Very interesting recordings. They have an answer for everything if you don't press to hard. The answers sound plausible until one takes a step back and says "wait a minue...", looks at the big picture and reads all the personal testimony on here.

Is this an Apostate website?
by apocryphal22 ini've been reading several of the comments and many of you appear to be out-of-step with the faithful and discreet slave..

I suppose it depends what one means by "apostate". In which case it is something of a rhetorical question (although given it's in the humour thread I presumed it was a joke question). I was booted out of JW a long while ago now. It took me quite a while before I would even consider reading literature which gave an alternate view of the Borg (I do like that). I wasn't brought up as a JW and becoming one caused a lot of problems for me and resulted in many years of lost contact with good friends. My own fault, but I was young and impressionable. When I left there was no internet and I wouldn't have known where to start looking for information. The WTS does an excellent job of poisoning the well when it comes to looking at literature that challenges them.
It took me a long while to put this ridiculous cult behind me, in some ways I never did and I think that's good really because I won't fall for it again. Had I realised how preposterous this cult is or the extent of the pathetic predictions and double-standards before I joined I would never have become involved. In fairness I have learned a lot from the WTS but it has been a very expensive lesson for what it amounts to.

Should Pot Be Legalized?
by minimus ini don't smoke anything but i know many that do--- some frequently, most infrequently.. personally, i don't see much difference between drinking alcohol and pot use.. should pot be legalized?.

I agree that moderation is the key. It seems to me that many things cause health problems (mental and physical) when taken to excess. I do think alcohol causes at least as many problems as pot. It would be interesting to compare the results of habitual use of alcohol, pot and tobacco use and the cost in terms of health and crime.

Reasoning with the Witnesses - for newbies.
by FreeWilly inafter reading experiences and correspondence that some have posted on this site i think it might be a good idea to share what has been somewhat effective in conversations with entrenched jw family and friends.
when i was just "waking up" my mind was so occupied with the things i learned that i paid little attention to how i presented my point of view to jw's.
i often employed the "shot-gun" approach using the research i unveiled along with a healthy dose of outrage.

That's great Wanda assuming I believe Christianity and consider freedom to comprise leaving the WTBS and adopting another form of Bible-based religion. :) although I concede it might be a good way of at least getting them to open their minds to the idea that the Org isn't what it claims to be.

Clarify- I'm going back to Meetings to save my wifes sanity! What would you do?
by Witness 007 ini recently posted that my wife has had mental/depression problems since she hurt her back at work 12 months ago....and since after years of picking on the witnesses by me, she finally lost her faith in them and became in-active....victory i thought!
slowly her stress levels began to rise...she quit work and rehab....then the sleeplessness, wierd behavior..wild agression....bizzar stuff.
we split for two months after much stress...she called me back home crying and i relent...she lost many kilo's {pounds} in weight, and isn't doing well i want to help, i was heartbroken to see this.
