How do JWs that you know (or knew) view animals?
by Chemical Emotions inall animals, but especially pets.. do they have rather low opinions of animals, veiwing them more as objects to be used and treated however one wishes- after all, god gave them to us for our pleasure, or as "jehovah's creatures" which must be cared for and loved?.
i've seen both veiws, some more extreme than others.. i do think there's a tendency to treat animals less as living creatures that should be respected, and more as unfeeling things.. .
i get a lot of phony *"don't you just love jehovah's beautiful creation?

I've seen both within the org. There were people who really cared for their pets and took care of them and treated them like family. They were clean, groomed, well-fed, and well-loved.
But then I've seen people who OWNED their animals and treated them horribly...hitting them, keeping dogs chained up outside, denying necessary health care like vaccines or preventative care for things like heart worm or other conditions the dog developed. The dogs were rarely bathed (if ever), watered and fed once a day, and just watched life go by. Sick. The scriptures say to care for your domestic animal...that doesn't mean only livestock or animals that will bring you money, in my opinion.
I don't feel this is really a "JW" issue, though. I've known people who were not JW's who neglected their animals horribly and then I've known others who treated them with respect, dignity, and love.

The Jackson Family Circus -or- WE know whats really going on with Katherine Jackson vs her kids...
by Unlearn inso, i dont know if this has been posted/addressed here...but watching this whole jackson family thing play out in the public eye is surreal.. the press assume that the only reason mj's brothers and janet are contesting his will and want control of the kids, is money.. seriously...mj's bros and sisters dont need his money: his bros get paid everytime you hear a jackson 5 song.
they're all millionaires.. janet is loaded.
but, the media doesnt know what we know...so they assume that the only reason they'd want mj's kids is for the $$$$ that come along with them as part of the deal.. we know better.. i believe a big amount of respect is due to janet and jermaine and the rest of the gang...theyre trying to rescue those kids from a jw brainwashing fate.. i'd bet money on it.. they say janet was trying to convince paris to willingly leave her grandmothers home and come with them.. im telling you...they're trying to save those kids.. and as any of you who have close family still in the cult can attest to, we apostates are some of the most loving, long-suffering people on the planet...as many of us publicly hold our tongues repeatedly when it comes to that cult, because we dont want to hurt mom, or dad, or kids, or siblings.

The only statement I read was on People's website and they had said she was in Arizona on her doctor's orders.
Personally, I think Katherine is a little too up in age to care for 2 teens and a tween and think that she's going to raise them all JW-ish. I don't think taking custody has anything to do with the JWs, but has more to do with her abilities to care for them, seeing as she possibly has some health issues to deal with. They'd be better off with their aunts, uncles, and cousins at this point.

Quick, the elders are coming to the house! Hide that!
by bronzefist inwhat did you have to hide from the elder's sight if they came to your house?.
-
Morbidzbaby
I either didn't let them in or didn't stay home when I knew they were coming. YOU are coming to MY house unannounced or without my express consent. I don't have to let you enter, nor do I even have to be there.

There's one roll they make at a restaurant here that is incredible...tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, crab, rolled in soy crepe. OMGoodness!! It's to die for. They also have the Sunset Roll, which is cream cheese, asparagus, and salmon. I've tried quite a few and they're all just amazing. I had one that I can't recall what was IN it, but the "wrap" was cucumber that was thinly sliced. I love sashimi as well. A blob of wasabi mixed with some soy sauce, dip the sushi in, and get transported to the next plain of culinary orgasmic bliss. MMMMMMMM!
loubelle~ I actually just tried the pickled ginger the other day for the first time (and I've eaten sushi for years), and it was a great palate cleanser between the sushi and my meal!

My mom left me on a street corner when I was a kid. I was about 7 years old and we were leaving the home of one of her "studies". My brother got in the front seat and shut the door. My arms were full of books and I went to grab the door handle of the car and she just took off, leaving me there. She got all the way down the street before realizing I wasn't in the car. She said later that she thought she heard both doors shut and asked my brother if I was in the car and he said yes (without checking).
That poor kid, though! Thank goodness you were able to use avenues to track down his parents!

He also has a Facebook page as well with a list of the names... A bunch of the FB apostates are pissed because they didn't make the list, so they're writing him nasty messages and telling him they demand to be put on it lol.

"Scriptural divorce"
by ilikecheese inso i was talking to my boyfriend about the whole jw scriptural divorce idea.
i made the point initally that i think when jesus was talking about reasons to get divorced, he was more or less just trying to discourage divorce for frivilous reasons.
you have to admit that there are a lot of people out there who just don't put much effort into it and just give up.

I wondered this same thing... If a spouse was looking at porn, that would constitute adultery of the heart according to Jesus. However, in Watchtower world, there would be a LOT of divorces over such a thing because a lot of JW men watch porn. So much so that a special letter had to be sent to the elders on how to deal with it and specifically on which types of porn and how much watching of it would require a Judicial Committee.
As far as I'm concerned, when it came to my marriage, my husband cheated on me first by watching porn in secret and not "rendering me my due" (to quote the JW lingo). After that, I pretty much gave up on our marriage and didn't care anymore and formed a relationship (strictly non-physical, but emotional) with someone else. It was all downhill from there.

You should definitely get an ultrasound to see what size your stones are (or if you have any to begin with). Prilosec is, from my understanding, a heartburn and indigestion medication. Galls stones are caused by bile sitting in your gall bladder and forming crystals because it's not being used regularly like it should (low fat dieting and pregnancy are major culprits). That's what happened to me. On looking at the ultrasound results, they found I had 5 large stones the approximate size of nickels. So surgery really was my only option. If your stones are the size of BB's, I wouldn't wait too long to get something done about it...they can get lodged and then you'd need emergency surgery...when they get stuck, they can result in severe illness and death. So it's not really something you want to play with.
If you do need the surgery, they do it laprascopically. I only have one scar in the middle of my abdomen that's faded and isn't really noticeable. They go in through 5 small incisions. It didn't take long at all to recover.
