"Confessions of a teenage Jesus jerk"

has anyone else seen the movie "confessions of a teenage jesus jerk"?.

im still processing it, and trying to work out my thoughts..... i would be interested in others thoughts..

I just watched it.

The writer did make it seem like the JWs are obsessed with sex. Which, in the realm of sins, they are.

The teenagers getting a copy of Crisis of Conscience was interesting. I don't know what year it came out (can't remember) but, that would have been bold for 17-year olds to read. I doubt I would have tried and I had questions way back before. I wouldn't have bothered.

The Worldly cousin was a little disconcerting.

I was thinking of all the JW stuff that happened growing up (during the same time) and it pretty much mirrored the movie between friends and family. Very weird.

As noted above, you would have to have some understanding of the JW principals to understand what was going on.

And, yes, growing up a JW sucks no matter how you cut it.

I get my Mom trying to get me back with the "You know you can read all about the new stuff we're doing on JW.org. It has beautiful videos and all kinds of interesting things."

I've literally hung up on her mid-sentence. She will call back and I'll blame the cell service. I simply cannot stomach the thought of seeing or hearing about this Borg.

a&e has a new show this season called cults and extreme belief.

the second episode will air on 5/29 at 9:00 pm and jehovah's witnesses will be featured.

hopefully they do a good job exposing them for what they really are.

I looked on their website and they name lots of cults but not the JWs. I hope they show up...The first episode is May 28 and is on the group Nxivm. That is the group that came out in the last few weeks where celebrities and others were held as sex slaves for a nutty guru.

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away

he was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.

when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.

then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

Very sorry for your loss Minimus. Losing a sibling, even one we've drifted apart from is difficult.

Being a JW kid is hell

in therapy, i was told i should write a letter of grievances to each of my parents.

i really do not have any for my mother, except for things that directly relate to being raised as a jehovah's witness.

upon reflection, my childhood was hell because of the religion and its pernicious corruption of a normal childhood.

JRK, very sorry for what you went through. Many of us were bullied and beat up in school. The whole no Pledge and no singing...no Birthdays, no Halloween, no Xmas, no holidays kids did back then (60s & 70s). We had recess and gym class and no one wanted me on their team because I was that Loser Jehovah kid who was always put out in the hallway or in the coat room during party time when it was someone's birthday or a holiday.

I was relentlessly picked on by a couple of boys from grade 5 through high school. They lived down the street..

My Mom told me, a girl, to beat them up. Three boys. Umm, yeah, it doesn't work that way against three boys.

My Mother let us down in so many ways so she could put the Cult first. I, too, was molested and she told me to shut up about it because it was a Worldly father of a JW friend and he won't join the Cult if I told anyone. To this day I despise her when she talks about Child Abuse victims and ignored my own pleas to not be put in that situation with my friend.

I literally just got off the phone with her. She invited me to the Memorial. I wanted to tell her to F-off. I hate this Cult with every fiber of my being.

What do I do ?

hey guys, this is my first time posting on here but lets get started.. so i'm a 17 year old boy who currently attends meetings at a congregation in indianapolis.

i live with my grandparents, on my father's side, because my mother died in 2010. i been attending meetings since i was 10. my mother got into the religion but then got disfellowshiped.

my dad is on and off, he currently just got reinstated.

I was baptized when I was 12-all my family was in. Parents were divorced and Dad was DFd for smoking, sister DFd for fornication, Mom was DFd for fornication. Mom was reinstated. She's still in...40+ years later!!

I faded when I started college. Community college. I used the excuse of not going out in Field Service (FS) that I had homework. What was more important? My getting good grades or a few less hours in FS? My Mom decided that my getting good grades was critical to lifelong success.

I also worked because I was paying for my college. I had student loans and I thought I had to pay them immediately...D'oh! Anyway, it also provided cover for a good fade. Work, homework and I had meetings and FS covered.

Think hard about college or Vo-Tech. Whatever you do, get an education. They can't take that away from you.

Never send a letter and never meet with them to tell them what you are doing. They will want to bully you, guilt you and frighten you into staying. What kind of "loving" organization does that? None, they are a cult by definition. Scientologists are just as bad. Ask Lea Remini.

My Mom and family still talk to me because my response to JW questions is "Mmmm" or "huh" or a grunt. I never agree or disagree. I find an excuse to get off the phone. Learn to bite your tongue and you'll have a relationship with the family....if you want one.

International Covention...my elevator ride with head of Bethel and his ass kiss assistant!!

melbourne international convention australia, thousands of watchtower robots and i happened to get in an elevator with viv mouritz one of the main men at bethel.

he had a young pretty sister who was escorting him around.

i stood behind them and rocognized him instantly.

When I was in college, it was close to an Amish community. One of my roommates worked at one of the Amish dairy's during her summers and holidays. She had lots of pics of her wearing the Amish head covering. She said she got so used to wearing it, she wore it all the time! She never thought about it until I took a Middle Eastern Religions studies class. It opened her eyes. She took it off and only wore it when working.

My Mom, still in, will put the napkin on her head unthinkingly. I have gotten on her for her completely wacko views like this. It drives me crazy. On other issues regarding men vs. women she is a feminist. I have no idea how she reconciles being a JW on one hand and a "feminist" on the other.
