obviously this is a very personal matter.

i can't believe i'm posting it here but i need to make myself.

i'm probably going to regret this.. i have discussed before that i was physically abused and neglected as a jw child.

This part jumped out at me right away:

There were 5 kids in my family - 3 girls, 2 boys.

My grandfather once told my grandmother, "The boys might come out of this okay, but the girls will never be right."

Interestingly, my brothers are both elders, (one is a "Royal Elder") and all of us girls have been disfellowshipped, divorced, separated......My sisters are both bi-polar, their lives are full of .

I was the one who kept it all together for over 20 years, til I just could'nt play the game any more.

Now, I'm df'ed and out of the religion, in a healthy relationship and fianlly feel "real" for the first time in my life.

That is an excellent point!

Let's explore that.

What if a JW family moved into a smaller town and the only puclic swimming pool was operated by the YMCA?

Would they be allowed to join in order to use the pool?

1. According to the Governing Body, would it be permissable for one of Jehovah's Witnesses to join the YMCA in order to use their pool or exercise facilities? Such a person would be forced to give up their membership or face disfellowshipping, would they not?

2. Then why would it be permissable for the Governing Body to join the UN in order to use their library?

As someone else pointed out: (.....sorry, I can't remember who.....)
