Good for you MrFreeze, its better to know who your true friends are than live in a make belief. If family disowns you, they're not worthy of you. It might be easier for me to say that since none of my blood relatives are dubs but my wife's entire family are and so far I didn't notice being shunned but if they do they can go to hell since I don't give a f^%#! I put satan on the same level as god, it cannot be proven so sure there is a possibility of either existing but there is a possibility of there being a toothfarry on another planet too but at present I don't think about what might be out there. Believing in something that doesn't appear to be real is a waste of my time at this point in my life and I suppose some people may be in different place in live where believing in something is important and they choose to believe in whatever they believe in.

If you don't have any family that will shun you and you came to realization that wts is not the truth then just tell them to not call you again and you're not interested in BS. If you have family that may shun you and you must play the game I guess you can reply that you're going through a sickness and you can't do more at this time and you need to be left alone until you get better. You don't have to disclose what sickness you have as it's personal and none of their business.

Money and Doctrine won't but time will. Most witnesses would have to look up the whole 1914 calculations but if 1914 was dropped many more would start to question and many would leave as the end is no closer than before. Would wts fall apart? I doubt it but it would be much weaker as the end would not be oooh sooooo close anymore for many. If they drop 1914 they will have to adopt something else or take a chance and tell R&F that they aren't living for a date but for God and that 1914 was a wrong idea which created a wrong thinking that the end was near causing jws to have a false sense of urgency and that sifting was needed to see who true followers were and who were serving for a date. If they sell this idea they can keep their crap of a religion utill all religions gets outdated in time. Their growth would suffer but I doubt the leaders would care as they would still be taken care of. If BS are still around almost 100 years after Russell so will wts survive any major doctrinal changes.
Maybe if all the fence sitters just stood up on the same day at their meetings and packed their stuff and left and never to be seen again maybe more think deeper about why so many people left all at once. Maybe this would make some sort of news and more negative publicity would make it to the general public and more witnesses would be forced to hear the truth through the media or from co-workers asking questions. More negative publicity that is brought on wts because of EX members the better the chances that more witnesses will wake up. One DA here and there doesn't make a dent in a 7million memeber cult. After 1975 their membership dropped something like 1 or 2% and there was no internet so people didn't get informed of the global effect of that event, how many non believing members are there today? There must be at least 2%. It wouldn't surprise me if the number was closer to 10% of those who don't believe it or have major doubts but are afraid to say or do anything.
Time is the only cure to the religious disease plague the globe.

You could also seek professional therapy which may help you overcome your addictions. You also find ex-jw who ruin their lives, but many of these don't learn the truth about wts but deep inside feel like they've sinned against god and cannot be forgiven thus they reason they can live their lives any way they can usually with bad consequences, but these same exjws are the ones that return to wts years later because they never realized they were in a cult to begin with nor have they discovered the truth.
As for exjw believing in hellfire and all the other crap, i doubt majority do. If I were to guess most of us become agnostics or athiests. The reality is that there is no evidence of a god. One can pray to a moon or a sun with same results, but it's the faith that keeps people believing that there is someone out there that cares for them while that someone doesn't do anything to benefit them. Belief in aliens is stronger than belief in god at least one can excuse why there is something superior to mankind and yet doesn't do anything about the evident pain and suffering while the same cannot be said for the god who people claim is all loving and caring. There is also very little evidence in the biblical Jesus. There is also as much evidence for satan as there is evidence that toothfairy really exists.
So while some may need cults or others to direct their lives as they cannot do so by themselves, there are others that live happy lives without the voodoo of religous nonsense. In my entire life the most I regret is being duped as a naive youth into joint the wts cult while not being totally under their control I did well for myself and my family under their teachings and I continue to do well outside of their crap of a belief system.

Only comment on military I can give is that it's your life, and the only one you got, is joinging military worth the possibility of you going to war for some useless politician where you may loose your life?
