@puff I remember my brother wasn't allowed to play with Transformers, but for some reason he could play with GoBots...

I knew a family with an UBM...the dad celebrated Christmas and Birthdays every year and the kids always got gifts. But they were not in any way deemed bad association. People understood they had the "burden" of having an unbelieving father who cared enough to give them gifts. For some reason, my unbelieving dad never wanted to do Christmas or Birthdays (I really think he either didn't want to spend the money and saw it as a savings or he was just trying to shut my mother up), but we were considered bad association. The other family was well off and had their own home in a nice area, a pool, etc. We lived in a shitty apartment in the city. I can't help but think that it had something to do with our econimic status.

Worldwide, I think it's possible. Look at all the dubs that only attend the Memorial every year in order to appease family. Look at the ones among us who no longer believe but are stuck in...those are counted as active publishers. So if we figure that there are a good number who are just going through the motions and don't believe in it anymore, the "Conscious Class", who are mixed in amongst the Society's count of publishers, I'd say there's a fair chance that there are more "ex" JW's (even if it's only in mind) than true believers.

That's just my take on it, though.

@Jeff, I think it would be damned expensive for them to pull it now. Especially considering that there are TONS of conventions every week! They would have to send out a new talk outline, or alert everyone giving the talk to omit the "new release". They would also have to either stop shipment or alert those receiving the DVD's to not hand them out, which looks suspicious in itself.

Either way, they're totally screwed. No matter how they handle this, I'm betting some are bound to smell something rotten.

@ UnConfused, maybe because it was apostates that leaked it to the public... We all know how we were warned that anything coming from an apostate source was utter crap... So even though it uses the REAL video from the WTBTS, they will assume it's apostate simply because it was leaked by apostates. As cedars and NC pointed out, they are in for a HUGE surprise (if the Society doesn't backpedal and try to do damage control by not releasing it...but you can't deny Anthony Morris III's little speech, so I don't know how they would cover that!).

A truly mind boggling experience

i dated someone earlier tonight and she looks pretty good, she invited me over to her home.

she has a very good salary(she has phd degree) but i do not understand why she chose to live in a white trash mobile home park.

i asked her how long she is going to live there, she said she just signed 2 year lease last month.

I can't believe you would judge a woman who is clearly intelligent by the fact that she lives in an "older mobile home". So what? It's a freakin' HOME! She could be a freeloader and be crashing at someone's elses fancy house, not contributing, and just looking for her next meal ticket, but she's not. She's a self-sufficient woman who is taking care of herself on her own. And yet you judge her?

Like I said, she's clearly intelligent, which makes me wonder why she went out with someone like you in the first place. She'd really show her intelligence if she never saw you again.

Picky is one thing. Being a judgmental asshole is quite another.

i know plenty of jehovah's witnesses who own and love this movie.

in addition to that, i know some who are big fans of the musical, wicked.

i suppose anything having to do with these will be lumped into the garbage by end of summer?.

I knew one sister in particular who was obsessed with TWOZ (huh...that looks funny...). She had figurines, soundtrack, movie posters...all kind of collector's memorabilia. I was kind of confused, considering the whole witch and magic thing. I personally have always loved it. And LOTR lol.

@ steve, I think that the only way that many have of waking up from the org via the internet is through the younger generation. Whether they are finding things themselves (remember, nowadays internet access and usage is pretty much mandatory in school...they HAVE to know it), or finding things and showing others. I think this is a big part of the campaign that we see being launched to keep young children indoctrinated as long as possible. Once they get into even higher elementary grades, the internet is going to slowly creep in and then from there...there's no stopping it.

just started watching 'friday night lights' .... great show, but it's making me a little bitter!

17 years after high school, i am still bummed i didn't get to play football or baseball.

i knew my elder dad would get busted from the others in the elders club.

@shopaholic, I had an "unbelieving" father, but he cowtowed to mom when it came to things like sports, worldly friends, and holidays. So even though some of us did grow up in "divided" households, we still got bupkis.

flipper, that's awesome that you have learned guitar! Just goes to show that it's never too late!

When I was in school, I wanted to play field hockey. But, alas, competitive sports would have overlapped (ha) with meetings, service, assemblies, etc. So no field hockey for me. I am determined that my children that will not be raised as JW's will be allowed to do sports if they want to. I feel that playing sports of any type (whether it's track, swimming, ball, or even dance) gives them an edge and a desire to acheive higher than they would otherwise. Plus, they look good on a college application . I'm determined that my children will have better and be better than I did and am.
