Studying "What Does the Bible Really Teach?"

i can't believe it.

i've actually had two studies with my sister from that book.

yesterday, she told me i was being argumentative.

Chapter 4...

I felt a tad confused throughout the study today. We only got to paragraph 10...there was an asterisk that referred us to pgs.197-199, where it discusses how they came to certain dates. I think I had too much coffee today because my brain kept jumping like Dori from Finding Nemo.

As mentioned above, we are also reading the bible, cover to cover...in our own separate time. I'm up through Genesis 27...so far its very tough to see god as a loving god. I got the giggles while I was reading one of the paragraphs in this book & my mind started to go back to my bible reading & I pictured Rebeka putting the skins of baby goats on her son Jacob to make him hairy like his brother & it supposedly tricked Isaac.

We also discussed birthdays a little more. I mentioned Genesis 21:8 where it appears Abraham threw a party for Isaac on the 'day he was weaned', which was customarily done on the child's birthday. I checked out a few different religion's websites and that is their conclusion. My sister basically said that it looks to her that it was a one-time-only celebration of his being weaned & that its okay for jw's to celebrate those kinds of things. *sigh*

as a sidenote, in genesis 21....abraham threw isaac a party on the day he was weaned.

Has anyone had Lasik Surgery?

everybody whose had it says great things except their night vision is a lil off.

i went walking this morning & saw a duck but i thought it was a gopher at first .

do you know of anybody whose had lasik & is happy or unhappy with the results?.

I....don't... EEEEven wanna know what a microkeratome is. My eyes are so sensitive....if somebody else's eyes are watering, mine start to water too. When I go to the eye doctor, it freaks me out when they blow that puff of air in your eyeball.

Are you saying the OT is not the word of god, PSAC? I am VERY ignorant with this...sorry for my silly questions. Why is the OT in the Bible then?

Yeah, both my eyes are -5.75...its rediculous & annoying. Thanks for sharing

I need it! Everybody whose had it says great things except their night vision is a lil off. I went walking this morning & saw a duck but I thought it was a gopher at first . My eyes are always red after wearing my contacts & I'm blind as a bat. My glasses need a different Rx. It sucks to go swimming a lose a contact lens. When you sweat, your glasses get all foggy.

Matter of Factly, I DID wonder why they were redundant in some of the stories.....it was like the same sentence put in a different way, just 4 verses later. I just ordered that book online...thanks Primate!

I will do that today! Thank you, Primate. Can you give me a clue though? I'm DYING TO KNOW! I am. For real....who wrote the Bible/OT? I know I appear to 'sound' sarcastic, but I'm not this time.
