ROTFLMAO
Sitchin! It's interesting, Sitchin even goes so far as to hypothesize which Sumerian god Jehovah might be.
Luckily, it's only a hypothesis!!! ;)
i have been reading some on sumerian mythology.
now, it's said the sumerians predated hebrew writings by several centuries or longer.
the sumerians are the first writers.

Hi LDH.
The Sumerians are believed (by some) to be the originators of agriculture and organized living even in times before Abraham.
Sumerians had their history wrapped up in what many would consider to be "outlandish claims", and therefore quite a bit of Sumerian's written "history" is discounted as a contrived mythology.
This being so, despite the fact that the ancient Sumerians knew more of our solar system than any other race of people on the Earth at that time (at least, the people that wrote anything). And this without even having a telescope, only going by what they were told by their "gods". What is interesting is that this "mythology" of theirs is being proven as tride and true by today's astronomers. Interesting stuff, but dig too deep...
And you might not like what you find. Otherwise, this article is pretty "safe" as it is accepted by mosts scientists.

i've heard many people tell me about bible prophesy.
if the bible can predict future events then it stands to reason that those events are predetermined and man has no choices in this world.
think about all the choices you've made in your life and how different life for you would be if you had done things differently.
Oh ok.
Sorry larc.
(Interesting info, BTW).
the biggest problem that jehovahs witnesses have to deal with, is that they expect to live forever.. i think that this belief messes up their minds, interferes with their personal growth and also stops them from learning how to live with loss.
it is, after all, a totally unnatural belief.
everything around us comes and goes, lives then decays.. believing that you can live forever means that you can never risk taking time away from your beliefs so that you can re-appraise them.
"it will all be straightened out in the New System"
Not dissimilar to:
"Shoot'um all and let God sort it out."
i would like to know who is an atheist here and why you like to take part in discussions on this board?.
thanks for your replies.
idaho:
Are you really a viking? That's a new one.
Never met one before.
Um, hello.
Uh, please don't cut me up too bad...
if we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:.
57 asians.
21 europeans.
Not my day today. Can't spell the smiley right.

hey larc:
Are you describing fundemantalists or millenialists? I thought "fundys" were the folks that were stuck in the gospels, and the "millenialists" were stuck in armegeddon.
as one of jehovah's witnesses for many years i was, of course, fully opposed to the idea that the god of the bible was a "triune" god.
for the first couple years after leaving the witnesses i continued to hold strong anti-trinity views.
a few years ago i accepted jesus christ as my personal lord and savior.
Take care. The feeling is mutual.

What you percieve as TRUTH is only your opinion.
Except that or not.
"TRUTH is not what all believes, TRUTH is but what you perceive"
