The WTS has always used the courts ,when I became a JW i remember a brochure called "Legally establishing the good news", they had to in their view, because they set them selves apart from other churches by their different views and teaching and critisizing them and the governments of the world.

They now attack little people that criticize them and ,I think, they know how effective cartoons etc are at influencing people because they use the same methods. Look back at their history in the literature of their mocking religious leaders of the past thru cartoons and they still manipulate peoples emotions with the cartoons they make of putting kids money in a contribution box.

The problem is for individuals now that point out WTS faults is they are monied up now and are using lawyers to bully any critics. They are now wealthy from real estate sales and have been a worldly building company for a long time..

If I read about Jesus in the bible ,well, they are just so far removed from the examples of behaviour that Jesus showed ,for example the turning of cheek , the way he handled the religious leaders criticism, to love your enemy etc. The WTS leaders and their associates have nothing in common with Jesus of the bible.

Remember that quote from the bible where it says "why not let yourself be wronged"

I do have trouble believing the flood story as the bible presents it as a worldwide event at once. The scientific finds don't seem to back it up to a lay person ,it is similar to the evidence for the exodus with moses , where is the evidence.

Clams being shut and fish swallowing fish ,to me , only show that they died quickly due to a local event that may not have been a world wide flood. The fact that some creatures have not changed much in what scientists say are tens of millions of years just says to me that the environment for them has not changed enough for them to adapt.

As to the length of creative days ,well if you are going to believe stories in the bible ,then it would of course be possible for god to do this in such a short time because it written like fables and stories of gods like the greeks believed in. That's why when I left the JWs I broadened my outlook of religion and studied up on how religions formed etc

It seems incredible now that I bought into this belief of religion and how ignorant I was to believe what the Watchtower told me ,and other beliefs well ,are so varied ,it simply shows how man made religion is ,it seems to me it was evolved as a response to living in this world and coping and driven by power hungry people and ignorance.

As has been noted here the WTS could probably say satan put the fossil record this way to decieve future generations, they are not alone and all we have is written down ,by men ,words that say such and such in all of the denominations of christianity ,24 hour periods or 7000 year periods or millions of year periods which is it?

It seems to me only science is moving forward to find a truth about the past and actually prove something by evidence that harmonises not written words that have formed by corrupted men's thinking and greed .

the problem is where do we go from here?

lloyd is not going to go away , he has too much to loose(money) neither will his followers go as we have seen the last few days there was hardly a drop to his membership .so what's next?

we will be branded in the same colours and because of him we won't be taken seriously anymore.

Well I think Evans will take the lead from the Watchtower and other organizations that go bad , he will REBRAND as if what happened before does'nt matter anymore, that was someone else who did that.

The only people I've heard of going to Thailand on their own or with friends are the type you hear bragging and joking of their exploits at building site lunch rooms ,you know, getting head under the table as an appertiser with their beer. And later, the main course with those kids drunk and drooling .

If it is true about this bloke he sure fits the physical image with his look and tone of his voice.

Jesus must love this guy, Maybe he is the "saviour" in some peoples minds ,by the way has anybody heard of Jesus lately ,last time I think is a couple of millenia ago? I guess this "savior" will be dust too one day.

Ah the 1988 Divine Justice convention ,my memory is it was November too but I lived in Adelaide and had to travel to Melbourne Victoria for this with my wife and children where I was assigned to work in the "Security "department.

Perhaps Lang Park was on at the same time but don't recall. But what I do recall in Melbourne is it was pretty hot and alot of us were sitting on our own chairs on the sports oval as there were so many people there.

Some clown in the security department from Adelaide had a bright red station wagon prickled with antennae and cb radios with a large sign on it saying "SECURITY" and full of self importance!

And up till then I thought Jehovahs org was so smoothly operated till I sat in our car in the heat for 2 hours or so trying to get out of the carpark at the end of the convention days, what a disaster it all was.

It was one of those magic moments that helped me leave the delusion of the JWs behind years later.

has anyone ever read the new testament- critically- and not theologically?

by theologically i mean not reading the bible with the intention of understanding the nature of god and religious truth.

but instead, reading the bible by analyzing only the facts of what is written, in an unbiased frame of mind to pull out what is actually happening in the written stories.. first of all, if you were to read the nt in chronological order, paul’s 7 authentic letters would come before the gospels of matthew, mark, luke, and john.

Good read Pete ,I think it is hard to read the new testament and study it to make sense of it because people have pre- concieved root beliefs which could account for different understandings of what is read.

Yet what if an extremely powerful computer of AI ability (as far as science is capable of today) were to analyze the NT with as few as possible programmed predjudices and define the text and explain the meaning and if there are any real truths to the text. Now that would be interesting to see ,an explanation of the text without human predjudice and corrupt interpretation.

Some christians might say what the computer came up with is wrong because it has no soul or human mind to fathom gods things. But that is the thing is'nt it? No human is perfect so the very writings themselves are corrupted by who put them down and who deals with the copies afterwards, and in the future who corrupts the original thoughts by believing in the text the way they want to like Paul.

A computer readout of it's analysis and explanation of the texts failures would be illuminating. Why do I say "the texts failures" ? Well with 40 odd thousand christian beliefs all catering to human belief systems self serving their own narcisisstic ways, the core of the problem may well be the HUMAN condition that created the text.

Governing Body Update #9...Jehovah is guiding his people during the pandemic

david splane starts off with, ''i thought we might reflect on jehovah's goodness and the way he's been guiding his people during the pandemic.''.

not once in his talk does he mention that jehovah would give all members a super immune system that would fight off the virus.

neither does he mention that jehovah would reduce positive covid-19 numbers, hospital admissions and covid-19 deaths of his people.. mr. splane: how does the almighty, all knowing jehovah guide his people during the pandemic?.

Good question when considering the above ,the GB is saying nothing more than what doctors and politicians are advising people to protect themselves!

So How is it that there is a higher than the general populace infection and death rate among JW's

Could it be that Jah's people are a rebellious lot who don't listen to practical advice from the world ,nor even their own GB who are now parroting the words of the world?

Maybe because Jw's have ingrained in them that they are something special ,well that's what the GB have told them for so long , but really the only ones of them that have stayed safe from a pandemic is the priveleged who lock themselves in a compound and don't have to go into the world and earn a living and pay for that protective compound of the GB and it's associates.

There has been no special information from the GB that actually has been followed by their drones to protect them in a pandemic. So therefore where is the protection promised by the bible? Even stopping the Jw's from meeting and visiting peoples homes with their message has still lead them to be infected and die more than the general populace. So once again the GB says something and yet the sheep are at fault ,the rebellious lot would have been better to not go out into the world and provide for their families and a safe compound for those GB members.
