Thanks Splash I think the original is better
and LUHE I was one of them as a kid out from England ,we had to live in Nissen huts till dad could save for a deposit on a house in the 50"s ,some British hated Oz when they got here ,some were homesick and went back and that is where the whinging pom thing came into it I think. I grew up with kids from around the world, that was post war times, it was tough , one friend of mine then at primary school took me back to his home to meet his family - Russian - they lived in a Chevrolet car crate and drank water out of a rusty barrel that ran off the iron sheets on top of the crate. I remember thinking how lucky we were to have a house by then with inside toilet and shower.
Tough times for alot who were displaced as refugees of war and migrants who only paid 10 pounds to come here. Both my parents struggled but said they would never go back to England and were thankful they were accepted into Australia ,they had lived thru the great depression and WW11 and were glad of the new start.
My father in law came to Oz in 1948 as a single refugee ,was put to work on the wharves and was thankful all his life for being accepted in Oz -he spent 4 Years in a Nazi concentration camp -he was very glad to learn a new language and be accepted by the Oz people. And they still get accepted here.

I'm in Australia and don't have contact with JWs anymore, but I would like to know this as well.
I suspect that many would not know much about this as they would be scared to find out.

Is it then, that people live in such a dangerous environment in America (or anywhere else with so many guns available) that they feel the need to protect themselves with weapons ?
There are unstable people here too, but I'm glad we restrict who gets guns in my country to limit these type of events. Just trying to understand what goes on over there and the thinking ,

As far as the availability and "Rights" of Americans to carry guns goes, I wonder if there is an equal balance with regards to law, to carry and own things like these :
1: short iron bar to carry around
2: Knives of a size that could be used as a weapon to defend oneself
3: Stun gun or similar device
4: bow and arrow or similar
5: anything else for that matter that could be used as a weapon to kill or maim at a distance
And why would'nt the laws be the same as guns possession.?
I'll bet there are distinctions made thru law about these effective weapons of destruction and yet guns are an American "right" and some Americans seem to feel a need to justify their "right" of possession by pointing to things like "more people are killed on the road " etc
Sure is puzzling to us who live in countries that have different laws to protect citizens and very few guns around in comparison. Sure criminals will still be around and use guns illegally but that is what laws and police are for is'nt it?
Just saw this report on the news and they said a horrendous amount of Americans die from guns every year ,surely that would decrease if the government there had the guts like ours did to Amnesty guns and therefore reduce the amount of them in the public AND THEN START TO WORK on the minds and attitude of the people to make it a privilege instead of a right to possess a firearm.
It all seems a bit like being in a American cult and believing no matter how morally wrong it is ,that's my right......er cognitive dissonance shades perhaps?

what happens when one informs elders that one's baptism was invalid?
by quincemyles inis it possible to move from baptized publisher to unbaptized status perpetually?
what do elders do when you inform them that your baptism was invalid?

wozza
My ex did this years ago based on being baptised as a teenager she said her family pressured her into it and the elders let her get baptised at a later time. -

Unfortunately the Jw teachings seem to breed people who develop a cynical view of "the worldly System" and feel no pangs of guilt at decieving themselves and the authorities.
