  Back in the early 1980's in my congregation was a brother reaching out for the "priveledge" of ministerial servant . He was in his 30's had a family and was popular with the congregation.

  Trouble was he had a tightly trimmed beard. We would work on the field often and on one occasion we talked about this issue of facial hair and he was told by the body of elders he would have to lose the beard if he wanted to be a n MS. He agonized over this and did'nt want to shave it and even said to me that he had a skin condition that shaving irritated but still the elders said he had to shave . Well he did shave and shortly after was made an MS and his skin did visibly show problems but he must have found a way to treat his affliction for he became an elder and is still a JW to this day.

  This is only one instance I have seen of many ,so anyone who tells you the WTS does not enforce this is deluded or lying .

  How Will They End 1914 Teaching?

  i'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.

  instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .

  they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

  I'd like to know how the people living back then would have viewed words like "desolation" of the land ,what it meant to them in real terms. Did it mean total destruction and nobody living there or something like damaged by warring armies and no structure left to organize daily life like there used to be .

  This is where I wonder if we today can say for certain that the scriptures are totally literal and accurate or not .

  Perhaps "Scholar" won't answer my questions because I am beneath him,an apostate if you will ,uneducated it's true but schooled for many years by the WTS which they told me, gave me a better education than university.

  The reason I think Judah was involved is because in verse 18 Jeremiah mentions Judah when he is to deliver the "cup" message

  Scholar going on your last comment on Exile does that mean you believe the Jews and all surrounding nations were also taken into Babylonish exile ,all the people???

  I read those verses and Jerusalem ,Judah and the nations are going to serve Neb .

  Nowhere does it say be exiled ,they could be in servitude wherever they live in their own territory.

  Seems to me you are reading more into it because your mind has been trained to.

  "this vision aims to return humans to the moon, and then to use it as a staging point for a manned mission to mars.

  i wonder if jws will be required to canvas those areas too.

  Wow a spaceship is circling the moon . Hang on did'nt that happen in 1969 ?

  What would Jesus be doing?

  would he be working on the massive audio/visual complex being built at ramapo?.

  i overheard my wife listening to some update broadcast this morning and immediately thought would a true humanitarian such as jesus, mahatma gandhi or albert schweitzer be at all interested in such things?

  these were 'people' persons not interesting in the stupid trappings of life.. if the gb were to sanction the building of hospitals, orphanages, refugee centers and the like, maybe we would have a little more respect for them but this ramapo project seems like a sense waste of time, energy and money.

  I wonder if Jesus was involved years ago when the governing body sanctioned VHS tapes to be made for their teaching work .The problem with some of the copies was they were recycled VHS tapes with PORN still on them !

  Remember that ,or maybe Jesus was at the privvy when that occurred.
