  How can a JW say that?

  --that's a question i keep coming back to.

  it's probably a "human nature" question more than anything else, but perhaps someone who was a full-fledged jw (unlike myself) can explain it.

  virtually the entire jw belief system, even their name, revolves around their public ministry and this ministry is based on certain ideas and premises:.

  TD:

  We are kept too busy to have either the time or the inclination to think for ourselves. So when the GB does the thinking for us and hands it to us on a silver platter we just accept it. We don't have time to do anything else.

  Also, we are trained to not trust our own thinking or our own thoughts and motivations. If there's something we don't understand or agree with, the problem is always with US. We are too spiritually weak or too involved with the world or not studying enough....etc to be able to grasp the deeper and vastly superior understandings of the GB.

  We are constantly told that doubts are a sign of sinfulness, so we push any doubts out of our mind and refuse to acknowledge them.

  Horseshoes - baaaad

  hey did anyone ever not buy items or clothes with horseshoes on because they're a symbol of luck and jws don't believe in luck?.

  hahaha i totally remember my mum seeing lovely greetings cards but as soon as she saw a horse shoe on it she would put it straight back on the shelf.

  the same with necklaces and bracelets.

  I had two huge living room windows that had material draped over them as a valance.

  "Someone" in the congregation was driving by and noticed that from the outside it looked like Christmas decorations.

  An elder came by to check if they were Christmas decorations and suggested I take them down so as not to stumble anyone else.

  Sooooo.......swag valances over your windows = baaaaaad.

  I'm starting to tell on my husband

  yesterday a brother called the house and asked for my husband.

  i told him i'm sorry he is doing his study and i will not call him to the phone.

  i told him we do not talk to each other and he would have to call him back around 11:30. he called back around 11:40 and sure sounded different then his first call.

  Wow, tiffy.

  Your husband sounds exactly like my ex (I just got my divorce last week). He also made me pay for everything for me and the kids, I never knew what was going on with finances, and just before I left him, he moved everything into accounts that I had no access to. I left with my clothes in the back of my truck and $800 to show for a 22 year marriage.

  And ya, the JW's will support him, not you.

  After 15 years of trying to get him to smarten up, it was only after I left that he said he would change. But by then, I had had enough and just wanted out. It was not fair of him to fight me for years and then when I gave up to suddenly decide to get on board.

  I admit, I only bet on the color the horse's were wearing, but my system worked.

  however, since i don't believe as you all do, it is only honest of me to present this.. i bring this up because i have been caught up lately in debates that i normally don't involve myself in.

  i have been left a little drained and confused as to why i allowed myself to argue a point till its beaten to a bloody pulp.

  Facebook condemned

  my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.

  this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

  Well, I added some of you to my facebook and it's true, you are an evil bunch of apostates. What with your exchange of malevolent recipes, photos of your devil dogs, gifting of farm animals, trying to entice me with your "Hey, how's it going today?" banter.......sheesh.
