after looking at the latest 2011 "god's gonna cut you down" district convention invite, i found myself getting a strange and familiar feeling.

back when i was mentally in the borg, i used to actually get a bit intimidated by the "fire & brimstone" message on these things.

and now that i've mentally unshackled myself, i am beginning to see the deep-seated psychological effect that a lifetime of dogma has infused in me.

for me, it's warmth and compassion, being approachable, and not looking down on anyone.. also, taking the time to acknowledge and interact with newbies.. i love those type of posters.. syl.

Has anyone else read "The Four Agreements"

i just did last week.

it really helped me and i highly recommend it for any x-jw or human being, period.

i am curious what others thought of this from the x-jw perspective..

It's been a while since I read it, but Yes.

I thought it was very good.

I read his second book, too.

But I like this part the best: ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST

"Under any circumstance, always do your best, no more and no less. But keep in mind that your best is never going to be the same from one moment to the next. When you wake up in the morning refreshed and energized, your best will be different than when you are tired at night. Your best will be different when you are healthy, as opposed to sick.

If you try too hard to do more than your best, you will spend more energy than is needed and in the end, your best will not be enough. When you overdo, you deplete your body. and it takes you longer to accomplish your goal. If you do less than your best, you subject yourself to frustrations, self-judgement, guilt and regrets.

Just do your best in any circumstance in your life. Say no when you want to say no, and yes when you want to say yes. You have the right to be you. You can only be you when you do your best.

Don't expect that you will always be able to be impeccable with your word. Don't expect that you will never take anything personally. Don't expect that you will never make another assumption. Don't expect that you will never make another mistake.

But you can certainly always do your best."

on this topic we don't care what you are against.. let's be positive and tell three things we are for which are meaningful to us.. .

1.music lessons for kids.

learning to read music and play an instrument.. 2.memory training and math strategies in schools.

2. Every doctor should have to donate 2 days a month to providing free health care for whoever needs it.

3. The legalization of marijuana.

Cant get over this

i really can't get over that there are more than over 50 "gnostic" books that have every qualification that the other books in the new testament have and people won't consider them because it doesn't jive with "their" dogmas.

i really like the book of thomas.. i also consider paul the first big time hijacker of jesus intent..

My favourites are the Gospel of Thomas and The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Salty: If you are interested, Elaine Pagels writes great overviews of gnostic literature. I've read many of her books.
