When I went to the ASSemblies in Calgary,AB I usually seen one or two get baptized but I'm sure I've been through at least one assembly without any candidates. BTW these assemblies were usually around 850-950 people in size.

This Week's Article - Young People's Baptism
by jgnat inthis is the first study article from the april 15, 2010 watchtower, titled "young people - strengthen your desire to serve jehovah.
" i hit paragraph four and i just had to pause to comment.
i am pretty darn sure this is a softening of the jehovah's witness stance regarding the appropriate age for baptism.

The Grandest "witness" that each of us could give to the world looks to be shortly upon us. Will you be there? (In honor of Ray Franz)
by StoneWall inmany of us are aware of the stroke that raymond franz had yesterday,.
that he is on life support and it doesn't look like he is going to pull through.. someone on another thread mentioned if he didn't survive how many.
was planning on attending his funeral.. to me this deserves its own thread.. .

Ray is a humble man and anyone who read his book would see that. He didn't want confrontation and didn't leave with his tail between his legs but was kicked out by fuck3rs who had no balls to kick him out themselves but who used their pee-ons to do their will. Ray didn't want to start a church or a following and he doesn't have one but many of us who realized of wts lies because of him or who just read his story came to respect the man as someone who deserves respect. Humility that Ray displayed is rare to come by in this world and it deserves our respect, speaking against such a man is plain ignorant. B-Rock, if you want to do something confrontational against wts or GB no one here is stopping you here.

One in a million, most humble man I ever had contact with. Stroke is a horrible thing to go through and if possible I hope he comes out fine. I've read COC after leaving the cult but he has helped so many and anyone who has ever contacted him knows what a kind man he is. So sad that such good people have to suffer something like a stroke while maggots like GB still are in existence causing misery to millions - where is God here?

How could watchtower teach Jesus returned invisibly in 1874 for some 50 years and yet not be a false prophet?
Definition of "soon"? Since wts has been preaching the end is soon for the last 130 years.

Raising cash or cashing out? Will wts re-invest cash into more KHs, printing presses or will they buy land or stocks, bonds or other assets having nothing to do with jws?

WTS will peak some time after 2014 and will start to actually decline in numbers. Now that new generation teaching is going around 1914 will have to be on the chopping list sometime in the near future. Less and less they print 1914 in their pubs the more likely they scrap the bs teaching in the future

Info For Newbies and Current Jehovah's Witnesses! Please Read!
by mentallyfree31 inexample: gravity is real.
because if 607 bce is wrong, then so is 1914 and 1918 and 1919. very simple.
so if we cannot trust secular research, then we can definitely discard the date of 607 bce.

I just wanted to add that Russell taught that heavenly ressurrection began in 1878 thus he was ressurected unon his death in 1916 and again in 1918 when Rutherford changed the ressurection date teaching. So we can say that Russell was resurrected twice, once in 1916 and again in 1918

generation teaching reconsidered
by inbetween inwas thinking about this new generation teaching, and to some extend it makes sense, let me explain.. first of all, i personally believe, it only applied to jesus time, it only made sense there, and when jesus talked about it, in the year 33, this generation certainly observed the events leading to jerusalems destruction 70 ce.
( even though the context does not really give much hint, since he talks about the sign of the son of man being seen in heaven etc, something that did not happen in the first century).
the main question is, what is a generation ?.

A good book on generations and human life cycles is a book The Fourth Turning. It's a hard read but quite interesting how generations repeat themselves and how human history is more repetative than linear in nature.
WTS new definition of generation is a total nonsense as they try to hold on to the bogus belief of 1914 OR this is a step towards eliminating 1914 all together which in due time they will have to. Their present teaching of generation could very well apply to have started in 33AD. Elimate 1914 and then quote that no one knows the day nor the hour and in due time people wouldn't even question the stupid 1914 or 607 crap. Only GB and their advisors know which direction this new development is leading them to.

How did you find the strength to leave?
by SAHARA into all of you exjws, i'm sure you've been asked this question one way or the other many times and i'm sure the answer is different for many of you, i'd like to know directly from you never having a chance to hear or read many exjw's answers to this.
knowing that you would be cut off from your family and friends and other consequences for your decision to leave, how did you ever get the strength to do it?
i mean really, i find it fascinating to know that there are so many of you who were at one time very devout, if not at the very least loyal to one of the most successful mind-contol organizations ever who believed all if not most of what the society taught and still you found the courage to risk everything once you accepted that it isn't what it claims to be.

Once I was sure that wts was a fraud there was no more point of being false to myself and pretend I needed false friends. The filth that this religion is the only thing I regret is that I didn't find out the truth about them some 20 years when I began studying.
