  Very sorry to hear this OTWO. You are a great brother to be helping your sister so much.

  My sister was in a very similar situation with her POS husband as she was dying last year. Her situation closely parallels your sisters. BIL refusing to work, asking MIL to pay the bills etc. Sis got a restraining order against him a few years ago. Then when she knew she was terminal she allowed him to be power-of-attorney. That sealed her fate. At least, right now, your Sister is letting you help her. That's good.

  Hang in there. Try to remember any positive memories of your sister. You'll cherish those later.

  This blog write up, which I read in full, was one of the best! It was funny and on point to all the crazy stuff JWs do and believe. Pretty impressive. He must have been bothered to the boiling point and blew.

  Wy isn't this crap mailed to a media outlet? Ask someone in the Press to go to the WTS and ask them their current beliefs on rape and how a woman should react. I get the feeling they would have an interesting reaction.

  i live nowhere near the east coast, nor does my jw mother in law.

  but according to my wife, mommy dearest thinks "sandy" is the latest sign that gawd almighty is about to bring about the end.. so i ask my lovely jw wife what she thinks, amazingly she says its probably just another storm, though it does look bad.

  i tell her yes, i agree, and if there is anything we can do to help out, i am willing to help.

  I've had three calls this AM from my JW mom about the storm. And how bad, etc. And last week I got an email that "they" declared Peace and Security at the UN so it really is the GT!!

  This just proves it. A hurricane hitting NY! A JW dream come true!

  my father passed around 9 this morning.

  he'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone.

  we are going to miss him terribly.

  My condolences Jeff. Your father was an incredible man! He saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Likely more. What a man to have as a father.

  Eric passing has affected me deeply on the heels of my sisters death less than a year ago. She was totally shunned by our family after her DFing.

  SAD news about OOMPA......

  our friend, oompa, has passed away.

  just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.

  it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

  I read the whole thread and got shivers and tears in my eyes. I'm so sorry he felt so lost and had no way out.

  "no one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.".

  ironically, the religion and publisher of this statement is one of the biggest offenders with their shunning policy of its members who come to the conclusion that their form of worship is unacceptable.. for some, this severe shunning is too much to bear.. ...help me through this my old friends...i really did not want to be dfd!...i am fourth generation....i had already been shunned by my lifelong friends due to my outspoken words regarding my discovering we had changed the bible to make it say what jw's want it to...but now i have lost my family....oomps.

  I just logged on and read the thread on oompa. I am so sad.

  I do take every opportunity to yell people about the Jdubs shunning, in context. They are always shocked.

  I Do Not Think Everyone That is a JW Wastes Their Life

  my 97 year old grandmother died last week.

  she was actually born and raised a jw.

  her mother (my great grandmother) was a russelite.

  Sorry for your loss magwitch.

  Personally, I have zero fond memories of my Grandmother. She abandoned her family to go preach Jehovah's word in the 1950's. My mother was left as a 12YO to raise her siblings.

  Grandma showed up years later (decades) when I was 13 and told me I was going to die at Armagedon because I hadn't put in enough hours out in FS. This was in 1975, the summer. First time out of the two times I met the old lunatic.

  While I suppose some of those "old school witnesses" could be nice, the vast majority I knew in the Chicago area were a bunch of eff'd up angry, waiting for The Great Tribulation to start nut jobs. This includes my great-grandparents, my grandparents and my Mom and her siblings.

  Saying they were fulfilled and lived happy lives is like saying a Stepford Wife lives one.

  But, again, sorry for your loss.
