Falling Asleep at Work
by daniel-p inso who has a job that is boring enough to fall asleep at?
i've never yet fallen asleep on the job, but it would be very esy to do so based on how inane most of my work is, despite the fact that i actually do use my brain.
sometimes it's just so dry and technical i can't keep it up.. i have a nice fancy chair that leans back to my specifictions of resistance, so it would easy to tilt back and snooze a bit.

Normally, it's not slow here. But today it is boring.
And the smell of swabs is starting to burn my nostrils.

Has anyone dealt with custody issues after leaving?

Hi Jen,
My situation is alot like your's except I waited til my kids were older before I left. My son was 22 and living on his own and my daughter was 15. So custody is not an issue, but I certainly empathise with your situation. Even still, my ex tried to prevent my daughter from seeing me. One time, he stole her debit card and I.D. so she couldn't get on the plane to see me. He calls me filthy names to her all the time and it's really distressing to her. He tells my parents all kinds of lies and I know for a fact that he has lied to his lawyer about his income. I have never asked for spousal support, but he is trying to get child support from me right now. (I pay for my daughter's cell phone, buy all her clothes and school supplies and school fees, and give her spending money from each paycheque I get.) To protect me, the lawyer asked for spousal support EQUAL to the amount he is asking for in child support so that it basically works out to zero and I am still allowed to support my daughter without the money going directly to her dad. (He would just spend child support on whatever - probably internet dating site fees...)
I also met someone quickly after I left, which my ex is now telling everybody I left him for another man. Soooo not true. But whatever gets you through the night, right? He has to have someone to blame besides himself.
Good luck to you, I'll watch for your updates.

Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!
by Nosferatu inevery time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.
i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.
it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

This was quite an amazing thread.
I was away for a week and all hell broke loose.
AE was always a little too "pollyanna" for me to ever take seriously. Good on you, Isaac.

My mother is really sick--vocal chord disorder
by bluecanary inmy mother was just diagnosed with vocal chord disorder.
it's rarely fatal but it feels like she's dying whenever she has an attack.
the symptoms are very similar to heart attack and stroke-trouble breathing, pressure in the chest, numb lips and tongue.

My JW husbnd allowed me to be abused by both my family and the congregation, all in the name of "keeping the peace."
My non-JW boyfriend sees me crying and the first thing he asks is "Whose ass am I kicking, babe?"
Love him.

Sorry, blue.
It takes me a while to think of the right thing to say. And sometimes it never comes to me. I couldn't think of a damn thing to say to Bumblebee.
Definately thinking of you, hoping for a good outcome. I was going to ask the Dr. tomorrow what he knew about the disorder.
My daughter had (still has) a pretty serious heart murmur. Her heart races for several minutes and it's very painful and scary for her, she can't catch her breath. And she's in pain for a couple hours after the episode. So I can't even imagine what it's like to have several hours of that kind of fear.
Hugs to you, I think we were sisters in a past life.

Some smurfs are bad. I was robbed by smurfs one time. At knifepoint. See, they ARE evil.
