  Knock Knock...

  i'd be interested in hearing some of the exjw's door-to-door experiences.

  i've probably had the saturday morning door knocking...maybe 6-8 times.

  i've never been "rude" except for once...when i had a particularly aggressive pair who wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer.

I'm sure some do not enjoy it, they would rather be doing other things, but the majority do enjoy it. Some might not like door-to-door work, but they enjoy informal witnessing. A popular facet of the preaching work today is phone witnessing. Some hate it others love it as they can be sitting in the Hall sipping on a cup of coffee (or tea for our British friends) while they talk to people.

  YoYo, It's fine to post your personal feelings about the marketing work, but to speak in behalf of the majority of witnesses is just silly. I'm sure most do not enjoy it. Most probably dislike door-to-door work, but they do enjoy telemarketing. It's apparently popular with witnesses today, as they can sit on their butts sipping on coffee/tea while they hoodwink people instead of putting any real effort into it. Just make a phone call, tell them who they are, and listen to the phone hang up, and mark the time.

  Any other churches call themselves the 'truth'??

  old habits die hard...and quite often in my comments i will refer to the borg as the 'truth'.

  does anyone know of any other churches that refer to their own particular church or religion as the 'truth'??

  also, does anyone know how it originated...all my life i have used the term...comments like 'how long have u been in the truth?

  personally i love cooking...something about being in a hot kitchen...kneading bread...the way it feels under your hands...then sticking it in a hot oven and watching it rise...slathering butter all over it and eating it with your fingers...uuummm is there anything better?

  MadAss: I like everything you post except when you get all bent out of shape about the cliques and crap around here. Please leave that kind of griping for folkes like me who have nothing of real substance to contribute. Who cares if AlanF calls you a troll. He's just a god among men, and he can't understand things from a mortal's point of view. I've learned to except that, why don't you?

  tubal ligations

  hello all...been lurking between puppy grooms...just had to post this one!.

  my daughter and x-hubby (inactive jw for many years) went to dinner the other night at grannies( hard nosed jw) and was told that the wtbs says that jw's can no longer have tubal ligations.

  the reasoning was it interferes with the "natural order" of things.

  hehe, i knew that thread topic would get me lots & lots of hits!

  ok, here's the situation: my dear friend refuses to be convinced that we were not created by aliens (or some higher form of life, apparently outside the universe) about 8,000 or so years ago.

  here are the arguments i have presented to him and what he said.

  Nimrod: Many of these folks are the same people who are in denial about all of the Hydrogen that the Mars Odessey probe just found. (Quite probably H2O). They still tell all of the arm-chair researches who found evidence in MGS photos of seeps and small channels of running water on mars that they are looney when they now may be faced with the fact that Mars is not chocking up to be the dry, barren place we all thought it was.

  I guess some folks are not ready to face that some cherrished notions may have to be put in question. They weren't ready when viking found what it probably did, and they are not ready now for what odessey most likely will find.

  While I disagree with many of your conclusions Nimrod, I understand fully the frustration you face.

  Just remember, that *IF* one day in your lifetime you are found to be even partially correct, you will have some gloating to do. Just remember to keep it an *IF*, and don't become fanatical, otherwise, you'll be as looney as they say you are! (ref: Richard C. Hoagland)

  BTW, do yourself a favor, watch out for G. Hancock, all he cares about are his damn books; fibbed star-alignments and all.

  Hmm... How can a "free" gift that is unearnable have conditions for it's giving? Then by definition, the gift is not free and comes with stipulations. After addressing these, you then have salvation. Umm.... Can you say... contradiction? Can you say... Hello cultists?

  It's amazing to see the power of the human brain. Capable of adhering to two opposing viewpoints on the same subject at the same exact time. Fascinating neurosis. And I thought it was only possible in Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy.

  Yes it can, and no it can't.

  As long as anything considered 'truth' is based on belief instead of concreate indisputable evidence by ALL parties involved, True/False is in the eye of each beholder, IMO.
