  2010 DC" Remain in Gods Love"...Most Unloving Yet??

  the talk outlines for the summers conventions are only being printed over the next 2 weeks or so.. the finished outlines were ready in the middle of december 2009, however sources that i trust tell me that at least 5 of the talks were returned for last minute rewriting which is highly unusual.

  this has held up the printing until now, a delay of over a month.

  this is a fact!!.

  I know someone else mentioned it on another thread, but I truly think that we might see some kind of software program written by the Bethel computer dept. that controls internet use. Of course, it wouldn't be "required" that you obtain it, but there might be lots of meeting parts and articles about how refreshing such spiritual food is at the proper time, etc., and personal experiences about how it's safeguarded the spirituality, etc.

  I also think there'll be a cracking down on associating with "weaker" aka inactive ones (like me).

  And watch for more negativity on recreation/hobbies/extra activities as "time wasters" and more suggestions on how to combine recreation with spiritual activities. Oh, and more bad on college. Not sure if they can outright ban it, but watch for it to renewed demonization to the point where it might as well be banned.

  Just my two cents, er, two shells.

  record of committee meeting #1. after prayer, proverbs 28:13 was read: "he who is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he who is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy.

  " the need to confess to jehovah was emphasized.

  as jehovah's representatives, the elders said we therefore needed to confess to them.

  i've been away so i don't know if this report has been posted on jwn recently.

  however, i just want to mention that i recently heard from a credible source (circuit overseer) that the main increase of jws in the united states is among the spanish.

  this fits with what this report suggests about the increase in us church membership is mostly due to an influx of immigrants.

  I can add confirmation to willyloman. I'm in Washington State and in the last 5 years or so, the Spanish congs. have exploded and are continuing. We went from having a single Spanish group in the whole area 5 or 6 years ago to now, every KH has at least 1 HUGE cong. sharing it with the Anglos. Their big problem is lack of bros who are in the country legally.

  some of the science quotes of "celebrated jw scholars" need lengthy explanations, while others practically shimmer in the air by themselves.

  this week's installment in the science quotes of jehovah's witnesses is from the september 15, 1961 issue of the watchtower.

  it was from a time when jw writers were almost frantic in their desire to demonize blood transfusion.

  TD, thanks again for your ongoing exposure of theocratic pseudo-science. This latest one is a great example of how JW epistemology is a matter of putting the cart before the horse. Rather than let naturalistic or scientific evidence "lead," theological interpretation "leads," and "evidence" is cherry-picked post priori to fit the pre-determined conclusion.

  Of course, the Society could simply say that refusing blood transfusion is a matter of faith and leave it at that, which shifts the grounds for debate to purely theological, but noooo! They trot out "scientific" evidence to prop up their credibility.

  Ironically, the congs with the most increase here in the US are the Spanish, yet they have the worst problem when it comes to lack of elders and MS's. Why? So many Mexican bros. are illegal. I learned from a relative a week or 2 ago (an elder in a Spanish cong) that they just got a letter from the branch saying its okay for bros here illegally to now carry the microphone.

  i am sure that we individually are responsible for decisions and actions we take.

  we reap what we sow, and ultimately must face the personal responsibility.

  however, other factors do contribute.. i am a 5th generation jw, and my wife is a 4th generation jw.

  Xelder, thank you for sharing that. You see, I, too, am an elder's wife. As I type this, he is out in FS, bless his well-meaning heart. I've woken up, he hasn't. Or, at least, he's in denial. He knows certain things are simply untrue, yet, as you describe, so much of his self-image and self-esteem are bound up in the position and, honestly, in the warm fuzzies he gets from being "self-sacrificing." (I make it sound like he's insincere and he's not). He's a great guy and our marriage is strong, so I'm not complaining. He doesn't bug me about my decision to become inactive. And, in return, I go to Sunday meetings with him so we're not completely divided.

  It's interesting that your wife started noticing problems with the "truth" before you. What got her thinking and how did she share it with you?

  Watchtower's Official Policy Concerning College

  is it official watchtower policy that an elder cannot remain an elder if he allows his children to go to college?.

  also, is it official policy that a person cannot have "privileges" or even pioneer if they are attending college?.

  if it is, can someone post scans of the official boe letters stating the watchtower policy concerning college?.

  These are not the policies. I have a close relation who is an elder and his daughter recently graduated with a B.A. from a 4 year school. I wonder if you are thinking about a letter to the BOE a while back that warned elders against actively/verbally "encouraging" college(?) in the face of the Society's rhetoric against it? I think the rationale (weak, admittedly) is that quietly letting your child go is one thing (your own business) but actively promoting it is another...

  Sort of "don't ask, don't tell."
