Converted Greek Philosopher Explains Christianity in 125 AD
by Sea Breeze ini ran across a pretty early treatise.
we were all taught that "real" christianity was lost to history and was only restored once russell and then rutherford restored it so that the wt could be appointed as god's "mouthpiece".
but, aristides wrote to the emperor hadrian and gave a pretty good synopsis of core christian belief in 125 ad.

Thank you Terry for putting all the text up ,what a great read in context .I found it an amazing writing as an appeal in reasonableness, though I don't think this would be enough to show that God is a trinity.
Seabreeze I think I know why modern churches don't publicize this stuff , that since the 4th century in particular christianity has corrupted itself by men seeking power and making themselves and others gods just the way that was described by the nations described by the above from Terry.
Think about the purity of which Aristides spoke of within the primitive christians and then compare to what we see in the world today in religion and how corrupt it has become after all this time ,and yet there is no god ordained people like back then that can be seen shining as a beacon to the world like back then living like they did according to Aristides.
It's been a long time since then ,and religion like the corrupt WTS promised they were this beacon but they are not, the religions of the world are just the same and still no god has revealed himself like the idols that Aristides talks about.
Christianity has just become a branded product where there is huge confusion where even the essence of the divine nature of god cannot be agreed upon ,some thing as basic as that.

How about this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q91hydQRGyM J-Lo
Or this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipOz_k9zvzo Tina Turner
The second one has funny memories for me ,the JW's would always leap up onto their feet and line dance to this one.
Why is this funny? Before I was a JW in 1975 the night before I was getting married I was taken on a bucks night to a strip joint and this song was featured in some of the strip routines. Years later I find myself watching my brothers and sisters dancing exotically ,especially the sisters, to the same song!

God vs ET`s ,why is one more probable than the other ?
by smiddy3 inbillions of people around the world beleive in a god of some sort or other who exerts some power or influence to some degree or other in lifes affairs .. i don`t think there would be anywhere near that figure that would entertain the possability of extra terrestial life elsewhere in the universe.. and i find that curious .. the ancients didn`t know that their were other humans on other continents on this planet until they ventured out and found them .. we live somewhere in the milky way galaxy with millions of suns and planets that orbit them.. our galaxy is only one of trillions if not zillions of galaxys in the known universe.. look at the diversity of life on just this one planet earth ,what possabilitys could exist elsewhere ?
on alien worastronomers can use the hubble space telescope to view galaxies near the edge of the observable universe (the region of space from which light has had a chance to reach us within the last 13.77 billion years).
by examining a very tiny portion of the sky, counting up the number of visible galaxies in the universe in that specific region, and then multiplying that number to account for all the regions of the sky, astronomers estimate the number of galaxies in the universe.

Hi Rocketman , I agree that objects and glitchy radars could explain some sightings. I can remember the phenomenom of ball lightning being mistaken for UFO's and our atmosphere does peculiar things with light like the Northern lights.
I am not suggesting every weird thing seen is an inhabited craft as science has shown us some explanations .
But when you get a schoolyard of children and teachers looking at a craft hovering on the school grounds this is something different. Even after all these decades they interviewed some of the children who held to the same story as the teacher to what they witnessed.Interestingly they drew pictures of the what seemed to be a triangular craft with lights similar to what has been seen in other sightings around the world. It's certainly different from my sighting of UFO's and certainly more credible than my story.
But it all comes back to personal perception in the end, If one has never seen a phenomena it would be hard to believe but it is a huge universe and I find it hard to see we are the only planet with life ,and why is it so hard to see that it may be possible for other creatures to be investigating space when we are doing it and dumping our shit in space and on planets now ?

