I wonder if this is to comply with local laws in some way, since Malaysia is heavily Muslim.

Great experience. As I was waking up, I reflected on how even "imperfect men" can use computer modelling to project the outcome of certain events or situations and thus avoid using human subjects in real-life experiments. In fact, computer modelling has grown incredibly powerful and accurate in recent years. So even in God chose NOT to foresee Satan's disobedience, he could still--afterward--run his own version of computer modelling to demonstrate to all of the angels what would happen if Satan were allowed to continue and if Adam and Eve were allowed to continue. There is no reason why it would have to play out over thousands of years and countless millions of lives suffering.

Preparing the sheeple for finally abandoning the significance of 1914
by under the radar inwe all know the society would love to get rid of all the problems caused by clinging to 1914 and all they claimed it meant for the last 100+ years.. it looks like they are laying the groundwork for easing away from the whole concept of 1914. this would also let them do away with the ridiculous "overlapping generation" bullcrap.
what a diaper load that has been.... anyway, the following is from their super secret marching orders for april, 2019. draw your own conclusions.... "3.
“100 years of faithfulness”: the coordinator of the body of elders, or another elder, should be invited to read the following special announcement.

April fool's for sure. But the fact that it fits in with their overall approach is telling.

I really identified with all of her feelings. Finally, a truthful account (as opposed to the whitewashing on JW.org) of what it is like to be a single female in this organization, and how desperate and lonely and completely human such women are. The JW website has a short video about a single sister tempted to start dating a worldly guy and it shows her doing all of those "right" things--the praying and Bible-reading and staying busy "in the ministry," and she's smiling happily through it all because if you do the right things, it works! HA, NO!
This woman was doing all the right things (and I believe her account--I have no reason not to, esp. since I was once a single JW woman of a certain age, which in the organization simply means over 18, and I had the exact same feelings) and yet she still was "tottering." Remember the Psalm where it promises that the righteous one will not totter because God will support then? So much for that paper promise. I'm glad she's found a great guy.
What I can't figure out is why this seemingly intelligent woman wouldn't just walk away from this organization. Of course, I know why--she's got all her friends and family still in and that's her whole social network, as she admits.
Thank you for sharing this!

7 Jehovah’s Witnesses Brutally Tortured in Russia
by Drearyweather inhttps://jw-russia.org/en/news/19021923-622.html.
at least seven of jehovah’s witnesses were subjected to torture—electric shocks, suffocation, and cruel beatings—on the first floor of the russian investigative committee’s building at ul.
ostrovskogo, d. 47, in surgut.

But seriously folks... these people (the Russian JWs) are solely responsible for the treatment they are getting.
Are you f*cking kidding? No one EVER deserves this kind of treatment. This is horrifying. I am no JW apologist, but no human should EVER be treated like this, regardless of whatever they have done. This is a grotesque violation of fundamental human rights.

Attendance Figures
by snare&racket ini was a jw in the 80’s-2000’s and probably saw the peak of uk attendance.. anecdotally, many here appear to have a view that attendance has reduced significantly.
our kh would have around 90-110 for a meeting, at worst maybe 75 and the highest was 144 (for memorial lol).. small circuit assembly had about 1000 people and district had about 8-12000. .
i know kh’s and circuits/districts have variance, however in the uk i attended many of these various gatherings and the numbers above tended to be reasonably average.

One factor to keep in mind is the consolidation of congregations which, it seems, is going on all over the place. So a cong. might appear to have many more attendees but that may only be because it has swallowed two other congs.

Did anyone put off having children because of wt bs?
by I Faded Twice injust curious if anyone put off having kids because the end was so close.
or because of you're "ministry" or lack of suitable mates..
-
Cadellin
Even though the publications did not condemn having kids, the unspoken (well, sometimes it WAS spoken) understanding was that if you were spiritually mature/strong as a couple, you would put the kingdom first and that meant holding off having kids until the new order. Several of my peers with whom I grew up refrained from having kids (I can think of four, off the top of my head) so they could "do more" in the ministry. They are all in their early to mid 50's now. I remember, too, sometime in the mid or late 80's, a talk at the district convention entitled "Responsible Childbearing in the Time of the End," that all but came out and said you are irresponsible to have kids now, given how "close" we were to the end. It was pretty adamant.
