There will be more to come folks, when I'm allowed to start another topic. Cheers.

To respond to the posting below (since I can't reply right now), it's because they weren't aware of the change until then.

This has been exposed many times. Did you bother to do a search before you posted this?

If the Society resigned due to a change in the requirements for NGOs as Paul Gillies claimed why did they wait until they were exposed in the Guardian?

Give us a break, you are on the biggest apostate site on the net. Many of us were in the cult for decades, do you think we have researched where we are now?

As cofty said this article has been completely debunked. Start learning to think.

    BTW Have you read this?

The apologetics article you refer to has an appendix with scans of 2 forms. The 1991 NGO application form and a 2nd form that the article's author pretends is a new ammended application form from 2000. The defense is that this second form caused a problem for the Society causing them to resign. This is nonsense.

The first paragraph in the 1991 form says..

Please note that the assiciation of your NGO with the DPI requires that you provide us with proof of your organisation's ... annual report on its activities related to United Nations Issues.

Every year the Society had to send this report to the UN describing what they had done to PROMOTE UN intersts during the year. The change in tone of the borg towards the UN during this period has been well documented. Further details can be found at JWfacts.org

The second form from 2000 is not a memebrship application at all. It clearly says it is an Accreditation form for existing NGOs to "confirm your currently accredited representatives and/or to authorise newly appointed representatives. ....We require this information in a timely manner in order to update our database directory"

Your apologist source is simply repeating the lies of Paul Gillies and you are emabarrassing yourself by not taking time to read the source you are relying on.

    Sorry, wrong thread completely.

And... if it was no where near as bad as you say it is why did the WT resign at all?

Nothing but duplicitous hogwash as you would realise if you bother to read the WT and Awake articles at the time of their 'joining'!

I thought I smelled troll when you first posted stuff... seems I'm right. Ah well, somebody will see the WT as it truly is from the inside and bring it down (from the inside). Not gonna be trhskr. Damn, and I had high hopes too.

No disrespect iCeltic but since trthskr has finally focussed on one subject it would be good to stay on topic to see if we can get him/her to think.

The whole pyramid thing is amazing though.

Let's reduce this controversy down to a very simple model.

If a Congregation elder wanted to use a disfellowshipped person's library and the word got out--would this result in stumbling?

The mouthpiece of Jehovah stooped to having to use information from Satan's library?

See how easy that is to understand?

No explanation is possible that makes this Okay.

Ray Franz was disfellowshipped for EATING with his employer who was DF'd.

The glaring DOUBLE STANDARD of the Watchtower Society over its "little ones" is the real point of contention.

Not how clever technicalities excuse them from "touching the unclean thing."

    Nice double standard here:-

"The Bible condemns things such as stealing, idolatry and the misuse of blood, so a Christian could hardly engage in work where he directly promoted such things. Would doing the work so closely link a person with a condemned practice that he would be a clear accomplice? Even a janitor or a receptionist at a blood bank or a plant making only weapons of war is directly linked with work contrary to Gods Word. - "Watchtower 1982 Jul 15 Box on p.26 Employment Factors to Consider"

Is it true that for religious reasons Jehovahs Witnesses may not become members of the YMCA (Young Mens Christian Association)?
Yes, that is so. We have long recognized that the YMCA, though not being a church as such, is definitely aligned with the religious organizations of Christendom in efforts to promote interfaith. In joining the YMCA as a member a person accepts or endorses the general objectives and principles of the organization. Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovahs Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called Christian association would amount to apostasy. - Watchtower 1979 Jan 1 pp.30-31 Questions from Readers

"If Christendom had sought peace with Jehovahs King, Jesus Christ, then she would have avoided the coming flash flood.Compare Luke 19:42-44. 10 However, she has not done so. Instead, in her quest for peace and security, she insinuates herself into the favor of the political leaders of the nations this despite the Bibles warning that friendship with the world is enmity with God. (James 4:4) Moreover, in 1919 she strongly advocated the League of Nations as mans best hope for peace. Since 1945 she has put her hope in the United Nations. (Compare Revelation 17:3, 11.) How extensive is her involvement with this organization? 11 A recent book gives an idea when it states: No less than twenty-four Catholic organizations are represented at the UN. Several of the worlds religious leaders have visited the international organization. Most memorable were the visits of His Holiness Pope Paul VI during the General Assembly in 1965 and of Pope John Paul II in 1979. Many religions have special invocations, prayers, hymns and services for the United Nations. The most important examples are those of the Catholic, the Unitarian-Universalist, the Baptist and the Bahai faiths." - Watchtower 1991 Jun 1 p.17
