"Happy day" as a Christmass substitute???

some years ago me and my wife we were visited by a relative and his wife (all jws...) ... it was few days after christmass...... upon arival they gave us nicely wraped gifts ..... we joked "wow how nice of you to get us christmass gifts...!".

they replied: well it is not for christmass, but we were with our inlaws recently, and they have this nice tradition of celebrating "happy day".

they held between christmass and new years eve ... you know, its good for kids, so when kids get back to school, they are not embarassed by not having any new presents... so we thought, its neat and decided to celebrate it as well ... how do you like the idea, it is not christmass, its just a substitute...????".

*WE*, meaning my direct sibling and I, got the "You get food, clothing and shelter from your father and I. You don't need presents. It will make you greedy and materialistic. We buy you presents everyday just by those items."

Uh, yeah, riiight.

My cousins, my Moms sister, had XYZ Day. They put up a big banner in their home, in a back bedroom, and everyone gave each other gifts. They also did this to my other aunts and cousins. We apparantly were the only ones left out. I found out by accident when I had to use the bathroom. My aunt told me to go use the one upstairs and when I got there she screamed for me to not and it was too late. I cut through my cousins room and discovered the banner and all the presents.

It actually caused a rift in the family. It was between Xmas and New Years.

My mom tried to explain that they were weak in the truth (Uncle was an Elder) and we were better for not being *Materialistic* like them.

Uh, yeah, riiight.

She is and was a cheap person.

When were people of color 1st accepted in the Borg?

it is my understanding that at one point, witnesses were taught that after armeggedon black people would be turned white, since they were inferior.

so when was this teaching rescended, and what was the progression of minorities the borg?.

We had 2 Black families at our KH. This was outside Chicago proper. Suburb.

I recall them coming to get togethers, weddings, etc.

We also quite a had quite a few Latinos. And a few Asians.

Being Chicago, now, this might be common, however, in the 60's and 70's I don't know how common it was. I was a kid and didn't think anything of it. My school was mixed, so it seemed normal.

I do know that only the white guys were Elders and MS.

Most annoying and irritating comments by JWs

since i'm still suffering in this crackerjacks organization, these are some of statements that just drive me nuts.

1. in service: "we are not here to convert you" funny how jws have the true religion but resort to deception and outright lies in order to get people to listen

2. to other jws: "we won't have to deal with this in the new system" 7 billion evil doers dead and gone, no longer create problems for us

So glad we know what Jehovah has in store for the righteous and for the

When you read these words and how calmly they are written, it is chilling. That is why I believe they would drink Kool-Aid.

I have no doubt, if told during a Sunday meeting to drink it NOW, the FDS orders it, The GT is starting and it will calm (kill) you, they would. One by one to die.

And/or, if told they had to kill people in order to serve Jehovah and to survive into the New System, I also think many would.

I know for a fact my Mom would. She is a brain dead (washed) lemming.

an 82-year-old man who entered a meeting of jehovahs witnesses armed with a submachine gun, three magazines, a samurai sword and a knife has been arrested, bielefeld police reported on friday.. some 81 members of the church were gathered in their kingdom hall on dunlopstrae in the citys sennestadt district when a congregation member noticed the masked elderly man enter the vestibule waving the machine gun around 8:45 pm on thursday.. .

the witness quietly informed the congregation and directed them to escape the building via emergency exit, a police statement said.. .

I have to admit, I first burst out laughing and second thought was "it has to be over a DFing".

Very sad.

On one hand I'm glad he didn't hurt anyone, on the other I wish he had.

However, if he had hurt someone they would claim they were persecuted. Now that he didn't hurt anyone they can claim they are protected by Jehovah.

MY B-I-L IS IN THE HOSPITAL

here's another update on my brother in law:.

my sister and b-i-l went to the cancer center in toronto earlier this week to see about getting the stemcell transplant for his disease.

it was actually an encouraging visit as the oncologist there said that they did not feel his condition had progressed into the acute myloid leukemia yet and that he had longer---up to 2 years---than what his local oncologist had said.

I Have A New Grandson But He's Very Sick :(

he was born yesterday with many complications including breathing problems, possible lung underdevelpment, anemia and body temperature issues.

the poor little guy was hooked up to a breathing tube and tons of monitors.

because the hospitals couldn't handle some of the problems, they sent him and my daughter to the best hospital in boston last night.

OMG!!

I have to start reading the ingredients on stuff and when and if I'm in the hospital I am not going to sign away anything. I am also going to let my friend know about the placenta signing away business. I don't think she knew. I'll tell her to ask the doc. This is eye opening.
