This kind of actions, only reinforced WT and GB teachings that WE ARE PERSECUDED, because we are the only true religion. Remember Booze Jo? He got jailed because of his agressive way towards U.S Goverment. This boosted JW's considering that it was Satan's attack.
Any form of religious persecution against mind control cults it will bring the opposite outcome. I agree that they are a cult, and many like me, ex-jw disfellowshiped ones, our rights are violated by the WT, but still I strongly disagree with this kind of actions.

Is the Governing Body Guilty or not guilty of 1975 speculations going too far?
by Terry inthe most disengenuous aspect of "official" pronouncements from the society can be identified.. it is in the positioning of the speaker/writer as a passive onlooker commenting on exterior happenings.. this bystander mode is clever by half.. why?
it spoon feeds information without taking any active personal responsibility.. sort of an "oh gee, wow--look at all this going on" stance, while taking a stand-offish tone, is printed in the official magazines and books approved for publication by the governing body as mouthpiece of jehovah.. think about that.
it is insidious incitement without responsibility.. the person (likely fred franz) who crafted these bulletins had gone through several previous incidents of failure and disappointment and was well aware of the effect of any speculations upon jehovah's witnesses in the past.. this makes what was printed all the more calculated and irresponsible in the extreme.. let us parse the language printed by the watchtower society with careful attention to what is said and left unsaid.. w68 8/15 p. 494 why are you looking forward to 1975?.

I was very young during that era in the WT, around 8. What I can recall, it was the fact that all JW's expecting that something huge would happened in 1975: Armageddon
As a kid I couldn't understand why JW's are so exited for 1975. I recall my dad and JW's talking to each other that we are indeed at the time of the end, and we will have to endure few months more until the New System comes!!!
You could feel it in the air, JW's are waiting for the End, and this is not far. The questions is who create amongst JW's this expectation? The answer is clear: THE GOVERNING BODY

Hi Robdar, long time to see you, since I do not often post like I used to do. Plus after loosing my first nickname justhuman I feel that a part of me is gone within the forum. 7 years of posts is a long time from 2001-2009.
Any how I believe that the Western Countries are responsible for what is happening to those parts of the World since I'm living in the Meditteranean basin. We have a huge problem of illegal immigrants, most of them from Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Afganistan, just to name a few. Our Goverments, they have selective memory and double standards. Why they strike in places that usually have natural resources, and they use a smoke screen "human rights"?
Imagine you are a child in Palestine. You are watching the Israel tanks wipe out your house, kill your father,brothers, sisters. You have nothing in the world and all you are thinking is to revenge those who killed your family. You grow up with the Muslims radical ideas, that if you kill an unbeliever you will go in heaven, you get bomb find a crowdy place in Israel, or somewere in the Western World, you explode and you kill as many as you can...
Our Goverments are the ones who create this chaos. Instead of helping them to develop as humans we push them into the dark ages of mankind. We are only using their sources and as long as they are Ok we are fine. Since US and their allies care so much about democracy and freedom, why don't they invate, Saudia Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, countries that have a severe issue with human rights? Why don't they invate in Turkey a country that illegaly invated Cyprus in 1974, did ethnic cleansing of 200,000 Cypriots(including Turkish and Greek)war crimes, and still holding 37% of Cyprus? Why they don't say anything about the Kurds in Turkey, 20 Millions that their rights are violeted, thousands of Kurdish village vanished from the face of the earth by the Turkish army?
Is the West that creates radical Muslims and it want stop unless our Goverments change the way of acting and thinking...

Indeed the Catholic Church along with the Orthodox(since at that time we had One United Church the East and West Rome) they will have face the new Books that archaiology is finding lately, starting with the Gnostic Gospels that they rejected at Nicaia in 330 A.D.and then completely vanished at the Biblical Canon that was set in 375 A.D by Athanasius.
Why they reject the Gospel of Mary Magdalene? The Gospel of Judas, the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Joseph? Why Early Christian Church had women as priests?

So now that "evil Binladen" has gone down the drain, the World would be a peaceful place to live, all terrorists will vanish from the face of the Earth, like dinosaurus did 65 Milliion years ago, radical Muslims will realize that their faith was based upon a myth(like all the religions) and New Era will dawn for human race.......
Sadam Husein: He was supported by US and other Western Countries, with weapons, he was praised for being their pet. After the job was done, suddenly he was evil, had weapons of mass destruction, he was going to attack to the "Free World" so we had to put him down. Then we destroyed Iraq, killed millions of innocent people, and got control over Iraq's oil...
Binladen: He was supported by US with weapons, like stinger missiles during the Soviet Invation in Afganistan. He was West's best allie. When Soviet Union ended, there was no need of Binladen, so he was the "evil terrorist" that we must put him down, since Afganistan has natural resources that we need.
The same pattern we find it for Milosevic, Mubarak, Gantafi...

You can have endeless combinations of "End's of Time Prophecy" by jumping from one scripture to another, from the Old Testament to the New!!! And imagine WT does not accept the traditional version of the Bible(79 Books) with another 10 books in the Old Testament, so I can guess how many combinations they could come up...
So since the WT is so focus with types and anti-types, first fullfilment and second, etc, etc. For them they just cannot have one prophecy and finished, like the prophecy of Daniel. They always come up with endless prophecies just to support their authority over 7,000,000 Jw's.

Interesting...Try to avoid a meeting with the Elders. It is better to fade rather to be disfellowshiped.
