I lived a double life for 7 years before I left. I guess longer if you start from when I decided I was an athiest, that would make it 9 or 10 years. I drank from the time I left home at 17, tried cigs, tried some other drugs, partied and associated with "worldly" people. The whole time I was a ministerial servant and considered in good standing. The only thing I didn't do was fornicate. First time I did that, I turned myself in and surprisingly enough was not repentant so I was DFed. Good ridance.

I have walked out of a field service meeting, said I wasn't feeling well, it was the truth, I was terribly hung over. Another time I had to wait until after the field service meeting to leave for the same reason, I was conducting.

Did you loose your faith after leaving the false?
by wtfmidoing innew to this and as a nonbeliever i would like to ask how many people lost their belief in a god after leaving the wts.
what opened your eyes?
what made the light get brighter?

I lost my faith before I left. And really all I needed to destroy any faith I might have had was the bible.

Reading Genesis 1 with only a basic scientific background, and the same for the flood account.
And when I began to examine doctrine, things fell apart even quicker.

Is Being A Snitch A Popular Activity In The Kingdub?
by Yizuman inhow often do dubs hear someone snitch about a wrong doing from a brother or sister?.
how often do you hear of a snitch going to the elders to stir up a lynch mentality against a brother or sister?.
is there some points being earned for all this or do they think jehovah will reward them for being a snitch?.

My father and brother have both snitched on me. I would say it is pretty common among "loyal" JWS.

JW's unwritten dress code and personal appearance standards-FROM WHERE?
by Thechickennest inone thing that always use to puzzle me was the personal appearance standards, espessially for meetings and service.
the men always were expected to where a tie, suit, jacket, etc.
no beards were allowed-mustaches were ok!

Back in the day when I was a poor college student (big strike against me already), some local brothers decided if a MS or Elder was on the stage they had to be wearing at least a 2 piece suit, a nice jacket and pants wouldn't work if. I told them not to assign me anything then, eventually the PO said that rule was too far.

Bad Haircuts.
by cluless ini lost all confidence in myself today - i cut my hair and it looks terrible-so strange to think all courage i had in myself could evaporate with a haircut.. then i rememberd all the courage i had (the doors i knocked and theocratic talks i gave) in the name of jehover.. (i guess iam the oposite of sampson !!).
anyway i was thinking whilst being a j-w was one long bad -haircut.
what were the positives?.

I haven't cut my hair since I left the JWs. Stupid rule about no long hair.

The Worse Mandatory JW Activity You Hated The Most
by Yizuman inof all things jw, what particular mandatory activity you really hate the most that you have to do or attend?.
why do you hate it?.
yiz.

Of course field service was the worst required activity, in all its forms.
Giving talks was hell, especially if they were on some subject you disagreed with.
And some of the mandatory inactivies were especially bad, like no celebration at all, this was especially hard in school as a kid.

I took the '1914 Generation' prophecy seriously, did you? Do you even remember it?!
by nicolaou ini was born in 1964, 50 years after 1914. even in my teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!

I don't know that I would say I ever took it seriously, I had a hard time buying into all that prophecy crap. But I guess at one time I did try to believe it. I certainly do remember it, and I remember getting in trouble at the family study for questioning the change.
