What Do You Think About The Police?

some people are very suspicious of the police.

some folks value policemen and women.

i’ve had experience with some.

Regarding Tenacious story above ^^: with all the license plate readers out on LEO vehicles, they know instantly if you have any outstanding warrants, etc. You were in violation of the law and he gave you a ticket for it. Your plates were expired. Good for him. That is one of their jobs.

I routinely drive on a highway where the speed limit is 70 MPH. There are always LEO, Sheriffs, and locals, who routinely drive 85. So, I get right behind them and follow. The traffic parts like the Red Sea for them. They are off duty and/or going home. They have not pulled me over in years for this. If a State Highway Patrol did it I would cruise at 70-The State Highway Patrol has jurisdiction over that road.

I've had very few encounters with LEO and am happy they are out there protecting us.

Why the Catholic Church outlast Jehovah's Witnesses

many of us who are old timers in "truth", will clearly remember how we and the organization gloated when christendom began selling off their churches, as we saw many ending up becoming cafe's and art galleries.

i personally remember being told (both in general conversation and in print) that the fall of their congregant numbers meant that most churches were ultimately attended by the elderly and it was clearly linked to the "drying up of her waters" in reference to the fall of babylon and babylon the great..

how ironic, that this very situation has now befallen the society and our local kingdom halls..

Being an Agnostic/Atheist (Not sure yet), I attend Catholic church with my better half pretty much every week. Have for the last 15 years or so. I get nothing, zero, zip, zilch out of it. I go simply to keep the single old ladies away from him.

I believe the Catholics will last a lot longer than the JWs. The JWs are a cult. Is the Catholic church? Perhaps. However, they do their thing on Sunday and move on to the next week. They do beg for money, however, it's voluntary. Pass the basket and no one cares if you throw a quarter or a bundle. If you put in an envelope no one knows how much you gave.

Honestly, they sing, read the scriptures take the collection, Deacon or Priest does the talk, then do the bread and wine and you're out in approximately an hour. That is for a 1000 size Sunday morning or 200 Saturday afternoon.

I take a nap or meditate with my eyes open. No pressure to go out and recruit new members.

I will say that at one of the local parishes we went to the Priest was from Zimbabwe and didn't like JWs. He made a point to bash them at any opportunity. Very odd. That turned me off. I could see no value to what he was saying and bashing JWs. He had a nervous breakdown recently.

i was so happy to see my wife and my brother that was shunned so long before i was interviewed for the article as well.

Great write up and very nicely done by the journalist. He covered the JW shunning really well. You covered the issues very well. I hope you and your brother are getting on and are able to have a long-term relationship.

The shunning is just unbelievable. People I know simply don't believe that the JWs are so cruel; they come off so sincere when at the door. I've given up trying to explain why my family is the way they are. I hope this gets more coverage. Kudos.

There have been so many proclamations of "Peace and Security" I stopped counting and I stopped jumping under the desking waiting for the Great Tribulation to begin. Total BS.

I grew up with Armageddon in 1975, errr, then 1989, errr, then 1990 something or other then another year. Now it's just around the corner because life on earth is so bad and everyone on earth is so evil and Satan must be unleashed. (Wasn't he for all of humanity?)

they are everywhere!

I had to get my windows washed recently (hadn't done it in years, outside only) and the hourly rate ended up being over $50.00 for the husband and wife team. Not bad.

I watched the video replay with Trevor Noah. He asked her some very good questions and she was very comfortable in front of the camera. Overall it was an awesome way to get words " Jehovahs Witnesses" and "Cult" out into the public conversation.

I received this in an email from a JW relative touting the accuracy of the NWT. My other relative went off on a JW happy rant and then went into an Armageddon rant. Crazy! This was a few years ago. They are all so cray-cray it's astounding that they can walk in general society (see how I did that? ) and not get arrested for wanting to kill off civilization.

The Watchtower Tract Society doesn't print Bibles?

after reading a few comments here, i thought it was time for me to get a copy of "the silver sword" for my own occasional research and occult practices.

so i thought i would see if jw.org would offer a way that i could purchase a printed copy (not digital) of the new world translation.

as i browsed, it occurred to me that i might also like to have a copy of the... what was it?

What your first realization of hypocrisy in this Religion?

my mother became a witness when i was five and i believed that every witness followed what was said at the meetings and the instructions given.

my naive belief carried on until maybe i was 10?

at the old conventions, volunteers would come early and pack fruit into net bags so that it could be sold at lunch.

This thread struck a nerve.

All of your examples above, I have seen or experienced on a personal level. The OPs opening post could have been written by me...I was 5 when my Mom got into the JWs gung ho (her family was in) and Armageddon was around the corner in 1975. She is the biggest hypocrite I have ever encountered. She speaks with a forked tongue and for a JW that seems normal.

I knew the JWs were phucked up by the time I was 10ish. I was planning my exit as I was planning how to move out of the house. Those went hand in hand. I didn't care if I were shunned. Glory Be! That would be fine. Being shunned by a group of NUTZ is OK with me. Seriously.

Oddly, my family is the oddsters who don't shun. I've fallen away (decades ago, married a Worldly, went to college, send holiday cards and all manner of Satan's Traps) and they still talk to me. Go figure.

The hypocritical stuff they have done over the years would make Jesus tell them "Go Away Satan!".
