  I dont trust Israel with nuclear weapons any more than I trust Iran. Israel is paranoid and highly militant. I wouldnt be surprised if they nuked the US if they decided to stop supporting them. Havent we learnt anything from Iraq. There were no WMD's. Israeli intelligence lied

  Why So Many Young People Are Leaving The Watchtower

  i have been giving a lot of thought to the young people who are leaving the watchtower organization in recent years.

  last night, i was reading the thread posted by jwfacts a while back in which he provided some statistics and graphs showing the rapidly declining growth in the watchtower.

  one factor that was discussed at length was the high number of young people who do not stay in the organization.

  there are so many reasons to leave

  so many different ways to leave

  One that I think is important, is that kids bond with their class mates, they spend years with them growing up and getting to know each other. Sooner or later they will realise that their mates often accept them for who they are. If they make a mistake it's like "no worries, I've dont lots of stupid stuff too". Make a mistake as a JW and it can often remain in the backs of the minds of the whole cong, possibly it goes on your file. You will be deemed less worthy as a human being.

  But maybe a JW kid has no relationship with worldly kids. Often these types of kid will become a bit recluse, you know, the type that spend all day on the internet. Maybe they have more time to become intelligent. Need I say more.

  For me personally, I just never felt it in my heart. Like, I would pray and all that, but i just failed to see any real evidence of god effecting my life or shaping the JW org for that matter. I felt like an outsider then and I still feel like one now. And thank goodness i am that type of person. I dont want to fit into a sick cult, nor do i want to fit perfectly into worldly society, I'm a bit of a punk kid

  The Evolution of Morality

  the bible provides context for understanding the complete picture of the evolution of morality.

  the old testaments ten commandments are a good starting place not because of their moral superiority, but because of their historical relevance.. .

  take the bibles commandment of "thou shall not murder" for example.

  I'm sure there was a footnote on thou shall not murder. what if you have a gay son who uses gods name in vain?

  there are cultures who have no problem with murder. Murder is even honerable to Muslims who kill their children, it's called honour killings.

  In Africa they are still burning witches. After the Haitai disaster the sick people started killing the healthy because they thought they had cast a spell on them, when it was really the filthy water.

  so, no we dont have some kind of in built morality that tells us right from wrong.

  Evolution has made it so piranhas dont eat eachother. This isnt morality, it's how the species has survived

  The Organization Who Cried Nationalism

  one of the first things i sunk my teeth into when i left the watchtower was national politics.

  for the better part of my life i considered national politics as a dirty, or unholy, thing entirely.

  i actually cannot remember a single positive thing said about politics during my childhood.

  yeah I'm sure they're all neutral. I bet when their country is at war with another they wouldnt be rooting for their country to win, either way is fine, God will take care of us anyway.

  And I'm sure the Governing body is neutral. I'm sure when the government decides to ban them they wont go into the politics of law changing and fighing in court for political change.

  Positives of Growing Up JW

  i dont think any of us are glad we grew up in the org.

  but i was thinking about people who get cancer, and if they are lucky enough to beat it often they will say that they were better for the experience.

  before they got cancer they were stressed because they had to work extra hours in a shitty job to make ends meet, the kids were nothing but trouble and they spent their lives wishing that time would go faster, that week would be over, that the year would be over.

  just one other thing i thought of...

  When i read books about those people who have had a JW upbringing and I read about all the times they were mistreated and hurt, and eventually they end the story about how they couldnt be happier in their new life.... it's just a remarkable life, a terrible start with such a happy ending.

  Just the fact that that have this amazing story to tell kind of gives a different value to their life. I know some people who have no story at all, they grew up went to school and got married. Not that that's bad, but I really appreciate a story of struggle and overcoming that hardship.

  I gues what I'm getting at is I wouldnt want my memory wiped and filled with different ones. Because what I've been through is what makes me me. My life isnt perfect but i wouldnt want to swap it with anyone else, because it's my fight, not theirs, and I feel like I can handel it and tweak it to my advantage. And I think when I'm an old man I'll be really satisfied that I had a rocky start but turned it around.

Before they got cancer they were stressed because they had to work extra hours in a shitty job to make ends meet, the kids were nothing but trouble and they spent their lives wishing that time would go faster, that week would be over, that the year would be over. Cancer took them out of that and changed the way they look at thir family and their preciouse time on this earth.

  Being a JW was emotionally cripling, and after coming out I realised how ill adjusted I was to normal life.

  But being abnormal gives you a totally differnt perspective to everything. It's kind of like an Irishman coming to Australia and pointing out something perculiar that you never really thought about, but it makes you appreciate it a new way.

  It's hard to explain, I dont like what I grew up in, but if someone could magically replace those life memories and perpectives with those of a normal person, I dont think I'd want that. Because I think I find joy in things that others take for granted.

  Anyway, do you try put a positive twist on things?

  JW Youtube, Partnership / Ad's

  just wondered what you guys think.

  apparently youtube has managed to silence the average video makers, push them off the "featured video list" and only promote the big guys with ad revenue enabled.

  allot of talented musicians and film makers have left as a result of this, and they have been replaced with attention whores screaming "look at me, i say rude stuff, look at my hair!".

  I guess i could enable revenue and if people get pissed off I'll disable it.

  I was also thinking it would be good to have a JW community channel. Where people like ex gillead and tim kilgor could each speak on a certain topic or anser users questions.

  Just thought of it then actually ;)
