But they are there....as for timing almost all the quotes were from the last 100 years. As Christianity has been around for about 2000 years that means they all occurred in the last 5% of Christianity's existence. So in the last hour and 12 minutes of the religions day so to speak. Pretty recent.
i know I need to get out more...

Mentioning a matter without a time frame eg "Armageddon is near, but we don't know when", is one thing, saying in effect "next year looks particularly appropriate for Armageddon" (not forgetting this organisation claims to be God's channel on Earth) is to my mind completely different. In fact imho they put it even more strongly than that. It seems to me scaremongering, or at best, judgement of the poorest order. Perhaps those who run this organisation were seduced by their own propaganda and really believed there was a chance this would actually happen. One only has to read some of the publications leading up to this year to see that an expectation was set, or a least encouraged.
Jehovah's Witnesses are just one more religion in a constant stream over the centuries. All convinced they have the 'The Truth', all convinced that their flavour is the one God prefers. I feel very sorry for those enslaved to such an organisation (and there are many others). It can be very difficult even to see the need to break free. I am so grateful that I am not longer a part of such a group, and frankly feel embarrassed that I ever fell for their delusional, damaging and joyless theology.

I don't know about life after death but some people seem determined not to have one before it either.

Your LEGAL RIGHTS at the Kingdom Hall
by raymond frantz inwe all know that the society treats us as door mats and we left our rights as christians behind when we got baptized ,but each congragation in britain is registered as an autononous charity ,so you and i the rank and file we contribute towards these charities .does this gives us any rights in the eyes of the law ?
i had a chat with a solicitor and he said you might have but he needs to see first the constitution .the question is : i pressume that this constitution is the same in all british congagations and drafted from the brilliant minds of the watchtower leagal department .does anyone have a copy of a constitution ?
has anyone ever looked into it ?

Thanks James + cantleave
I guess it depends what they were saying. I'd be surprised if a polite, orderly protest resulted in a prosecution in the UK. Folks generally have quite a bit of latitude here to express themselves before the criminal justice system gets involved IMHO.

Hi James - when did the UK prosecute someone for calling Scientology a cult? Do you mean the scientologists took them to court?

WIth in our denomination there are people that have raised the dead back to life again.
I think I'd need to see at least some independent evidence for that claim.
