You can call a spade a spade, Reniaa, without being condescending and snotty.

KH Games
by cantleave ineven though my attandance at meetings is lessening, i still have to attend so as not to lose my income, friends and family.
i've started playing games to make the meetings go faster, for example, i have started annoying the hall servant by making silly requests such as asking him to turn the aircon on, then 10minutes later saying things like , "thanks for that but it looks like sister elderly is getting cold - she has just put her jumper on".
i also look for brothers and sisters who haven't got one or the books or the okm and make a real meal at getting one to them (its amazing how much noise you can make fumbling around the literature cupboard).. i am running out of ideas, can anyone else suggest something to to take the dullness out of the meetings.

Also, paragraph 15:
Do they really beleive that they "do not have special insight beyond what even some experienced members of the great crowd have"?
I know for a fact they don't believe this, because no one can disagree with the GB. No one.

So, about paragraph 16:
If not all spirit-annointed Christians have the responsibility to provide food at the proper time, (although Matthew clearly states that IS their prime responsibility) then, exactly what are their responsibilities?
Is it the preaching work? How are these ones any different from the other sheep then, whose prime responsibility is the preaching work?
I don't understand.....

The coldness of Watchtowerism thread
by Brummie inwhen my dad died on november 9th none of my jw family turned to comfort my mother, no phone calls no cards no words of comfort.
its over a month now and still they havent made any contact.
it doesnt really matter since they are all jws on my moms side but dads side of the family are catholic so they were all there to give the strength needed to cope.

Hard to believe this is 5 years later, but ya, they did the same thing to my grandmother. The Hall she was attending was having MAJOR mold issues - they even set up huge industrial fans in the entryway to try and deal with the problem.
Anyhow, she was having such health issues from it, she decided to go to another Hall. Before she left, she gave a large donation to the congregation, like she usually did several times a year. (Incidentally, the Hall was built without approval from the RBC, therefore the Society would do nothing about the mold problems.)
When she left, 2 elders tried to intimidate her into going back, ....I can't even describe to you all the scare tactics they used on an 80 year old woman. She's no idiot, tho, and knew what they were doing. Absolutely shameful and I will never forgive them for the lack of sleep they caused her.
She knew it was all about MONEY! She was a big contributor and they couldn't afford to lose her, as they had done the build with out permission from the Big Cheeses and now were experiencing a boatload of S**T. The Hall was built in a sinkhole, the parking lot was like 20 feet above the Hall....No kidding they had mold problems....In BC.
Retards.
Cold, money-grubbing retards.

If I remember correctly, the name of the Canadian town was Blainesville, Quebec.
Ya, that was huge, but I dont remember what the outcome was exactly.
I think Blainesville lost the case eventually, but had some minor victories in the interim.

I will also bump this thread, it was one of my favourites.
I have all those same unanswered questions. *sigh*
Please God, can we just do the best we can in this labyrinth of religion and still get an "A" for effort?
Yours Truly,

But at baptism, doesn't one of the questions have to do with understanding that you are identifying yourself with Jehovah's spirit-directed organization on earth.....something to that effect???
You have to answer yes, but then you're told not to PUBLICLY identify yourself as representing that organization??
Am I reading this right?

My grama gave me the best advice years ago when I was in a difficult situation.
She said "Don't do anything that you can't go back and change."
I had to swallow my pride and do what was right, even though it was the hardest thing to do. And to this day, I have no regrets. I did my part.
What I mean is, if you don't even try to make some kind of peace with your father now, there may come a time when you regret that decision and you won't be able to go back and change it. Don't burn any bridges.
Also sorry to hear your news.

Talk illustrations that need to be retired
by JimmyPage inmy dad used this one alot: it compared raising a child to holding a spring.
if you let go too soon the spring will fly off in an uncontrolled direction.
if you hold it too long you will wear your hand out and the spring will be no good.

Any illustration that portrays the sisters as searching for the perfect cake recipe or sewing a dress.
Any illustration that protrays the brothers as fixing something on the car, or building something.
It's not 1950 anymore. Some men cook, and I can fix my own ball joints.
