How many JW´s spend their whole lives being JW´s?

ever since i became an exjw activist... i have wondered, how many people can i hope to reach?.

what are the odds that my parents and loved ones will live out the remainder of their lives as jehovah´s witnesses?.

is there a way to calculate the odds that any jw will remain a jw for the rest of their lives?.

My Maternal side is all in...for the most part. My Mom is hardcore and would never leave. She preaches to me daily on her calls to me (she's 80 and I get a daily call to check on me). She tells me about JW.org and why I need to check it for facts on JWs.

I have told her since I grew up in it I know all I need to know. She says there is "New Light". I gag as I tell her that I don't need the new light. Period. I tell her to STOP. She will quit for a few days and start over. I also get bi-weekly mailings of Watchtowers with notes written on them. UGH!

She seriously believes that she is going to make it through the Great Tribulation and will live forever. She feels good, is in surprisingly good health and has a JW best friend who is 85 and still alive (she's also a born in). She somehow thinks that they will both make it through the Big A.

She talks about Satan and uses so many key JW only words that I don't think she could survive in the worldly world. She wouldn't know how to communicate like a normal person without using the JW verbiage.

So, will she leave the JWs? No, never. No matter the crap they do/did to her/us. She is firmly in until she kicks Memorial plate.

JWs and 9-11. What was your reaction when it happened?

I had the news on this morning and was getting ready to go out running. They said they were going to put on a 20ish minute video of 9/11...it would show what happened that morning. I started watching and all the memories flooded back. I started crying uncontrollably. And, I couldn't stop watching. Seeing the plane crash on 9/11/2011 live on TV I'll always remember. It was surreal. Seeing it again was heartbreaking.

Watching the people run down the streets covered in ash...horrible. Seeing the second plane crash; I remember vividly. I had CNBC on in 2011. They couldn't believe it. I kept changing channels to make sure it was really happening.

The worst was the people jumping. Seeing people whose only option was to jump to their death just makes me physically ill. To know that their only option was to look down and see their certain death or be burnt alive is just horrific. I cry as I type it.

The brave heroes who went in to save people are to be commended. Also the people on the plane who tried to stop the hijackers in Pennsylvania...

I never got out running today; I've been sad all day. Just a tragic day.

Serena William is 'fighting for women'?!

so serena williams lost the us open final 6-2, 6-4 to naomi osaka, her japanese-american opponent.. williams received three code violations from the umpire, carlos ramos: .

1. a warning for illegal coaching (subsequently admitted by williams's coach).

2. a point penalty for smashing her racquet.

Serena is not fighting for women. She is fighting for herself only. Just like the majority of "Feminists".

How do "I" know this? Being a woman I have been undercut, sabotaged and backstabbed by women numerous times. They are just as devious as any TV show depicts them. All for one and one for ME.

I can't wait until the first transgender tennis player shows up in women's pro tennis...Hopefully, Serena will still be playing.

Would Serena win against a Transgender woman playing against her? Would she be able to claim sexism? What if the transgender were of the same race? Racism?

This has started to happen in various sports so it's not too far-fetched...

I saw her tirade and she was completely out of line. She made the JWs look bad. A shepherding call may be in order.

As to the tennis player who changed her shirt and got penalized-many female athletes to work out in just a work out bra. That seems fine in any number of sports. Why isn't that acceptable on the tennis sidelines where the temps were soaring? She was not displaying her boobs to anyone. A sports bra is very heavy and concealing. The only thing visible was her midriff.

They are completely off the rails wacko! I, too, was lucky that I was able to go to college when it was a "choice". They didn't encourage it, yet, the internet hadn't been invented so video's like this hadn't come about. Just the locals warning you of "bad associations".

Why isn't this out in the public domain?!

Thank you zeb and ToesUp. I stopped doing sleep-overs at her house though I did ride my bike over and keep up my friendship with her. I would guess that the creepy Dad did it to her also.

Not "stumbling someone" are the keywords...I hate to use the term trigger, however, those terms just pop up because only JWs use them and that was also a control method to keep one in line.

The "abused" becomes the "abuser"

a thought occurred to me about the perpetuation of jw abusive culture.. (i do not mean sexual abuse - i am referring to emotional, or behavioural abuses).

most jws are raised in the oppressive and abusive culture of jw life.

they have been raised with low self esteem.

Very timely write up for what I am dealing with concerning my family; the JW family.

There has been lots of emotional abuse between so many members, it's hard to straighten out without a flowchart of who abused who mentally and emotionally. Now, it's starting again. They are trying to pull me in and I've been out for decades! An Octopus that has never-ending tentacles.

As a young teen, I had a friend whose father was not in. Her mother was a devoted JW and I would spend the night at her house periodically for sleepovers. Her father was a terrible drunk and slept in the basement. They had one bathroom.

Any time I was using the bathroom to shower the creepy father suddenly needed to go use the commode. He would knock and come in (no lock)!! I was horrified and would say "NO, I'm in the shower and will be right out Mr. Smith." He would come in any way, grab the shower curtain and say "It that you VIII in the shower?" Then he would hold back the curtain and go pee!

This happened a second time I was there and I told my Mother. I told her exactly what was happening. He was peeking in on me showering. I was 14 years old. My Mother's words were "Just let it go, we need him to come to Jehovah and become a Witness. Don't tell anyone what he is doing. Ignore it. You're making too big of a deal out of it and you're going to Stumble him".

To say I lost faith that day is an understatement. My own Mother completely lets me down and didn't care that my friend's father was a creepy potential molester. She was more concerned with recruiting the old, dirty drunk than me.

They are a sick, mind-controlled cult whose only goal is more recruits.

This made me laugh! If you're a Millennial, you won't know what this is...I had a crush on the one who wore a hat. I would try to avoid Field Service to watch that show.

i find this alarming because jones was very outspoken and had great guests on discussing topics most other media outlets wouldn't go near.. the fact that many have restricted him access to their medium what does this say on our freedoms of speech?.
