it depends where mouthy is from.where I live 'cock' is simply a term of endearment used more commonly by a more senior generation. Cock as in chickens/rooster :). When I was a child, and sometimes still, I heard it a lot (I'm from Manchester UK).

Rutherford banned singing at the meetings in 1938 - Knorr reintroduced it in 1944
by slimboyfat in...which is just one of the interesting facts discussed in this essay on the history of singing in the jw religion.

It's the first positive thing I've seen that Rutherford did. The Kingdom Melodies would embarrass a cat in labour. IMHO.

Richard Dawkins Fail...

Dawkins is as prone to error and failure as much as any other human. Although I don't always agree with his conclusions, I don't see that an error in his thinking in one area of life automatically devalues his opinion in others. It's human nature to follow individuals to some extent as much as their arguments, however the two are not necessarily connected as far as I can see.
It's a common tactic to use one aspect of a person's behaviour to attack their arguments. Where there is some hypocrisy this may be reasonable but in the case of Dawkins I don't think that makes sense. I don't see Dawkins setting himself up as any kind of moral authority.

by BroMac inshould a female publisher wear a headcovering if she is accompanied by a male publisher at a door step bible study?
when a female publisher conducts a regular ,scheduled bible study and a male kingdom publisher is present, she should wear a head covering.(1cor.
11:3-10)the july 15, 2002 issue of the watchtower, page 27, explains: this is a pre arranged session of teaching where the one conducting the study actually presides.

Perhaps they should just release an app that answers questions like this :)
They could call it the Kingdom Rules App - or Krapp for short. Publishers can keep their Krapp in the ministry bag or even use Krapp to answer at meetings.

Can the Demons infect a computer?
by Comatose inno self respecting jw would doubt the demons ability to attach themselves to physical objects.
for example if a jw put a poster on their wall of a pentagram or some other "satanic symbol" that's a "doorway" for the demunz.
it's inviting them into your home.

WHy Have You Turned YOur Back On The Messiah
by cassuk11 inok so you got out of the watchtower society after discerning it was false.
what is amazing is how many have turned their back on the king or was it they had no faith in the first place and the spiritual food they received did not help them stand upon a rock.
jesus the christ your saviour is a living breathing being with emotions.

One of the problems with 'just knowing' something is that although it may be true, that 'knowledge' is not transferable to anyone else, or at least shouldn't be. If I need to suggest that the reason you don't know the same thing that has been revealed to me is that you're in some way deficient, I'd think I ought to be asking myself some serious questions.
The pure arrogance of the original post sets my teeth on edge.

@adamah - I suspect many cling to a religion that, according to its 'holy book' doesn't want them, because of societial or familial programming. Just like a person brought up in the Middle East is 'programmed' by Islam or a person in India might be 'programmed' by Hinduism as they grow up. There is perhaps a built-in predisposition to attach oneself to the religion that one's society/family is steeped in - often unquestioningly until adulthood or some other event intervenes and precipitates deeper thought.
At that point there is then a choice - do I abandon my religion or find some way to make it fit? Because of the attachments created from childhood, it can be very difficult to simply walk away and start afresh. In fact such a turnaround can be disastrous in terms of family or other relationships. I understand why people try to make Christianity (or any other religion) fit, but never found it convincing personally.
