What is an acceptable way to protest? Sit during the pledge?!
Something that is not disruptive or upsets people?
marches, sit ins, traffic blocking is the new normal for people to demonstrate.
they block highways, state buildings and roadways.
they may even get arrested but invariably get turned loose by the courts.. i think it’s disgraceful to demonstrate this way.

the basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we ever walk away. Many of us read the magazines and check Jw,,org on a regular basis. My wife criticizes me for looking at the evil apostate sites on YouTube… But I dedicated my entire life to this… And I can’t stop looking in the rearview. Just my opinion I could be wrong. But I’ve come to realize this is my truth. Never leaving the truth… After finding out the truth about the truth!
at least at the moment it looks like no one is dead, but 6 injured (9:00 am pacific time 14 nov 2019).. i don't know if the school allows students to carry weapons, but many will think it would be a good idea for the students to carry concealed weapons to provide personal protection.. we shall see.. rub a dub.
The 14-year-old child that was killed is from a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I know several members personally. I was told that the child attended the kingdom hall as well; but I am not sure.
some people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".
i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.
I believed it all… When I stop believing (1995 generation teaching change) my attendance was sporadic for over a decade. I stopped going about four years ago.
i can never understand why some people simply stink.they don’t smell themselves??
i knew of certain jws that had to be counseled many times because they refused to regularly bathe, wash their hair or use deodorant.
and it’s not just witnesses.
Some odors come from INSIDE the body vs. dirt on the outside. I knew a witness with Trimethylaminuria (TMAU). No matter how much bathing the person bathed, There was still an odor. I knew someone who killed them selves because the friends were so cruel at the KH.
the fires have been hitting many areas of los angeles lately.
recently, i checked my home voicemail and noticed messages from several elders.
they were calling everyone on their “books” to ensure that they were ok.. i assume this is the protocol for a natural disaster.
When I went to the congregation in my neighborhood… The elders would stop by prior to every circuit overseer visit (twice a year). I would never share my true feelings, I would just let them count their 20 minutes of time and move on. This was VERY frustrating to them because they wanted a reason that I had stopped going to the hall. I would just blame it on a demand job. I had a good relationship with many of them.
At this new KH, I’d only went once to a meeting… My wife went a few times more times, so they don’t know us.
i did not change my number, because we never really use our house telephone. It’s a relic we really don’t use. We live about 15 miles from the KH, which is a long way in Los Angeles. Not really worth the trip for strangers.

I assume this is the protocol for a natural disaster. We Had our publisher cards moved to a distant congregation… And then stop going to the meetings about four years ago. I thought this was the ultimate
”fade”
I was still very surprised they reached out.
One said… “If you don’t return our call, will have to stop by!”
Of course, that made me I respond!
perhaps not a topic for everybody... mine.. in both sp service in a foreign field in europe , the freedom and helping people to read and write in spanish .
doing a lot of work in the congregations.. in missionary-service.. helping congregations in a third-world country and see good results in family relations.
and the siestas from 13:00 to 15:00..... who has good memories of bethel?
I really enjoyed regular pioneering! I was getting 90 hours a month while in high school. I met some great people and Made great friends…
I went to awesome Jehovah’s Witness gatherings!
I almost married a woman from Pioneer school!
i was a jw from infancy.
we had a melting pot type of congregation.
i grew up with all types of witnesses , all with different backgrounds.
Awesome topic! I grew up in congregations that were 95+ percent black. It was a great experience! I even went to integrated congregations in Southeast Texas… I never experienced any racism at all… Until I moved to the antelope Valley, which is aSuburban 80 miles outside of Los Angeles. I could not believe how many of the friends were biased. In hindsight, it was a horrible experience!
It was disturbing to see that people that I worked with were less racist than God’s chosen Jehovah’s Witnesses (in Palmdale/ Lancaster California)!!
I also heard of (20+ years) black elders that moved to predominantly white areas and despite a letter recommendation, would have to wait a few years before being reappointed.
the wtbts is not being given special room rates by 2 major hotels at the long beach convention center area for the upcoming 2020 regional conventions & wt is t'd off.
letters are being read in surrounding circuits and congregations.
apparently wt is afraid that other hotels are going to blackball them as well.. has anyone else heard this?
