ours as well, need are Permaculture techniques and someway to stabilize the population. Otherwise all the science in the world isn't going to save us as we overstep the limits of a finite planet.

  i was watching steve martin "leap of faith" pg rated mind you with some witnesses.

  he plays a fake faith healer.

  their were a couple swear words, and the brothers asked me to switch it off.. same thing happened with christine applegate movie {pg 13} "don't tell mom the babysiters dead.

  A friend of mine, with whom I had watched Dawn of the Dead, did not want to see Life of Brian. This was because a friend of his was watching it but walked out of the theater when the spoof of Jehovah's name came on.

  jeanniebeanz, This sounds similar to the line that right wing radio jocks are mere entertainers. Like the example of Ann Coulter who equates "fat" women with liberals and insults them both. What these hatemongers don't realize is that there are tens of millions of people who take them seriously. As for the facts that the circumcision story is based on it is a report from the CDC which has no connection to Obama. Bottom line, there is nothing funny about Rush Limbaugh even when he's telling a joke.

  BTS: What you said about Obama are echos of George "compassionate" Bush.

  Besides, I heard what Obama said during the Presidential debates and it doesn't seem different from what he wants now. That means that every one who heard him and voted should have known what and whom they were voting for.

  By the way, leave our penises alone, too. This is getting out of hand. There is a story that some officials in the Obama administration are pushing for circumcision for all boys born in the USA to fight HIV/AIDS. Not that I'm against circumcision, but it's a family's decision. Leave our penises alone, too, Obama! You know who's going to be really upset about this news? NOCIRC, the National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers. They're a San Francisco group, and they want to eliminate circumcision. Here's Obama out there saying we gotta have circumcision of every young boy born in the country. This is not going to please the NOCIRC people at all.
  Social Security cuts the next two years.

  In view of the above I would like to know how much credibility these people have.
