This is a great question! The Person studied with me is actually missionary. I haven’t seen him in about 15 years. Ironically, he is in town for a few weeks. I will be hooking up with some old witness friends Very soon. Definitely a little nervous, but I am still going to go. I have always usied the excuse that because of my demanding job, I can’t make all the meetings. I think it’s been at least four years though… LOL

Is The Person Who Helped You “Get Into The Truth” Still Around?
by minimus ini helped, unfortunately, many people to become baptized jws.
recently, over the last few years, i saw many of my students who were still “ in the truth “ lament that i was no longer associating or active in the faith.. i do feel bad that i did such a good job that most of them still are in the cult.. are your teachers still around or did they wise up and leave the lord’s organization?
?.

What is the current pulse in the organization with the reductions?
by SouthCentral ini have not seen jehovah’s witnesses in my neighborhood for several years now.
it appears that the cart witnessing has taken over.
congregations are being consolidated and witnesses are being forced to travel a greater distance than before.the burdens/privileges of elders seem to be ever increasing!.

I used to think that something earth shattering would happen! Something to awaken the masses! I can see that no matter what happens, the average witness will not change. A few will leave when something tragic happens to them (I.e. Blood transfusions, molestation…) but for the most part, the numbers will continually Remain stagnant.
Unfortunately, many inactive witnesses still believe this is the truth and the only way to salvation.

It’s hard to imagine someone methodically doing the same things again and again with out any tangible reward!
I really don’t understand.
One of my former best friend has been in the same house congregation for over 40 years. Totally perplexed me!!!

An Elder who is Partially handicapped, informed me that he was reassigned to a KH 20 miles away from his home. It’s hard to believe that this is happening without resistance. He said it was also the organization could save on electrical cost. This now allows every kingdom hall to be closer to capacity. I told him, unfortunately it’s at your expense!
How do people clearly see that the emperor has no clothes on and willingly keep quiet about it for 30+years. Even when it causes a hardship upon them!

Since the end does not appear any closer than it did when I was pioneering 30 years ago; what is the current sentiment of the average witness, what is The motivation of people that have been knocking on doors for 30 years?
Do they still feel that the end is close? Are they pursuing careers? I know some that were motivated purely for friendships. 90% of my friends have left the organization, so I don’t have a resource for data points anymore.

Field Ministry is like 1980 Milk Carton Missing Child
by LevelThePlayingField inimagine going to the door today and showing the householder a milk carton from 1980 with a missing child on it and asking, "have you ever seen this child?
" the householder looks and quickly says, "no i haven't, sorry.".
then the next door, same thing.

Great post! I remember going door to door in the 80s and you were absolutely correct! The generation of 1914 could not pass away!
If anyone knows, please share what is the current pulse of the organization. I would love to know what motivates people today.

The Latest Thing Waking People Up...
by pale.emperor insince i woke up and left i've been contacted by others i knew from my youth who've also left the cult.
also people around the world on facebook adding me out of the blue because we have mutual friends and they occasionally ask me stuff or share their story.. what i've noticed in the vast majority of cases, is that people are waking up not because of the arc or doctrine but apathy.
active jws are becoming less and less interested, less and less bothered.

I am not sure how the average witness can keep up the pace of relentless mundane activities. I never knew so many people waste their vacation to attend convention! That alone would make me want to leave sooner than I did.

Nowadays How Does One Become An Elder?
by minimus ini was appointed jan 1 1980 and back then it was a big deal to“qualify”.
i was the youngest elder appointed in the district!
i actually studied everything from the societies publications and listened to anything i was told to do.

I have heard of sisters handling the Microphones and taking Responsibilities that were reserved for men in the past. It’s surprising if The organization remains strict on their requirements.

Slang or Terms Only Used by Bethelities
by new boy inthere are many terms used at bethel that might sound foreign to normal people.
there are many words or terms used at bethel that are unique only to their organization.
here are just a few of them.. “a jack” this is someone who is a slacker or just lazy.. “a pot licker” this term has been used for many years but its connotation is unclear.
