My favorite being...

The Insight on the Scriptures book Volume 1, page 917 makes this statement:

"A generation commonly refers to all persons who were born about the same time. (Ex 1:6)"

However, now the Watchtower Society states according to the April 15, 2010, Watchtower:

"It usually refers to people of varying ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period; it is not excessively long; and it has an end. (Ex. 1:6)"

Exodus 1:6 (And many other Bible verses) can be twisted to fit whatever current thoughts are behind Watchtower teaching.

-2010 = Overlap Generations of the Anointed since 1914
[Watchtower April 15, 2010 page 10]

The Watchtower Society’s teaching concerning the meaning of 'generation' as recorded in Matthew was first 'correctly' understood to be 'The Anointed' in 1927. But brighter light caused it to become an incorrect teaching of a couple of different things over the course of 81 years, only to return back to the original ‘correct’ 1927 teaching of 'The Anointed'.

However, in a little over two years that now has proved to be not completely accurate and needed more 'tweaking' to overlap generations of the Anointed since 1914.

i had a bunch of tiny little nags that always bothered me about the bible/god/etc.

that eventually led to me drifting away, but this was my personal, singular issue that no one could address.

i think i mentioned it before here, but, for summation again:.

Researching blood issue and whether not to 'accept' certain blood components. Using the Watchtower CD-ROM library, came across the previous stance on organ transplants being cannibalistic and women are worthy of everlasting destruction if they did not scream/cry out when being raped.

It's not 'early' Jehovah's Witnesses/Watchtower teachings either - Stuff covers the 1960's-80's (and arguably into the 1990's regarding the rape stance).

The floodgates opened from that point. All bets were off... Shortly thereafter, found out about their United Nations (Non-Government-Organization) membership and their additional hypocritical as well as covered-up support of Johannes Greber.

i was in my company vehicle and i spotted some jw's going from door to door.. i circled around the block and pulled over.

when they passed, i rolled down the .

window and asked the pleasant looking middle aged couple as they passed, if they were jehovah's .

Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", if Baroque is being considered as possibilities for the list. I cannot specify which of the four concertos. However, if going by popularity or at least familiarity by majority, I believe 'Spring' would be the winner.

More contemporary and lyrical (female): Several songs by Mariah Carey circa 1990-1995. Whitney comes close, but Mariah always seems to edge her out, IMHO. Houston's rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" is phenomenal though.

More contemporary and lyrical (male): Elvis Presley. I'm not talking the late 50's/early 60's stuff. Mid-Late 60's/70's is the true gold for me. Hard to pick just one: "Heart of Rome", "Tomorrow Never Comes", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (Yes, beats our Simon's performance), "If I Can Dream", "Hurt", "Kentucky Rain", "Without Love (There Is Nothing)", "Just Pretend", "Rags To Riches", "We Can Make The Morning", "What Now My Love"...The list goes on-and-on. Oh, and a few weeks before he died, a live version of Paul Anka's "My Way" which is better than Sinatra.

i've been here forever.... this site still gives us some of the most up to date info about jws .

it keeps evolving.

sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.

2008 - Going on half dozen years. Read more than post (obviously). There's nothing like these boards respecting brutal and sometimes unapologetic honesty for better or worse in getting to the heart of the matter; especially as it concerns religion and/or beliefs.

It is one of the most valuable resources to help a [former] member of the Watchtower organization.

I desire to be less ignorant and to help people. This board indeed serves that purpose direct and indirectly.

The teaching that worldly rulers are servants of Satan has its roots in a misunderstanding of a Genesis account. We say Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden tree and this constituted an attack on God’s sovereignty which, in turn, paved the way for human rulers; hence they are said to be the servants of Satan. But we know that “nakedness, pregnancy and motherhood” are the effects of sexual act (not of eating of a literal tree). (Genesis 3:10, 16, 20) Even after millenniums, the Hebrews were using the word “KNOW” as a synonym for “SEXUAL INTERCOURSE.” (Mathew 1:25)

10 years ago i stopped attending jehovah's witness meetings for good.

walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey never to return based on injustices i observed among others and myself at the hands of elders giving out not god's counsel but personal opinions as counsel .

some of them weren't even giving out wt society counsel- just personal opinions.

My brother died yesterday

"albert" was 55 years old, and the fifth-born of seven children.

i am the second oldest and babysat him often while he was growing up --- and while i was still at home.. yesterday, albert was out taking his usual morning stroll around his small town, when he collapsed on the sidewalk.

the doctors said it was a heart attack.

for the last year or so, the opening lyrics to gloria estefan's "always tomorrow" have been howling at me.. i've been alone inside myself, far too long.

never really wanted it that way, but i let it happen..... .

(btw, the message in that song is great for former jw's, if you want to think about the lyrics that way....).

I could echo many of your sentiments. You are not alone - we may need to draw straws on who gets to be President of the following clubs:

1. Pretty screwed up guy.

2. 30 years invested pretending.

Perhaps we can split presidency having one each...lol

Is it just me or has this site become a Believer/Atheist warzone?

i enjoy the odd thread about evoloution vs creation, etc but lately it seems that a large percentage of threads here devolve into fighting between atheists and theists and distract from what most of us here see eye to eye on, the wt and related things.

i wish things could be more civil here and fr people to realize that people will never see eye to eye on the topic.

it gets so tiring to see the contstant bickring and fighting on those threads.. they seem to go on page after page but very little of substance is discussed seeing as the existence or non existence of a god can be proven by anyone.
