  Sorry, but the WT web site, on my above post, asks for donations ^^^.

  Here is the specific quote from the Watchtower.org:

  **Donations for a specific relief effort are gratefully accepted. However, it is preferred that such donations be made to the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses, since monies are drawn from this fund as the need arises.

  My Mother told me she is going to the KH tonight with her checkbook because she knows the Elders will ask for donations for Haiti. Ummm, when have they set up relief for any disaster and when have you seen JWs in the news for being charitable?

  I say never.

  imagine the best case scenario.

  the watchtower society implodes from within even making final printed admissions that it is voluntarily dismantling it's mission and legally dissolving the corporations.

  I agree with Mary and Oppostate.

  Many who are in simply will not believe that the FDS wasn't being persucuted. They would call and look to the local Elders for direction and would, no doubt, get it. At least from the Elders with nothing better to do than lead some faithful Sheep around. Oh, and those donations that should go to Brooklyn will come in real handy paying the Elders mortgage.

  No matter how you tried, you will not convince them that the Watchtower Corporation breaking up was not real, true, etc. They will see Satan's hand behind it and be more convinced than ever that it is a sign of the times and a sign of the Last Days. This will only push them to the realization that we are in the Great Tribulation.

  I simply don't see some not getting together and continuing to call themselves JWs and creating a new religious organization.

  IN AN era when some are quick to label youths as self-centered, many young ones—including those quoted above—are proving to be just the opposite. Among Jehovah’s Witnesses, many young men and women use their time, energy, and resources to serve others. (Psalm 110:3) Consider some further examples.

  Shortly after his grandmother died, seven-year-old Jirah in Australia received a gift of $50 from his grandfather. What did Jirah do with the money? At the next congregation meeting, he put the entire amount into the donation box. Why? “I have enough toys, but I had only one grandma,” Jirah explained to his mother. “I know that Grandma would have wanted me to donate this money, because she loved Jehovah very much.”

  Five-year-old Hannah from the United States loves horses. She wanted to buy a toy horse, which cost $75. In an effort to teach her the value of saving, Hannah’s parents occasionally gave her money to put into a piggy bank. Soon Hannah had more than enough money to purchase the horse.

  About that time, however, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Hannah was concerned about the victims, so she decided to donate her entire savings—more than $100—to help them. Hannah wrote to the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses: “I want to give this money to you because I love Jehovah and I want to help.” Does Jehovah see such acts of generosity? The Bible says: “Do not forget the doing of good and the sharing of things with others, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.”—Hebrews 13:16.

  A young girl named Tiffany, also from the United States, contacted the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses after two hurricanes hit Florida in 2004. “My brother Timothy and I would like to donate $110,” she wrote. “Our house did not receive too much damage, but we saw what the storms did to other houses. We wanted to help, so we started to save our money. Timothy got $10 for helping to rip out drywall from a house, and I was able to save $100.” Tiffany is 13 years of age, and her brother Timothy is just 7! What happens when we put others’ interests ahead of our own? Proverbs 11:25 states: “The one freely watering others will himself also be freely watered.”

  Opportunists Harvesting Organs from Those Injured and Dying in Haiti?

  i think we need to know the organizations who are responsible for these things.

  are our donations being used to finance any of these opportunists?.

  JeffT, put your tinfoil back on for a moment, please?

  I would guess that the US Government ship Comfort is being sent just for this purpose. They even said they can't do organ transplant which makes it a perfect cover to do organ transplant. (I'll bet they have a few hundred rich, Fat Cat Bankers on the boat who need new Livers from all the drunken carousing they have been doing, waiting on those big bonus'!! Grrr Down with Capitalism!! )

  Plus, think of all the people in Florida who could use an organ transplant. A quickie boat ride over. Heck, Carnival Cruises might already have this set up. Again, the DR, right next store has dry ice. Don't discount the human spirit when organs are involved.

  My concern is that, like what happened in Pakistan, rather than rescue victims that may need extensive medical care, decisions may be based on what is most lucrative in the interest of commerce.

  Practice for the new, Government run healthcare system we will have here in the States.

  BTW, will the JWs be down there giving aid to anyone other than the JWs? Will they be putting together an aid hotline or anything resembling a way to help the people of Haiti, not just the Brothers and Sisters at the KH?

  Of course not.

  At least sickening Pat Robertson will get his congregation together and give some cash to the Haitians. A TV show and Mega-Church have advantages.

  The JWs will give ZERO.

  Pat Robertson is to Bapistist Christianity what a radical Muslim terrorist bomber is to Islam. Some of either faith might agree with the message, but, few will publically say it. Also, the number of radicals to non-radicals in either faith is small.

  Then again, there are a few million JWs who believe the radical message of hate that the JWs preach door-to-door every week. You remember, the message that billions of people are Satan's crew and will be slaughtered at Armageddon? They don't make the news, yet, they preach vile crap every week and many of us have family still in it. Are you vilifying them?

  And all of you were a part of it. (Easy to forget, hmm? *I* don't, every time I talk to my Mom I get a knot in my stomach and wonder if she'll grill me on when I'm coming back)

  I think Pat is a loon and does not represent mainstream Baptist Christianity any more than the Fort Hood Bomber or the Underwear Bomber represent Islam. Unfortuantely there will be people backing up loons of either faith.

  i read some amazingly articulate questions and responses, and i admire the effort that people put into their posts.

  with that in mind, how do you work out your posts?

  Sylvia posts much more than I do. She also is much more articulate and says things in a much clearer, cleaner way than I do. So, usually she says what I want to say so I don't bother because she said it so much better than I could have. :-)

  I start typing, re-read my post, edit, re-edit and 7 out of 10 times, hit delete. I don't hit submit.

  On a post like this, I will submit. Just because I understand. So many people have already said what I want to say, I figure "why bother, it's already been said". That is the shy person in me.

  Just type and hit submit. It is empowering.
