Does God really have a personal name?
by XPeterX inthe bible says that the personal name of god is jehovah/yahweh/jah etc.thing is,we don't know it's correct pronounciation (or the pronounciation of any hebrew name).the name jehovah as we know it today means "he causes to become".someone who causes something to become is just called "creator" or "maker".right?he gave that name to his self so that people or the angels could call him by a name.also, how was he called before the creation of the anything?how can some people claim to be his friends if they don't know his actual name?discuss.

It's the JW's fault that I no longer see evidence for god......apparently.
by punkofnice inif i had a quid for the amount of times i've been told that the reason i no longer see evidence for a god is because the watchtower(tm) damaged my trust in god.....................................i'd have at least a pony!*.
could there be any truth in this?.
have you been told similar for your choices in 'spirituality'?.

Hi punk. I like churches and organ music and I love the occasional hymn. I don't associate them with a god but there seems to be something transcendent about them. One of the few positives I take from having been a JW is that it has in someways inoculated me against organised religion and inadvertently kick-started my critical thinking.

JWStruggle post: Bethel Layoffs Reveal a Kingdom without Clothes
by Londo111 inhttp://www.jwstruggle.com/2013/07/bethel-layoffs-reveal-a-kingdom-without-clothes/.
despite everything, i still have a lingering admiration toward those who serve or have served in bethel.
it is not that i believe it is gods organization in any way, shape, or form.

They work for a publishing company which no longer needs them. Like many everywhere they thought the company would look after them but it never intended to. They misunderstood their relationship or were misled. Sad, but plenty of people in the wide world experience the same thing don't they? Everyone has some skill they can use. They must have had some role at Bethel requiring some skill - cleaning, admin etc. most folks don't have a degree and find some way to survive.

Perhaps what has changed is your interpretation of the facts. As you point out regarding evolution there are many different ways to view things. Ways that imply the existence of a god and ways that don't.

Sorry to hear. It is a dreadfully painful experience. They bring so much joy. It will get easier. Eventually I came to focus on what a privilege it was to have enjoyed their companionship but it took a while.

Verdicts are about reasonable doubt. If the jury have not been satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that's an acquittal. It's a very high standard of proof. In my experience, once either party gilds the lily, or withholds information reasonable doubt can creep in. Perhaps the fault, if there is one, lies with the prosecutor. The deceased's family will be permanently changed by this and so probably will the defendant.
