  Gotta love the descriptions and comparisons of each description.

  Personally, anything over 15-18 years for me is too much. It starts to get into the *could be a parent, albeit young parent, range*. Different music, different movies, different clothing, etc.

  And yes, it is entirely possible to enjoy all those things from different generations. Enjoying things you don't like is a lot easier when the person whose stuff you don't like and you are trying to appreciate has lots of money to make you forget why you really dislike Mozart or Bach. Or Eminem. Or the BeeGees. Dollar signs and smiles cover up a lot.

  BTW, is there a name for men who date much younger women? Since women have recently been labeled Cougars, what is the label for men. My bad on Dirty Old Men. I apologize for that.

  mrsjones: I believe you are right.

  Honestly, would you, as a beautiful woman, want to climb in bed with Hugh Hefner? Woody Allen? Or any number of old men who parade around with young super models on their arms?

  The one thing they have in common, other than Cialis in their pocket, is money, lots of it, in the bank.

  Women who are older and dating younger men are always very well kept, are wearing makeup, have had plastic surgery and are doing all they can to stave off the aging process. They are very well off and since the men their age are old, ugly dogs who don't take care of themselves, they have decided to go the other direction.

  And for that they are labeled with a moniker that implies they are predatory.

  At least the women are trying to keep in shape and doing all they can to look good. They old moneyed men are complete dogs.

  PETA has to be involved here somehow.

  That said, there is an old saying about sausage: it's like laws, you don't want to see it being made.

  Unless you grow it yourself, raise it yourself, etc., you just won't know what's in it. And, the more processing that is in it, you know it's worse for you.

  So, Pop-Tarts, and crap like that is just vile. When I see people with food cards buying stuff like that I think that there should be limits on what people can purchase. If Obama truly wants to limit obesity to help health care costs, make Soda-Pop, chips, candy and anything with corn-syrup in it off limits from a government run Food Card (food stamps) purchase. rant/

  I won't bother watching this movie. I don't want to know. I'd become a vegan, growing my own stuff in a flower pot. I'd then be dead in a few months of malnutrition.

  yes, i am enjoying realizing the truth about the truth.. but there is another side to it.

  the world as we know it didn't seem to me to be the way that god intended it to be.

  i know i was brainwashed, but it felt good believing that all the bad things would be changed.

  Not having a paradise earth in the future does not make me sad. At all.

  I re-read all the JW literature and bible scriptures on the JW website and no where does the bible state the earth will become a paradise. It is a total, complete lie. Manufactured by the WTS.

  So, why would I mourn for something that is a complete fabrication?

  As for something better beyond what we know?

  I live for now, today and the remaining years of my life.

  Look around you, there is beauty all around in nature. People, for the most part, are good. Beauty in technology, beauty in weather patterns.

  The JWs have tried to paint such a negative picture of all things dealing with the here and now, as they have done for the last 125 years, that it is easy to get sucked into the thought pattern of "all things in the *world* are evil." That just is not true.

  To Fade or Not To Fade... An Opinion.....

  just a couple of set of ground rules i would like to set for this.

  frequently, one of two options for those who want to leave jw's are 1) a purposeful, public, resignation (or disassociation as jw's call it) vs 2) what is commonly called in the ex jw internet world, "the fade".

  i know that emotions run deep on this subject for good reason, because of what is at stake, and all that is perceived to be lost.

  I faded before I knew what fading was. I never heard of DAing.

  All I knew was people were DFd for "Conduct Unbecoming a Christian" or they just fell off the radar and were totally ignored. When and if they ever showed up to meetings they were treated like they had been to summer camp. Everyone asked them how they were, where they'd been, etc.

  That was about 30 years ago.

  When I came upon this site I started understanding the various levels of fading and DAing. And the various forms of DFing. Big changes from when I last went into a KH. It simply is not discussed by my family. If it gets discussed, it may have to be addressed and they simply don't want to deal with it. So, ignore it and they talk to me.

  Which is fine with me. I saw them this past weekend. We simply don't talk, in person, about anything regarding the JWs. That is done on e-mail and the telephone.

  On e-mail I can ignore the invites to the Memorial and DCs. On the phone I can say "Thanks, but I'm busy." They know not to press.

  So, for now, I have an unspoken agreement with them to not bash the JWs (to them) and they will not push too hard for me to return.

  Is it perfect? No.

  But, I still have a dysfunctional relationship with them. Which is better than none. I think.

  What about 1975? Perhaps you are a little too young to remember all the Watchtower magazine and Awake magazine articles telling us that Armageddon was going to happen in 1975. I was baptized at age 13 in 1975 because I didn't want to die during Armageddon.

  Well, let's see, it is now 2009 and not only didn't the Great Tribulation happen, but, neither did Armageddon. I can provide you many links to all the quotes made by the Society. You may not want to believe them, but they are all too true.

  False prophets. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is nothing but a corporation selling magazines with free labor.

  Has anyone got anything positive from the WT organisation?

  everyone seems to just hate the wt.. i am very upset with the way ive been treated but i dont hate them.. they have given me huge self confidence after helping me out of depression, although i have a fab counsellor, so they cant get all the credit.

  they have made me independent as well, (i think my ex-study conductor regrets that!

  ) i suddenly have a mind of my own and am not afraid to use it.. i owe them quite a lot they have really helped me through some bad times but they have created some bad times for me too.

  I have to agree that the public speaking skills taught by the borg were nothing to crow about. And, how many people in their day to day jobs, here, on this board, use their *public speaking* skills? In high school public speaking is taught. The WTS teaches public speaking at a basic high school level.

  As for being taught how to read better? Honestly, if one was taught to read better, one would not be caught in the web of the borg. If anything, if taught you how NOT to read. It taught you how to highlight, how to read canned answers and how to not research.

  College and higher education encourages one to dig deep into a subject and do research. Which is exactly wha the dubs don't want one to do. We all know why.

  because of my limited contribution, i havent really created a bond with anyone here, so i really appreciate you taking the time to read my story despite that.
