Also, I am not entirely sure where they get the 1919 date from.

Yes, I know that. I asked if it were possible to explain it in a few paragraphs, not an essay.

Howdy,
I am researching material into the 607 BCE debate (what debate?) for a series of articles I want to run off in the new year on my JWB blog, and as usual, JWN has proven so valuable. Thing is, I need to try and explain 607 BCE to a layman. You see, disproving it is ever so simple, but what why is it important to disprove it? What significance does that date have on the Jehovah's Witness faith?
Can any of you try to explain what the Watchtower doctrine on 607 BCE is within a couple of paragraphs (including 1914,1919, Daniel's prophecy, etc.)? If you can, it would be such a big help to me.
Love,

Today's Watchtower study shows how desperate they are
by Mickey mouse init seems as though at least one article in every issue of the study watchtower is devoted to reinforcing the governing body's authority.
this from pargraph 10:.
10 christ provides loving oversight of his congregations on earth by means of appointed elders.

By the way, can you tell me what Watchtower that article is in (date and title of the actual Watchtower and of the article)?

"Today, most congregation elders are of the other sheep. They are appointed after prayer and under the guidance of the holy spirit, so they too can be regarded as under Christ’s direction, or guiding hand."
Wow, really? Are you sure? I only ask because my sisters boyfriend was appointed an elder before they got married. I caught them shagging on more than one occasion before he became an elder and after he was appointed. Oh, they weren't married either at that point.
So, either they're lying, or the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society have proved my atheism to be correct!
I've got to write an article about this on JWB!

Does the WTS state that Dinosaurs were vegetarian?
by God_Delusion inhowdy,.
i recently watched the jurassic park trilogy (give the third one a miss if you haven't watched it) and memories of an awake!
or watchtower magazine of dinosaurs being vegetarian flashed before my eyes.

I don't think Noah realised the fleas were with him on the boat that held around 10 million animals. Which son get's the blame for everything? Is it Ham? The fleas must have been on his head.

Howdy,
I recently watched the Jurassic Park trilogy (give the third one a miss if you haven't watched it) and memories of an Awake! or Watchtower magazine of Dinosaurs being vegetarian flashed before my eyes. I am pretty sure the magazine was released at around the time of either the first or second Jurassic Park films and the front cover displayed dinosaurs eating plants (that last part may be my mind playing tricks on me).
I also remember being told that Jehovah had created dinosaurs to be vegetarian, and that included the T-Rex being the most ferocious veggie king out there.
I could never quite grasp why Jehovah would have created what looked to have been (and has scientifically been proven to be) an apex predator, only to allow it to munch on grass and the tops of trees?
If anyone else remembers the article that I can remember, please let me know. Also, if you have any quotes from the WTS in relation to the dinosaurs diet, please jot them down in your comments.
Kind regards,

Is Another 1975 Possible?
by God_Delusion inhowdy,.
do you think the society has a planned campaign where they will state that armageddon will be upon us within the next 10 years and actually state that armageddon will definitely hit by 2020?
we all know that they have been drumming into us that "the end is just around the corner", but can you see them pulling another 1975 stunt in order to bring in additional members?.

To be honest, if the world's media access wasn't as easy to access as it is today, I could believe that they would be capable of attempting another marketing campaign. But with the internet already stopping thousands of potential one's progressing on to baptism, and also making active Jehovah's Witnesses leave (and become apostates, like me), I can't see them doing it.
If they did, it would be the end of the Society as we know it. Now I know a lot of you will quote 1975 and tell me that they are still around even after that fiasco, but I can tell you that if the internet existed in the form it does today, back in 1975, there would be no WTS.
Here's to begging that they actually go ahead and do it!