From the WTS perspective, when we were in it, it was put to us in carefully worded statements that the earth was where the question of Universal Sovereignty was raised in the garden of eden.
So we were to ,decades ago, believe that only here on earth physical life like us exists and only god and angels exist apart from us. Over the decades ,like alot of things taught by the WTS, it has been watered down by not commenting much about this.
Over the weekend I watched an Australian produced TV show on UFO"s which focused heavily on The USA's relaxing of info of government secret files and videos from their military.
Yes the pictures were grainy ,witnesses were interviewed with first and second hand info so it was hard still to see a non believer of UFO's being convinced.
From our media here we seem to always be shown American-centric evidence ,which makes me wonder whether there is perhaps an even world distribution of sightings.
Coming back to Smiddy 3 topic I get the impression that there is more people who have witnessed a UFO experience than there is of anyone actually seeing god,and yet so many believe in something they have never seen!
One thing from the program that struck me was an Australian experience from a school sighting of a very close proximity UFO back in the 60's. It happened at the morning recess break when the kids rushed outside to witness the UFO event and one of the teachers also went outside to see it ,and he is still around and was interviewed about this. Government representatives at the time shut him down by saying that he was drunk on the job and would lose his job. Of course he was'nt but in those days that's how they forcibly shut people up.
When I was a teenager back then I went fishing one night with some boys I had grown up with ,it was a clear night in Adelaide and we saw UFO's travelling the sky in a formation and also breaking of at high speed ,and dead stopping then changing direction impossibly .They were high up and we could not make out the shape but it made us feel scared at what we witnessed and we had difficulty talking to each other about it after this.
Years later when I owned my own home one of my neighbors was a flight traffic controller. My wife and i were over their house for dinner. I asked him about UFO.s and gave him my story, he was very hesitant and eventually opened up and told me of his sightings on the radars and the incredible speeds they travel at and the inexplicable stopping in mid flight suddenly and shooting off again. He was a government employee and said they had firm rules that they should not share with the public, but he did with me.
It's a funny world where the world is encouraged to believe in something that has'nt been seen .and yet many have seen UFO's but have to shut up about it!

vienne I agree we can not be gullible but we can't see the actual people on here ,so we don't know if they are lying.
I have been on the end of criticism here and probably doubt for my expierences given ,but to me they were real.
Maybe some come here with wrong motive and lies but time will surely catch them out or they just lose interest in shit stirring. Some of the worst people I've known come from the WTS so it would be no surprise to see a few idiots come on here ,but to call out someone whose life has been damaged by others so quickly without getting to see if they are for real is a mistake I think.

Vienne please consider this ,I spent 20 plus years as a JW ,ministerial servant ,pioneered and brought many into the org and yet I still referred to the memorial as the Passover at times simply because the way they used to teach back in the past ,our minds were trained to look at the bible as one book and that from the beginning to the end it gave foregleams and stories which pointed to future events .
Like the story of the hebrews in Goshen ,the blood on the doorways to protect the people was a foregleam of Christ pouring out his blood to save the people . These events , and others were presented as a long series of one long story of how the world could find salvation before Armaggeddon.
So I can see how someone who has been isolated from the WTS for a while could either get the terminology mixed up or as above had a view like I had of linking the WT view together to understand the bible stories and the way the WT taught things. It is a bit like viewing The Law of the Jews as an example for the future ,after Christ changed things by fulfilling the Law but after his death up till today the witnesses still live under some kind of WTS laws but they do not refer to them as THE LAW.
As to whether the OP is genuine how about giving that person a little time to show themself ,they have not been here long have they?

Can Anything Good come out of America? ( Religious Wise )

America was a country ripe for religion to take root and I think the world understands that Americans are very good at money and salesmanship. Well what a great place for religion to grow and fester in relative freedom unlike Europe and Britain where the Protestants and Catholics held power in government ,and hence over the people.
The new world of America promised breathing space to create ones own flavor.
And they did and realised there was money to be made and even as an export product ,and as a lot of people know like me they can SELL ,with the gift of the gab.
I was raised a Mormon and our house was frequented by missionary boys and they would drive me crazy with their never ending stories and brags. Over the years they would write to my mother about their lives after their 2 year mission and how they were helped thru the church into careers and how well off they were, still bragging.
By the time my mother was thrown out when I was 12, I told myself to ask how they are going over the years ,only one claimed to be straight and faithfully married, the rest were gay or bi living a lie with their wives. This made me question christian religion a bit and especially as they at the time ,saw African Americans as inferior and could not hold the priesthood etc !
And yet when I was older I married a woman with links to the JW's and eventually succumbed myself ,so I have had enough of American religion,
But to judge a nation of people on that basis would be wrong ,for they did give us the internet and that is what gave me the tools to get the hell out of the JW's that I joined unable to find info that refuted them due to it being years before the internet. It was me after all that made the decision to join.
