Why I admire the more risky O.P starters.

starting an o.p is a challenge.the person who starts the o.p then relies on fellow posters to obtain feedback and hopefully keep the o.p, informative and positive.

so starting an o.p becomes " shared accountabilility" between o.p starter, and thread poster.. some o.p's will be more of a risk factor than others, because some topics are more controversial.

so when i start an o.p i now ask myself what is:-.

Bro Knorrs Notes RE Disfellowshipping & Two Witness Rule

hi guys.

a fellow ex jw shared this with me.

haven't time to read them yet (i'm using my phone to go on internet).

I can't recall them announcing publicly the reason for disfellowshipping a person ,but early on I heard of cases of this happening locally . But what I personally witnessed was ,at the service meeting, an announcement given and name given ,and immediately after ,by another brother ,a special needs talk given on whatever the person was d/f'd for ,it was common practice till the late eightees.

Thanks Blondie for your comment ,that makes it a bit clearer, I acknowlege it would be hard to chase someone down who travels so much and talk to them but is'nt the sisters mother a witness? If they wanted the sisters to stop talking as if they were witnesses surely they would go thru the mother?

Seems to me they are riding a wave of passive advertising for free ........hypocrites

There was a time I remember that un baptised publishers were working under the same rules as baptised ones ,and they would be asked to stop publishing (or speaking to people on behalf of the org) if they did something wrong that disqualified them .

So if Serena is in the above category surely she should be treated with the same counsel as others? But maybe not . I am not questioning her life and morals but rather the hypocrisy of the WTS.

Yes I think it matters ,as one who has had a long history with the WT I remember the pushing from the org to keep high standards and the judgement that they would bring on the average publisher if they erred in small ways ,yet they prove themselves to be inconsistant as regards the wealthy and famous ,it's another way to show they are not the true religion that they say they are.

Remember the old articles about famous people in the Awakes and how they changed their life to suit what the WTS says, and yet here we have these people associated who are living the lives we the rank and file could'nt get away with ,and the WTS lets them do it.

This forum is a great tool to show browsers what the WTS really is ,so I think it does matter to point these things out.

Sorry, I see there is already a topic for this ,but I'm sure the great whore ,the WTS is already following the money ,if prince can get a JW funeral she can get a KH wedding ....surely she earns enough for the GB to give it the nod

"Casting Lots", How Was It Considered Acceptable?

the jws strongly condemn any form of gambling or decision making that invokes luck or divination.

however, no where in the bible is the "casting of lots" which basically amounted to gambling specifically condemned.

also, many jws don't realize that jewish priests (levites) were instructed to make decisions using the urim and thummin which many scholars argue was a divination practice similar to casting lots..

JW's do not talk about this too much do they? Interesting to question the practice ,they would say jehovah guided them that way .

My question is why would'nt this practice have been used back in the day to find gods thoughts on whether little Rebecca was molested by her uncle when she was 5 and came forward about it when she was 6 , since only the angels and god witnessed it?

Oh - the bible remains silent GB does'nt it ?so when did lots stop and why did'nt Jesus ,who cared so much for the little ones, keep the lots and casting two stones for decision making going ?

Probably a few reasons but I think after 9/11 they got shit scared and realised how vulnerable they could be ,so slip out to more obscurity. Maybe some of the GB at that time realised they did'nt want such a public prescence in the aftermath ,and also realised their god was'nt going to stop unforseen circumstances hitting them one day - a lack of faith crept in and realising they are just like anyone else with their arses pointing to the ground.
