heathen, Rabbit, please check in when you can.
hemp, hope your daughter is okay...it's pretty bad out there to not take it seriously!
just noticed three tornado warnings that included dallas, arlington, and fort worth.
nws text for these warnings stated that there were two "large and extremely dangerous tornadoes" confirmed on the ground in the area.
james_woods or terry, what's the scoop?.

It skirted around us... we were definitely in the warning area (first thing we did was check the time and day so we knew it wasn't just the normal weekly alarm test). We got lots of heavy rain and hail here, but no tornados.
Right now there's a tornado on the ground in Addison.
James_Woods, Terry, ohiocowboy, and JimTX, I hope you guys check in. Rabbit, hope you and yours are safe!!
i just had a message from my friend.. told me to tell you all.
he loves ya!!!!!
oh you dont know my friend??
Thanks for the well wishes, Gran . Even though I'm not a believer myself, I recognize the spirit in which the message was conveyed. Love ya too!!
I'm proud to say that this will be the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW that I am not attending. I'm done and I've been done for a long time!
the answer is yes in my case.
for some of you wonderful people on here will remember i asked a few questions and was concerned about my wife becoming a jehovahs witness,...well, she is baptised now and fully fleged (committed).. i have been called possessed by satan , mentally ill, a schitzophrenic and was beaten emotionally and mentally.
eventually i had to leave our house after 2 years of this situation getting worse.
Ugh...I'm so sorry this happened to you. I was a JW and my ex was as well...I decided to leave...he decided he couldn't deal with that and I lost my home and my children. So I feel for you, I truly do.
Your wife is under complete and utter emotional and mental control. She's in the very beginning stages of being a JW where EVERYTHING that is not JW-related is SATAN, period. In her eyes, Satan is using you to break her integrity to god, but in reality your sound reasoning is making her question her belief in her religion...and she just can't have that. In her mind, god and the JW's are one and the same. God works through the JW's. So to leave them is to leave god. This is the point in time when most new converts lose their family and friends because they've alienated them with their fanatical ways. I don't blame you for being angry with everything. You've basically lost the wife you knew and she's become a bible-beating cult member.
We're all here to chat if you need to...
Stuff like this annoys me. They use all these terms to describe "worldlings" and yet, they themselves are guilty of the same exact thing. How many know the history behind their own religion? They can tell you the history of holidays and birthdays why they are oh so bad, but they can't tell you a damn thing about how the JW's started, who Russell was, who Rutherford was (found this out when I tried talking to my mom about it...her response to Rutherford's teachings was that she didn't know who he was and he obviously didn't have holy spirit ...and that some of the ones on the Governing Body were apostates, so maybe he was one of them)...no idea about the UN, Mexico and Malawi... NOTHING. They believe what they are told and "follow the herd". Just as they hypocritically accuse others of doing.
my mom asked me if she could use the hotel pool at my job for some people at her congregation (these three girls are her congo got baptized and they wanted to have a pool party for them).
i asked our general manager if it was okay, and of course it was, but i had to get a room in order to reserve the pool area for the j-dub guest.
one of the little 2 year old (she was sooooo cute look at me momma i baptized .
I'm more disgusted with the entitlement attitude displayed by the JW's than by a child parroting what she's learned. It was THEIR party, yet your mom had to foot the bill for their food? WTF??? And you're good enough to get them in to the pool on your own dime, but not good enough to be cordial to...because you're an "evil apostate". Stupid.
By the way, I remember that years ago, having a party for those who get baptized became a no-no... It stopped being okay because it made it seem like that was the only reason they did it and that baptism is a serious occasion and should not be celebrated with a huge shin-dig. Don't know if it was actually printed, but I know that's how it's been in every congregation I've been in since the late 80's/early 90's.
i can rememebr many such silences growing up in the wt.
one that comes to mind was back in the mid 80's.
i was a young twenty something fellow and had gone to the dc in fresno, ca with my parents and my brother.
violia and tal~ Yes, same experience here... Like when you're in a group and you start telling them something and all of a sudden someone cuts you off and you just kind of trail off in what you were saying? I hate that! I experienced that all the time when I was a JW...the popular crowd didn't like to let anyone else in. Or they'd look at me like I was totally daft.
his name was herbert, that's all i knew about him and that he was one of jehovah's witnesses.
the knock came at 6 in the morning and i was wearing very little.
i looked out the peek hole in my door to see a single middle aged man sporting a big stupid grin standing outside my front door.
They are not a registered sect... But they're definitely sect offenders!
@ Ding YUP!! April Fool's Day is also not allowed in Watchtower Land!
